Catching the Yellow Line at Fort Totten in 2024?!

Ай бұрынOn June 8th and 9th, 2024, Yellow Line trains ran in their full former glory from Huntington all the way to Greenbelt. When I heard this, of course I had to get on one for part of its journey! Nowadays, the Yellow Line only runs from Huntington to Mt Vernon Sq, with the rest of the line to Greenbelt being served by Green Line trains. Other oddities included a truncated Red Line due to Purple Line construction and a Green Line with half the trains terminating at Southern Ave.
At 1:03, I meant to say that the Yellow Line was running all the way between Greenbelt and Huntington (sorry for the mistake!)

The Yellow Line is expected to be extended back to Greenbelt full-time upon completion of the Purple Line, but this all depends on whether the Greenbelt Yard is going to be expanded, as well as the completion of the 8000 series order.

If I do remember correctly, there were a few Yellow Line trains that begins/ends at Greenbelt a few months back. Not sure if they still do it though.

It would fit right in with the other weird trains like SV and BL to New Carrollton that I’ve seen! It’s very possible there are a couple of random YL trains here and there that go to Greenbelt, but I haven’t seen any regularly-scheduled ones since when I filmed this!

Well the Yellow Line’s are going to Mount Vernon Square for now! But it was just due to single tracking!

This at least seemed to be one of the less pervasive instances of single-tracking; service on the line north from L’Enfant Plaza was relatively frequent despite the altered schedules. It was still cool to see YL trains running their full former route!

@@29downtheline I understand when the Yellow Line reopened after the bridge work and tunnel/ The Yellow Line decided to go back to Mount Vernon Square.
