My brain burns 🤯when I listen the Catholic speaker trying so hard to create his own theology. It is a lot to digest. It is painful for me. I am ex Catholic. I gave my life to Jesus as my only Lord and Savior 45 years ago . Since then the Bible is sufficient for me😊 Thank you Pastor Mike. This is so well done.

It was the CC that gave you the Bible you use to try to undermine the faith. It's shooting yourself in the foot. You walked away from Christ's true church. The Eucharist The devotions . The communion of saints The encounter of Christ daily at Mass. And for what ? A 21st century 'unbiblical , bible, 'church Maybe God will speak to you in your dreams to show you the height you have fallen from and shepherd back into his one fold. Or maybe he won't.

@Delta O'Keefe You said: Saying God's word isn't enough is saying God isn't enough for our salvation, our trust, our devotion, our faith, etc., when CHRIST is OUR EVERY THING. Me: If God's word is enough and you don't need the church then tell me which books of the New Testament are said to be inspired by the Bible? You: I don't follow all Protestant beliefs, because I'm not a Protestant, I'm a Christian! Me: If you believe in Sola Scripture (as it appears that you do) and/or Sola Fide then you have Protestant roots even if you try to disown them.

THERE IS *BLOOD OF LAMB* what is this lamb if not JESUS CHRIST?Jesus have been death before revelation 12!,this is the context of Revelation that JESUS HAVE ALREADY APPEAR IN REVELATION 5! Revelation 5:5 (NET) Then one of the elders said to me, “Stop weeping! Look, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the root of David, has CONQUERED; thus he can open the scroll and its seven seals.” Jesus says that he will be ascended and GLORIFIED in heaven after he is RESSURECTED John 3:14 (NET) Just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, Are you really faithful with SOLA ECCLESIA (Only Church)??,then you are HAVING SOME MENTAL PROBLEM!, Im believer of SOLA SCRIPTURA (Scripture Only) NO ONE HAVE INFALLIBILITY IN THIS WORLD,when people canonized bible,they didnt think thay THEY HAVE INFALLIBLE AUTHORITY FROM GOD,the didnt think such a thing!,They are just REASONABLY CHOOSE THE SCRIPTURE!,this is why SCRIPTURE ITSELF IS STILL UNDENIABLE AND STILL INFALLIBLE BY ITSELF! I believe in sola scriptura,protestanism is Spreading super fast,Look at PewResearch on "Leaving catholicism",most of people leave ROMAN catholicism because they have problem with its theology,it says that: *Among both groups, an additional three-in-ten left the Catholic Church as young adults between ages 18 and 23. Only one-fifth who are now unaffiliated (21%) and one-third who are now Protestant (34%) departed after turning age 24. Among those who left the Catholic Church as minors, most say it was their own DECISION rather than their parents’ decision.* FAITH ALONE! CHRIST ALONE! I WILL BE SAVED! Protestantism didn't even exist until 1500.....when Martin Luther tried to re-write his own Bible. In fact, the Catholic Church itself even preceeded the Scriptures....they were first assembled and translated, in the first Bible, by Jerome, a Catholic Saint, in the 4th Century. @@skippy675 Of course I’d argue the contrary. But I suppose it also depends on whether you live an evidence based life or not. There is plenty of evidence for Jesus and God, agreed upon both sides of the aisle. Now the atheists may disagree on the evidence proving a Christian God but they do admit that some force exists or at very least existed pre-big bang and the formation of everything required something inexplicable to create it. Personally, I spent most of my life as an atheist because I never endeavored to really dig into it and just parroted most of the typical rebuttals when debating Christians. I believe the phrase that's currently in vogue today for what Scott Hahn is doing in those clips is "motivated reasoning." He is motivated to make the Bible conform to his beliefs. He comes to the Bible with an agenda, and he's going to pound and stretch and chop the text in any way he has to to validate his beliefs. The worst part is that he thinks this transparent sophistry is actually some kind of deeper knowledge, the secret knowledge of typology, as if Protestants have no idea what typology is. When I first became a Christian, I tried to become a Roman Catholic. I did all the repetitious prayers, prayed to dead people, bought all the doctrines, believed this stuff about Mary. Something felt wrong about it, so, at the same time, I kept reading the Bible. It only took a couple of months to realize that almost nothing I was doing could be found in the Bible, and a lot of it was literally condemned by the text. I think the Holy Spirit protected me from a cult. If your church is pointing you to anyone other than Christ, you need to leave that church.

And that's the key. Putting aside the straw men that Catholics don't dislike idolatry and that a statue of the most favorite saint in Christian history, Mary of Nazareth, the mother of God, is 'idolatry:' Christians nor Jews never lived in a time in which there was not a faith handed in light of which they understood Scripture. And not only that, but Scripture was not the only means by which the faith was handed on. Even the New Testament says that. It's handed on by tradition, and this safeguards Scripture's meaning against novelty and heresy. If you pick up the Bible you'll come to the conclusion that all the varying sects of 'bible only' sects have done. Choas. No agreement. Each one claiming to be the 'original pure bible only doctrine.' We don't need that because we have a pedigree of faith that goes back to the Apostles, with an unbroken line of teachers, bishops, priests and popes who have safeguarded that faith. And the best part is we have proof, in the form of their writings, for 2000 years. The Apostles never intended Scripture to be a free for all document handed to anyone. It was entrusted to the church and its shepherds. When you take away the faith, you begin to FALLIBLY conclude and fabricate one from the text yourself, according to your own interpretation.

