Try below ice harbor down around the bridge or pump house. My personal best actually came from infront of the pump house on the burbank side.

@@jakeemup9303 just start near the mouth of the yakima and start going up the river looking for this type of location i described. If ur on the bank google maps will help u scout a spot before setting out to fish

Yes thats actually where i caught my PB 18lbs, but it was on squah fish and i was on the bank.

We are just below twin bridges rd only access to this part of the river would have to be by boat. You're all more than welcome to fish it.

I know plenty of people that fish out of there and eat the catfish in soups and all, never heard of it being polluted.

It's just the amount of mercury in the water. Just shouldn't eat it every day

In the late 60's/early 70's the lower Yakima was the 17th most polluted river in the nation - you couldn't see a white plate two feet down, due to the agricultural runoff, in the summer, although it was better in the winter - but they've cleaned it up tremendously since then. I don't know how much mercury there is, though- there was a criminal case back then against a Hanford site employee who stole site mercury and was using it for sinkers in surgical tubing, set up so if he got snagged on the bottom the gear came loose but dumped the mercury in the process. Not sure which body of water that was in.
