I was saved at age 10 at home with my dad and mom right beside me, but as I got older I just had to see what this old world had to offer, kind of like the prodigal son. At a later time in my life I found out really fast, that this old world is cruel and the world loves its own. I found that in my Bible. Redecorated my life to the Lord in my 30's because the old world couldn't offer what the Lord Jesus could. I love this song so much because I'm just an old sinner saved by grace.

Wish I could go back in time when Southern Gospel music was this awesome. It was filled with the Spirit and moved us closer to Him.

My husband is one of 13/ children and grew up poor but by gods grace he has been saved and he weeps when he hears this song his parents did the best they could especially his mother she always instilled god in all of her children and we were all blessed to have her for a wonderful mom she died in 2002 at the age of ninety oh how we were blessed to have such a wonderful mother ❤

But with Him, we are of all men most blessed. When we get to thinking too much of ourselves, this will bring us back to where we need to be - totally in debt to Jesus for what HE did and does for us every day .

I have asked my Pastors wife to sing this song at my funeral as she is so much younger than I am and this is my theme song and even though GOD did not give me the gift of voice,I try to sing it Accupuncture as that is painful,One of the prettiest songs I have ever heardn

I've seen a lot of comments questioning the song's scriptural content- - personally I hear no encouragement to keep on sinning and simply have grace, or anything of the sort. The first verse plainly states, "If you could see what I ONCE WAS". Meaning simply as the Bible says, all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God-- but by grace all of us who believe are restored to life and fellowship in Jesus Christ. We live and breathe in freedom, because whom the Son sets free is free indeed.

This is one of my very favorites. George said that "his verse" fitted his life as well as any he'd sung. Well both verses apply to my life. This song reminds me so clearly of who I am and who God is.

Long before I could put faces to this song, I listened to them every Saturday evening on a little station aired in Toronto called WDCX with host Doug Riley. I loved them then and still love them today, And this song more than all they have sung means a lot to me. A lot! Thank you

I know that I was the one that uploaded this video but I just listened to it again and every time I do I get chill bumps. Danny just blows me away!!! He harmonized beautifully yet demonstrated power at the same time. Nobody could touch him as far as I am concerned.

I know you wrote this 5 years ago but I am adding to it...This was one of my favorite groupings of the Cathedrals...with Mark Trammell and Danny Funderburk...I still love the one Danny was featured in "Somebody Touched Me." & with Roger on the piano..Gosh/That was awesome! i just love some of these older groups the cathedrals are one of my all time favorite groups.you can still get chills as they sing these songs.you just know that they were eant to write and sing these songs to uplift God in every way possible.

Wow! Setting here with tears in my eyes! I was so fortunate to see that Cathedrals so many times over the years. The first time was in 1984 (I think. I was 11 or 12) and Danny had only joined the Cathedrals a month before. Man, the guy blew me away then,, and still does! And no one will ever again sing like Glen Payne. This was the BEST ever line up of any group, IMO.

At 64 years old, I know this, I am indeed just a sinner saved by God's Grace. If you believe that Grace sang about in this song is a license to do wrong, you are mistaken. I know this, all sin is sin. No matter what dark place it is done in, or if anybody sees it's commission. Without grace, we all die and spend eternity in Hell. All our works of Righteous are as rags compared to a 100% perfect God.
