Catching Sticklebacks for my Outdoor Aquarium!

4 жыл бұрынWell I customized a fish tank to be perfect for outdoor use, Filled it with plants gathered from nearby, then found the perfect little fish to add. Que video. These fish were willing participants in a minnow trapping experiment that was mostly designed to minimize disturbance among the locals. The humans were thick as mosquitoes in this Seattle suburb.
I used a net and some fishing line to capture these three-spine sticklebacks. More videos coming soon.

I have a 4ft x 2ft 6in x 2ft deep preformed pond fed by a 5ft long artificial stream from my pond filter. I only have Sticklebacks and Minnows. The Sticklebacks lay eggs in the pond foliage and the Minnows lay their eggs by swimming up the waterfall and laying in the gravel in the fast moving water. Both breed so prolifically that I restock my local pond with them.

I know this old video but they are awesome little fish I am just learned about them. They are new to our pond this year. There is a giant marsh across the road and it the pond drains into it or it flows in I can not remember.

The pump keeps the surface water moving and there’s a 50 watt heater too. Other than that it barely gets below 32 here

A vast majority of wild fish fall to predation before reaching adulthood. So yes, these lucky ones do.

Their best food is frozen blood worm, not normal fish food so much