This prayer is just one more in the LONG line of proofs showing that the Roman Catholic Church has made Mary a divinity and how they BYPASS Christ! This prayer is utterly BLASPHEMOUS, yet it was given wholehearted approval by Pope Pius IX; and he so generously granted an indulgence of 300 days each time the faithful say this prayer with at least a contrite heart and devotion before an image or picture of Mary! Better get praying, Catholics; if you say this prayer every day for a year you'll get 109,500 days less in the non-existent Purgatory (109,800 days if it's a leap year!)

You do understand Jesus Christ fulfilled the Davidic Covenant promise and there was always a Queen Mother (1 Kings 15:13, 2 Kings 10:13, 2 Chronicles 15:16, Jeremiah 13:18, 29:2), right??? We pray for Queen Mary to intercede for us before the "King Son". Is it Biblical??? Absolutely. 1 Kings 2:19-20 and John 2:3-5 Queen Mary advocated for "King" Jesus to start His ministry on behalf of another. Now, you have never been taught Jesus Christ's basic mission or read Galatians 4:4-7??? What does Jesus Christ "born under the law to REDEEM THOSE WHO WERE UNDER THE LAW" and "adopted" mean??? If GOD is now our Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ is our King Brother, then WHO LOGICALLY WOULD BE OUR HEAVENLY QUEEN MOTHER??? John 19:27 and Revelation 12:1-6. Ever read in CONTEXT of Mary "crowned" in Heaven what it says in Revelation 12:17??? What does "HER CHILDREN" indicate??? WHO'S children are we??? Got any pictures of your family??? Ever kiss a picture or image of your beloved family??? Do you ever ask your family to pray for you???

