We have way too many squirrels stealing our fruit. Lily and I worked together to trap and get rid of them. We had some success using chicken food for bait and a lot of fun in the process. The Squirrelinator was an easy way to catch the squirrels. Not too bad for something off of Amazon. When it comes to repeating traps this is the way to go. Lily insisted that we relocate the squirrels we find, not sure I will let them go next time. #squirrelinator #catchingsquirrels #squirrels

I trap squirrels in the back yard, then use orange spray paint to put a orange mark on their hind quarters and take them at least 5 miles away across a 4 lane highway or a river to release. if one returns with the orange marker it gets the smith and wesson treatment.

Catch, dispatch with N2 in a container. Remember our "air" is between 70 and 80 percent N2. Process and freeze for a stew. What is left feed to Black Soldier Flies and then feed to fly larvae to the chickens. Full use of the resource with sources of protein. Concerned that the rodent meat is tainted (too many fleas or ticks), go straight to the flies after dispatch.

I've used Squirrelinators in my garden, but you have to move the squirrels to another place to make their colony. I put them in the same place on Forest Service land that had predators. I caught 40 with 3 traps in 6 weeks.and didn't see another one for 3 years. I used rabbit food.

Great video! I've trapped and released about 8 of the little critters in the past 2 months. I take them about 3 miles away and release them near a local golf course. I use to dispatch them, but I feel better now with catch and release. I tell my 5 year old grandson that they are learning to play golf and he gets a real kick out of that!

It is illegal to catch and release in my country. We have to catch and kill. Which is why i have nothing but dirt and a bunch of holes in my yard.

In some states it is illegal to relocate ground squirrels (like my state of Nevada). Plus ground squirrels are territorial so their chances aren't really great if released elsewhere. I had really good luck with cheerios as bait, and I have varmint/snake loads for my Smith and Wesson 38 for quick dispatch.

I've caught 215 Eastern Black squirrels in my backyard so far. I use to release them but that got old quickly. I finally bought a Squirrelinator with the basin and now teach them to swim. They're not very good at it. I release them after their swim lessons. Coyotes and hawks have to eat.

my squirrels have been eating the baby birds and eggs in my hanging plants, , the DNR told me to not release them in another area because they will do the same think there and the birds are more important, I had no idea they would eat meat untill my action camera said yes they will !!!!!

Sorry for sounding so vicious w/my snake comment below. I took a lot of Environmental Education classes & really think/believe that "natural pest control" is usually the best way to deal with things, if at all possible. I liked the music in the video too & Lily is a joy to see & hear.

Cool video!!! I like the "Catch & Release" aspect (or more precisely: 'Catch & Relocate'). I was just at Oak Meadow Park in Los Gatos CA, where my adult daughter & I saw an incredible population explosion of these critters running & frolicking all over the park. I have read that Rattlesnakes are a "natural predator" to these varmints, so I'm wondering 'which way' the City of Los Gatos might be inclined to go; if they ever do decide to do something about their "squirrel problem". (Note: Since I live in adjacent community of San Jose CA, I don't feel that I would have any sway over the direction Los Gatos finally decides to take...).

I had a co worker who bragged about all the squirrels he caught and then released. He felt really great about it! Little did he know, he was releasing them in the park next to my home. So I had these pests eating all my fruit and garden goodies! So yeah, I had to get a trap, and to prevent the cycle of abuse, the buck stops with me and I terminate.

I haven't been able to catch a single squirrel with this trap. At first raccoons were stealing the bait so I put a piece of plywood over the top and put a trail cam on the trap to see what was up. The raccoon was thwarted but then the mice ate the bait, they can get through the screen. The squirrels were too stupid to figure out how to get into the trap.

I say dispatch him. Releasing him makes him a nuisance for someone else. I wouldn't appreciate one of my neighbors dropping one off by my place. I believe in live and let live... unless it's messing with my property, my garden, my lawns, my chickens or chicken areas.
