Gfriend's rough won 15 awards in music shows and navillera won 14 throphy as well

GFRIEND barely got their debut. It was initially planned to debut in Nov 2014 but was pushed back to Jan 2015. GFRIEND and SouMu barely had any money during their debut and was at the rock bottom during that time. It reflected in their MV since it's not as creative, and extravagant as their colleagues' debut. And it did not stop there. Me Gustas Tu was filmed in Umji's grandmother's house because they don't have the capacity to rent a space for their comeback. Plus, if Me Gustas Tu did not do well, they were set to disband later in 2015. My Buddy, the last track of FlowerBud album was supposed to be a farewell fan song, but luckily Me Gustas Tu did well in Korea and the rest was a legendary history. GFRIEND debuted literally without anything but talent.

to put things into perspective, gfriend's company, source music was dirt-poor when they debuted like the whole company was literally in a basement and their first three mvs famously known now as the school girl trilogy were made with practically zero budget. they were about to disband during me gustas tu era but then a miracle happened and me gustas tu became a viral sensation, one of the biggest hits in 2015 (views don't reflect it because their first two mvs were deleted from the original youtube channel). it was rough though that catapulted them to kpop icon status and they dominated 2016 with like 29 music show wins and a few more trophies from year-end award shows.

i can explain the mv situation: so back in the day, kpop was slowly getting into the mainstream, and groups would mainly cater to the Korean audience, thus youtube streaming and views weren't held to a high regard. now, big companies such as sm, yg, jyp could post their artists mv's because these companies have a massive following and exposure. when gfriend debuted their company were VERY poor, and this was the first time the company was releasing a girl group solely by themselves. this meant that while they could independently release the music videos, it wouldn't get any traction. so back then and even now, kpop groups from smaller and even midsize companies would release their mv's in sub-contracting companies that would post their mv's onto youtube. whether that be 1thek, bugs, or in gfriend's case, genie. these companies would release the mv's on their own youtube channel because they have a lot of subscribers, thus these smaller companies can get exposure to their artists. genie released most of their earlier stuff of genie and later started releasing on 1thek. genie however had a clause within the contract that would get rid of the mv's after a certain period of time (again gfriend's agency was dirt poor so they couldn't afford a better contract). thus me gustas tu and glass bead (later reuploaded to 1thek) have missing mv's and less views even though they were the biggest hits of 2015-2016. since then, gfriend has signed with 1thek and also opened their own youtube channel where they had subsequently uploaded all their mv's while simultaneously uploading on 1thek (still for the extra exposure as a lot of non-fans are subscribed there). later they joined hybe and exclusively realized mv's there. i know this was really long, but the history and inner-workings of kpop and mv production is really neat, especially for non-privilged groups like gfriend.

They actually became apart of hybe only starting from 2020! Gfriend actually has a deep,complex lore.I think what some meant by "magical concept” meant their lore and not their general concept.(Except some of their latest songs like apple) Rock influence in cute/bright concept in those times is unique to gfriend as far as I know! Info aside,gfriend has one of most fav discography in kpop even tho I havnt heard most of their bsides yet. The title tracks are such earworms.

Yeah, their initial concept was "Powerful Innocent" which is actually something like this that is rarely found nowadays. also in terms of music, especially under 2020, actually they don't really follow popular trends with music like edm, rap, and so on.

Gfriend is the only group I'm really into, their music fits my taste perfectly, with orchestral and nostalgic sound. but even so their music range is also wide, especially their b-side. So glad that you doing something like this to them. Thanks:)

Looking back at the moment of their rough journey when they debut with low budget MV, low budget outfit, makeup literally zero budget of promotion. At first they only have 2 outfits for their promotion stage of Glass Bead. But unexpectedly debut with out of nowhere company, they caught people attention especially Knetz with their unique synchronization choreography and catchy song, got them into title of Hot Debut that time. It's no exaggeration to say that the existence of GFriend with the concept & powerful innocent choreography has created a phenomenon in the K-pop industry, putting girl group choreography above average, reminding at that time there's no much girl groups cames with such choreography. They make a comeback with Megustas Tu in a expectations if it failed, they had to disband bcs company didn't have the budget to promote them anymore. Surprisingly, MGT becomes a national hit in SK, blew up their name. The song even broadcasted in NK. What more touching, they slay almost all of end-year awards as a BEST ROOKIE OF THE YEAR except on MAMA. They continue grown their popularity with Rough, most popular song of Gfriend all of the time. Rough set as 1st song achieves Perfect All Kill in 2016 with 66hours, set a new record on Melon chart, stayed at the top of the chart for the longest period that year, hitting all of music show and ended with 15 trophies as most win in music show for 3rd generation.

When you say about OST vibe I think GFriend is the most 3rd generation gg that involved in many OST drama mostly per member but there also some their present as a group for drama OST. You going to hear Yuju high note in each of their song either just as harmonise or directly in the song ❤️

Yeah on their early stuff yuju (main vocalist) is literally going off on every song and i say every song even the besides, eunha who was the lead vocalist sang some high notes here and there on the besides, it wasn't until around 2019-2021 she started getting more and more highnotes on their songs, i mean what can i say they were a very gifted group, they're considered the queens of synchronization, and one os the best vocally stable groups on the industry, and don't get me started on their bsides, gfriend discography is one of the best out there

ah yes gfriend in 1 year released 2 albums, at the beginning of the nuances of winter which came out january. And the last one with summer nuances usually comes out in June or July So from these 4 songs, Glass bead & rough have a winter nuance that gives us a chill atmosphere Then Me Gustas Tu & Navillera with Summer

Navi is butterfly in korea and they take the word navillera from poem. And yes, in early debut mostly yuju do the highnote. But in the last comeback, they let other member do highnote (eunha, sinb, umji)

There is actually a story line but you have really to go in detail but there is really one. For Apple for example they gave us a little Märchen with each album (the german word for fairytale/storybook) there is also a KZfaqr (LainaSunflower) and she does MV Theories and is in my opinion the best when it comes to Theories. Buddies are really bad at it. Back in 2018, 2019 the most popular one was that Eunha died during Time for The Moon Night (2018) you will maybe understand why when you watched it :,) Also Sourcemusic was really poor back then so there was no money for fancy MVs like most groups have nowadays (but some other Buddies already wrote this), Gfriend was alao Sourcemusic only Idol Group during Gfriend activities

Not sure what your musical background is but having guitars (even heavy and distorted) in a song is not the same as it being rock influenced, to clarify the guitar itself never makes anything rock, what makes something rock is the rhythm.
