In October we had another opportunity to stay in the chalets at Rietvlei Dam in Pretoria. This time we had less luck with bass but we caught some monster carp and improved a few pbs in the process.
Another great weekend at one of our happy places...

Thanks as always Michael! Yeah maybe, but at Rietvlei, when the fish are biting, you can almost expect those sizes :-)

On a PB normaly you get a bucket of water over you ,so you own us that bucket

How do you go about booking a Chalet at Rietvlei? I'm struggling to find any info om the government website

Hi Tian, sorry for the late reply, we were away again. There is a number and an email address that you can use, have a look at our site for some more info, www.anglinks.co.za/2018/06/rietvlei-dam-our-local/. But to be perfectly honest you may not get any response. We've found that the best way is to physically go to the gate and doing it there...

Thank you! It depends on the chalet but in general 6 people, some of them 8.

Awesome Whenever I fish those two dams I usually use banana floats and milie bomb that usually does the trick Also in Bellpark fish the last rondavel

Great video ! Quick question. Are there any spots to fish near gauteng where you don’t need a fishing permit? I’m trying to get into fishing and don’t have one.

Thanks a lot! You didn't hear it from us but you don't really need one anywhere, we've never been asked ever. It's a bad thing, it should be enforced, but it isn't currently, and the authorities have more important things to worry about.

Thanks Gerhard. We mostly use bunspice (perdeby, cinnamon) and banana at Rietvlei. At night or during the colder months we switch to stronger flavours like garlic.

@@user-bj4qp9ps7p Yes it was 100% papgooi, floaties and mielies, no specimen rigs at all. And we didn't cast very far either, maybe 80m.
