Yeah, I tried like heck to build a one-class Ranger but it needed so much buffing help from the DM granting items & stuff (& most stuff that would help a Ranger helps another class even more) that eventually I multiclassed into Fighter just to keep up _a little._ The only build that's been worse about that so far, was a naked Monk build that was fine initially but would have been utterly left behind if the DM hadn't gone out of their way to find tattoos & blessings & dark gifts they could use "naked". Bad build, but great fun. I put like zero optimization effort into a Cleric that still turned out easier to be useful with, than that freaking Ranger.

Usually I cast Ice Storm, then Fireball, then Lightning, followed by Thunder blast. Ice makes them slip and slow, then fireball melts the ice, then lightning shocks them with the wetness, and stuns them, then thunderblast hurls them off a cliff, or into a wall or something.

Flint is the epitome of deprogramming the stereotypical 'bad ass always does cool stuff by breathing' type of Ranger "Strider" made us think existed in D&D and shows us a more realistic version: desperate for attention monster hunter who couldn't be less aware of his surroundings. XD Actually makes him quite lovable though being sort of a mini antagonist trying to always play the campaign like the protagonist.
