This guy knows his business. Can't always judge the work a shop turns out by the condition of the place. It seems Warren is so busy he doesn't have time to keep things organized? Love his comments that show he has a really great outlook and attitude. I would think being a heavy machinery mechanic could be challenging, frustrating besides being just plain old hard ass work.

Warren I hope you get a laugh out of this..My younger grandson is 5. He stayed with us the other afternoon and I was watching a couple of your videos while having my lunch. He walked by the table, asked what I was watching, and looked for a minute, and went off to his Lego Truck. He came back by and stopped to look again a couple of times, he had a questioning look on his face but didn't say anything. A couple ore of these walk - bys and finally I asked him, "Tiger what is the matter, you look like something is wrong on the video" He looked at me and said, "Poppa, that man has orange hands. I have never seen a man with orange hands before. Why are his hands orange?" Bout spilled my coffee. "Buddy his hands are not orange, he is wearing gloves" 5 year old version of skeptical "yeah BS look". "Poppa, I don't think so. Every time I see him his hands are orange". I pointed out the next time your face was in frame. "See bud, his face isn't orange, so he must be wearing gloves, he wears them to take better care of his hands and protect them" "Why isn't he protecting his face?" Well I wound up going out to the shop with him in tow, and put on a pair of gloves, to convince this kid you don't have orange hands. He believes me now. I think. Enjoy your vacation my friend.

Warren, another job well done. your are going to need a longer bar shortly. OMG that's going to work a guy to death pulling a torque. You go to Florida, rest and relax.. Good morning, Warren! Thank you for the video. The belt squeal on your truck is caused by the cascade failure of the alternator and batteries. Both should be replaced ASAP. IMO it isn't merely a belt tensioner.

I just got back to work from my week off. Kids had spring break. Wife got us all put to work cleaning out the garage and the property. She worked me like a rented mule. Seven days of beautiful weather in a row did not help my body either. Hope your week off is better than mine!

That's a great sounding engine. That's how a diesel is 'sposed to sound.

I'm surprised the instructions didn't have you glue the shim gasket down under the spacer plate. Last 4 I did requested aircraft adhesive.

Aint nothin wrong with doing an inframe outside. I do it all the time, at least I get to do them in a parking lot though and not the dirt. Good luck on your vacation man.

I’ve seen people build in engine in shops where the guy next to the inframe was blowing out a radiator core or replacing brakes. So this environment being damp might just be cleaner

This vid brought back memories! Funny to know that CAT STILL uses those punch/thumb-in water jacket O-rings on the cylinder head. Did a few 3406's, but mostly Cummins NH series. Always wondered why CAT didn't incorporate those O-rings into the head gasket. Any insight?

had a customer who works out at gym 3-4 days a week help me put head and studs on his 12 valve. i let him torque head down. i tried not to laugh at him when he said how much of a workout it was doing it

I just watched your Crankshaft Run Out video, better late than never. Comments on that are turned off, so my 2 cents here. 1) Main journals are ground between centers and if done right should be less than .00005 run out. Closer than you are equipped to check. More means a problem in the grinding, a long possible list. 2) Imbalance can be anywhere in the drive train, but I would look at the flywheel/clutch (heavy parts if running out).

There's a heavier head out there on the market so far haven't replaced any do to cracks. Little more expensive if you want I can find out who builds them.
