Wow! I love the way that you showed and explained how to steam the dart area. I’ve never seen that before. It looks so professional, but also doable.

Loved this idea! Just a thought, how about taking it one step further by adding 3 or 4 large matching buttons along the cross-over side? I think that would dress it up even more. Such a cute sweater. I have to try doing this. Thank you for another great tutorial.

Awesome tutorial, Catherine! I learned a lot from you and I really enjoyed your cheerful and patient manner in explaining everything. I am in the process of upcycling an old stretch out women's cardigan into a wrap sweater (which should be much easier!) and this was really helpful. Thank you for sharing!

So happy you popped up in my feed! No only os this a nice (of time-consuming) upcycle, it's a good way to try out how this style looks on you without shelling out big bucks for a ready to wear sweater or fabric and a pattern. You explain so well!

Wow, so AWESOME! I have narrow shoulders and garments most often drop off my shoulder point. Love how you just use a marker while wearing the garment you’re changing. Does the shoulder change you’re doing with this sweater work for cottons, etc?
@CatherineSews
@CatherineSews 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the lovely comment. Using the iron to reduce the fullness around the shoulder definitely works better with wools, but cotton knits will shrink in a bit as well.

Actually I know what you mean. When my students sew for the first time, it's terrifying to watch. It is a very tiny margin between totally in control and a giant OUCH!! In 16 years of teaching fashion and sewing, and probably 3000 students, it's happened 3 times that a student sewed their finger. Not pleasant, but none of them ever did it a second time!!

My late Auntie Frances once sewed her finger into the fabric, when she told me, it made me focus very carefully from then on, so I have her to thank for not having done it myself!

When you change a T-shirtneck from round to v neck, do you use a light interfacing to reduce mis-shaping the shirt?

Hi Dianne, at 2:50 I talk about how the cut edge isn't going to fray, so I didn't bind it at all! I just let it roll to the inside.
