I see a lot of people attacking her in favour of Michelle. This proves how jealous people are of Care Blanchett because of her brilliance. And that justifies why Cate should win the Oscar and have her third one this time instead of Michelle.

BFFR Cate's fans have been using racial slurs against Michelle Yeoh the whole year round and delegitimizing Michelle's performance from day 1. Glad she won the Oscar

@@hatelovebowel4571 you stay stuck to your typical "racial slur" narrative and continue to play the minority card because Michelle has only won for her 'minority race' and not for her acting merit. I am sure academy voters were in too much pressure to vote for her over Cate's acting brilliance just in order to create this "first ever Asian best actress" moment and nothing else. Now Oscars have to create a separate award for best female performance of the decade in order to compensate Cate Blanchett for taking away her her rightful 3rd Oscar.

@@hatelovebowel4571 in terms of popularity, EEAAO would obviously sell more than Tár. Movie's audience target is completely different, but that has nothing do with Michelle's or Cate's performance. Michelle was amazing and I agree she deserved the award, but not for this film maybe, in comparison to what Cate did with Lydia Tár, her character. I do agree with all the awards the movie got, except for Michelle's one.

I believe so yes. Awards should be based on performance and not how one is campaigning, narrative. I don’t see point of the Oscars anymore, they are losing the relevance for sure. Blanchett gave one of the best performances of all times male or female in TAR. Despite Oscars her performance is for the books.

Give the award to someone who really wants it. She doesn't want it. She doesn't believe in the idea of awards shows. I wonder why she didn't give back the award and also why does she still attend these awards shows.

That’s not how it works. Awards should be given based on quality of the performance, not how much one wants/needs it, or if they are “new”, “overlooked”, or a “minority”.

Giving it back is so disrespectful for the people behind that success, Cate being nominated also represents the movie as a whole. Though I agree that Cate don't really give a bunch to these awards, it's probably for formality.
