Velocity of the melon: v=at~>velocity=the rate of acceleration multiplied with time. earths rate of acceleration=9,81m/s and time was about 2,90s. So that melon fell about 28,4m/s. So, that speed is enough to crush your heads like that melon exploded when it hit to the ground. That speed also would snap you hands like they were tiny sticks.

With some rounding, it is dropped at 45 m and has mass of around 10kg(avg watermelon mass). We would get about 30 meters per second final velocity when it hits, and assuming that time of impact was a quarter of a second, you have around 1190 N of peak force on that arm. That is around a 120 kg weight force on that hand for a quarter of a second. Factoring in air resistance would still get more or less the same value. Would that break a hand?

Hi guys. Take an idea for a video. You should make a big sharp metal squares cutter like the one that used for long potato chips standing on a verticl 3 meter high metal stand. And put below it a kind of water pool to take all the slices that will be cut. By that you can make many kinds of "chips"... It can work with watermelons.... blistic gel... huge rubber ball. Use your imagination
