As many hikes as we’ve done, Cathedral Rock hike surprisingly is one of our top favorite trails, even though it is only 1.3 miles roundtrip. Besides the gorgeous view on the top, this trail has so much personality to it. For such a short hike, it is quite challenging. However, it offers incredible, diverse views of the surrounding areas as well as many hidden, secret spots if you’re willing to explore. This is why Cathedral Rock hike is one of the best hikes in Sedona.

My husband and I got married at sunrise at cathedral rock in 2009 in Dec. I hiked it in a dress with a kitten heal in the dark! With no jacket and a sleeveless dress. Looking at this I'm like wtf was I thinking! It didn't even phase me. We are going fir our 12 year older and wiser. Curious how we will doà

This is a very accurate account of this climb. At the cruck/crevasse section I climbed up past a young woman who had broken her wrist and was resting before continuing down to a hospital. It kind of caused me to hesitate. Then I just took it a lot more cautiously and was successful. Finding the painted spots on the way down helped a lot. And yes, I slid quite often on my butt to descend. We did Devil's Bridge at 7:30am and then Cathedral Rock after. A full day but a great experience.

Love Cathedral Rock, hate the Disneyland nature of it 😂 The vortex is supposed to be by that spire rock after the climb to the left. Last time I was there there were some native americans praying at that spot, so, I did not want to disturb them so had to come right back down. You can try the “long way” to Cathedral Rock if you park at Little Horse Trailhead (across the road from Cathedral Rock Trailhead), then take Bell Rock Trail, HT Trail, Slim Shady trail, Hiline trail (double black diamond mtb trail), Baldwin, Templeton, finally Cathedral Rock trail , back to Templeton, Easy Breezy trail to HT trail and back to Little Horse trailhead … yes, it’s a long route, about 11 miles or so 🥵, but, you’ll see Cathedral Rock for every angle 😍😎🤟 and if you do this route in the warmer months you can stop and take a dip in the creek 😉👍

Dang this is awesome! We thought that we knew everything about Sedona, but you are the true king! That's awesome that you respected the native Americans, the trails can definitely use a bit of respect these days. You've got us wanting to plan another run with all of these new spins on some of the classics! We also want to run some canyons out there.

One thing I that always amazes me is the people we see on cathedral rock. Maybe there is a vortex up there! We always see frail elderly people climbing up and down. We always worry for their safety but it's so awesome seeing them out there living life to the fullest.
@bobbafett7407
@bobbafett7407 Жыл бұрын
The king? LOL 😂 I am just scratching the surface, every time I go there I feel like there is waaaaaay too many places left to explore. Some of the most famous vortexes are Cathedral, Boynton, Shamans Cave (Robbers Roost), Bell Rock, Airport Mesa, etc. For some of the best views in Sedona I would recommend Wilson Mountain, it has 2 overlooks; one over Sterling Pass (another amazing hike), and the other over Sedona. Also Bear Mountain, the views here are like 🤯🤯🤯, just be aware of the false summit (or sumittS, depending how you count them 😂)

@LiveThatAdventure

Hey Lexus! It all depends on what you looking for. Devils Bridge is quite a bit longer, but it is mostly flat until the climb at the very end. Cathedral Rock is up hill all the way there and downhill all the way back. In my opinion, I think Devils Bridge might be a little bit easier. Have a great trip!

January 3, 2021. This is the date I had set for my suicide. Out of all places in Sedona to die, I wanted to choose this one. Its view was amazing, and it was peaceful. I was 13 and didn't know what I was doing. That was the lowest point in my life. This showed up in my recommended and I started getting flashbacks. I remember everything. From the order I had before I bored the plane to Sedona to the LED pink sketchers the girl in front of me had going up to this mountain. I had no emotion climbing up. The rest of my family stayed at the bottom because they were tired. I sat at the top for 20 minutes, just staring and thinking. A woman came up to me and asked for me to take a picture of their family. I agreed and took the photo. The woman asked if I was ok and if I needed anything, I said no but she gave me a hug and left. I then asked for their number so they could send the photo to me. The couple saved me and didn't even mean to save my life, but they did. This is just a reminder to give a random compliment to anyone, you never know what they are going through.

@@richie5930 when will you be in Sedona l? I want to make sure the video will be up in time. If you're kid is pretty tough it should be on. It took me about 30 minutes to convince myself to scramble to the top (along with the encouragement to "go for it" from about 4 other fellow scared people who were waiting on loved ones lol). I also had a 20lb backpack with camera equipment on my back which made me especially nervous. But, worth it. So so worth it!
