After he killed my firefish, the 6-line had to go. Wrasse are very hard to catch so I pulled out every trick in the book and on the 3rd day, the heavens opened up.

This is probably my favorite video you've ever done. I go back and watch it every once in a while. I may be having to trap a maroon clownfish soon. Mean fish suck LOL

Hey Mark, i was wondering about a little thing. I'm starting my 36l (9,5g) nano tank, and i was wondering if Strontium would be an important element to dose? I know i dont need to dose calcium, ph buffers, magnesium, or alkalinity buffers since i use reef crystals in such a small compacity of water, when i do waterchanges every week or two. Although is strontium really that important? Is there other elements that i should dose too?

Hello I have a question about snails. For some reason mine dont live long. The only ones that do are the ones that borrow under the sand. I recently added two large turbo snails. They lasted about three weeks and died about three days apart. Any advice will be greatly appreciated

@62reefkeeper Not all 6-lines are aggressive. Some can be very peaceful. Mine was peaceful until he figured out he could beat up on my firefish. It was all downhill after that. Keep an eye on your wrasse - he might be fine for years, or he could turn aggressive in a day.

My sixline and saddle puffer are terrible!!! Until I removed them. They were like a couple of MOBSTER'S from the 20's running through my tank Killin everything in sight. But they wen't back to alcatraz (LFS). Glad you caught him.
@lunartoxas14 жыл бұрын
If anybody wants a six-line wrasse. It should be one of the last fish you put in the tank because when they go in they usually get along with fish that are already in there and will be aggressive to new fish. I like how the candy canes stick out the most. lol

a simple method to catching fish, is to catch them in the dark! turn off the lights and try to make the room as dark as possible (simulate night time). The fish go to sleep. And you can quickly catch them.

My 6 line is an ass as well. The breeding habits of this fish is that males keep harems of females of up to 6. So it takes a little attitude to keeping a group of women in line. 6 lines help with flat worms too. I'm building a 120 gallon system right now and I'm not sure if mine will make to the new home. maybe i'll trade him for a little one at the reef shop.

@Hasans01 The tank looks blue as when I was filming, I only had my actinic bulbs on. I was using 2x96W power compacts and today I switched to VHO bulbs. I don't do anything for coraline algae...I just keep my alk/ca/mg high and it naturally shows up.

@360treflipskater360 Not all 6-lines are aggressive, but do keep an eye on it. Some, like mine just flipped one day. If you wanted to get it rid of it, at this point there is nothing else in your tank, so if you have to tear your tank apart catching it, the damage won't be so bad!

@mrsaltwatertank14 жыл бұрын
6-lines can be useful if you can find one that eats flatworms or pyramid snails, but then you'd have to deal with catching it! There are plenty of other wrasses that are just as pretty and not as aggressive such as anything from the flasher wrasse family. These are good choices for you tank dabblers, reef enthusiasts and reef junkies.

@mrsaltwatertank11 жыл бұрын
not all 6-lines are aggressive, but most are and you won't know if yours will play nice till you put in your tank and see what you get (not recommended). A hoven's wrasse would be a better choice for flatworm control

LOL! all that trouble for one tiny fish! Hahaha! Good technique though. Here's another technique I discovered. It may stress the fish out, but some of my smaller fish absolutely love hiding in this large conch shell I have in the tank. I caught two damsels in the conch shell after they swam inside it to hide from me trying to catch them with a net. They thought they were being smart by hiding. So I just had to lift the conch up then pour them into the net. Done deal, if you can scare them in.