@@KristiLEvans1 , Another Sacrament that has salvation written all over it. "Real Presence" or Holy Eucharist Defense 1. "Pascal lamb" In Exodus 12:3-14 GOD "forever" liturgically commands the PASSOVER, as a means of proper worship, which REQUIRED the "lamb" to be consumed for "Death to Passover". Jesus, the "Lamb of GOD" (John 1:29, 1 Corinthians 5:7, 1 Peter 1:19) transformed this "forever" GOD commanded PASSOVER Feast during the "Last Supper" in every synoptic Gospel account into the NEW COVENANT PASSOVER (Luke 22:19). Further, in CONTEXT of the PASSOVER (John 6:4) Jesus Christ's "Bread of LIFE" discourse REQUIRES us to "abide" in the "Lamb of GOD'S" BODY and BLOOD for "Death to Passover" (John 6:54-58). ***Protestants, Jesus states the consequences of not partaking of Him in John **6:53**.*** In John 6:60, everyone was disbelieving Jesus's "hard" teaching (John 6:54-58) about the Holy Eucharist. So, if you were Jesus how would you respond to people disbelieving you??? Wouldn't you want to provide some "proof" or "evidence" you mean what you say??? How does Jesus Christ respond to His disbelievers in John 6:60 and what "proof" will He provide per John 6:62??? 2. "Heavenly Manna" GOD provided "Spiritual Food and Drink" (1 Corinthians 10:1-4) to His old covenant people, so wouldn't Jesus Christ provide something for His NEW COVENANT chosen people??? Jesus Christ compares Himself to the old covenant "Heavenly Manna" in John 6:31-35. Jesus teaches the "Heavenly Manna" that came down "daily" will now actually be Him (John 6:51-58). In the "Our Father" prayer Jesus Christ is stating "give us THIS DAY OUR DAILY BREAD" referring to Himself as the "BREAD OF LIFE" (John 6:35, 48, 51). Acts 2:46. The Catholic Church has been "breaking bread (of LIFE) daily" of the NEW COVENANT PASSOVER (Luke 22:19) before the Book of Acts was even written in the mid 60's AD, all along since Jesus Christ's death in 33AD, and to this very day fulfilling Malachi 1:11 prophecy all across the world "daily"!!! 3. "HOW HE WAS MADE KNOWN TO THEM in the Breaking Bread" (Luke 24:35) In the Luke 24:13-35 "Road to Emmaus" scriptures there clearly is a "structure" being referrenced - being the NEW COVENANT PASSOVER or Catholic Mass. In Luke 24:27 there is an opening and interpreting of the Sacred Scriptures (Readings and Homily). Then, an explanation of how Jesus Christ fulfilled all the old covenant prophecies and covenant promises. Then, we have the "participation in" (1 Corinthians 10:16-17) of the NEW COVENANT PASSOVER "breaking of bread" where the "Lamb of GOD" Jesus Christ becomes "KNOWN" to us. Protestants what does Jesus Christ say to you refusing to "break bread" with Him in His ONE and ONLY "Kingdom of GOD" here on earth being the ONE HOLY CATHOLIC AND APOSTOLIC CHURCH per Luke 7:21-23??? Still saved??? 4. "Bread of the PRESENCE" Along with the Passover, GOD "forever" liturgically commands the "Bread of the PRESENCE" to be part of His proper worship in Leviticus 24:5-9. In the old Jewish Temple, the old "Heaven and Earth" of worship, a veil seperated two main worship rooms. In the outer room housed the "Bread of the PRESENCE" and it was separated by the veil from the inner room called the HOLY of HOLIES that no one but the High Priest could go. This HOLY of HOLIES is where Jews believed God's "real presence" remained. So, when Jesus Christ died the veil was "torn" (Matthew 27:51, Mark 15:38, Luke 23:45) that separated the HOLY of HOLIES and the "Bread of the PRESENCE" in the outer room, so there was no longer any barrier (liturgically speaking) between GOD'S presence and the "Bread of the PRESENCE" (Matthew 28:20). So, if the veil was "torn" allowing GOD'S presence in the Holy of Holies to flow to the "BREAD of the PRESENCE" in the outer room of worship, then what does the Holy Eucharist "Bread of the PRESENCE" truly become in the fulfilled NEW COVENANT FORM??? 5. "ONE BREAD ONE BODY" 1 Corinthians 10:16-17. If the "many" become "ONE BODY" through "participation in" the ONE SACRIFICE of the "Lamb of GOD" Jesus Christ in the NEW COVENANT PASSOVER, then how can the Holy Eucharist possibly be a mere symbol??? Truly, we can ONLY become ONE BODY (1 Corinthians 10:16-17, Ephesians 5:29-32), ONE FLOCK (John 10:16), ONE TEMPLE (1 Corinthians 3:17), ONE CHURCH (Ephesians 4:4-6), ONE BRIDE (2 Corinthians 11:2) through the "ONE" Jesus Christ (John 6:54-58) the "Lamb of God" (John 1:29, 1 Corinthians 5:7, 1 Peter 1:19) in the "Marriage Supper of the Lamb" (Revelation 19:9) NEW COVENANT PASSOVER (Luke 22:19). 6. "EAT AND DRINK JUDGMENT UPON OURSELVES" 1 Corinthians 11:27-29. If "partaking unworthily" is "eating and drinking JUDGMENT upon ourselves", then how in the world rationally and logically can the Holy Eucharist merely and simply be a symbol as Protestants purport??? 7. Partaking of "Divinity" (John 6:55-56, 2 Peter 1:4, Catechism #460) to become a true Son or Daughter of GOD. In the Garden of Eden man was created in the "image" and "likeness" of GOD. Through Adam and Eve's disobedience it caused us to lose our "likeness" to GOD (original sin). For GOD's "likeness" and goodness can never mix with sin. (John 3:6, Romans Chapter 5) Jesus Christ is the NEW ADAM OF OBEDIENCE. In God's beautiful salvation plan He takes a "do not partake" disobedience and removal of the "TREE OF LIFE" (Genesis 3:23) from sinful Adam and Eve and transforms it to telling us "to partake" of the "TREE OF LIFE" (John 6:54-58, Revelation 22:2, 14) through the NEW ADAM OF OBEDIENCE (Romans 5:12-21) Jesus Christ the "Lamb of God". Catholics receive His "divinity" in the Holy Eucharist obtaining our "likeness" back if we partake "worthily" (1 Corinthians 11:27-29) and thereby we truly become "divine" Sons and Daughters of GOD. We "unite" with the "Son" Jesus Christ the NEW ADAM (Romans 5:12-21). As a result, we become a part of GOD'S NEW CREATION (2 Corinthians 5:17, Galatians 6:15, Ephesians 1:10, Colossians 1:15-17, 20) here on earth. The "TREE OF LIFE" hangs above every Catholic Church altar. 8. "Thanksgiving" or Jewish Todah In this Jewish Messianic prophecy feast the "lamb" sacrifice had to occur at the same time the "bread and wine" was consecrated. Just as the Jews believed they were "participating in" the original and timeless first PASSOVER when celebrating their old covenant "forever" GOD commanded Passover (Exodus 12:14), so do Catholics believe we are "participating in" the ONE SACRIFICE of Jesus Christ during the consecration of the bread and wine (1 Corinthians 10:16-17) in the NEW COVENANT PASSOVER. The Greek "Eucharistia" or English meaning "Thanksgiving" being the One Holy "Eucharist" is the source, summit, and ultimate high point of worship in the NEW COVENANT. 9. "Marriage Supper of the Lamb" (Revelation 19:9). Every CATHOLIC during the NEW COVENANT PASSOVER "Mass" enters the aisle and approaches the "Bridegroom" Jesus Christ the "Lamb of God" who hangs above every single altar. We get to see the "Bridegroom" who emptied Himself out on the cross for His ONE and ONLY "BRIDE" the ONE HOLY CATHOLIC AND APOSTOLIC CHURCH. The "right and just" response of each and every Catholic is to give all of ourselves back to Him in the "Marriage Supper of the Lamb". Historical support per Early Church Father beliefs on the "Real Presence" Holy Eucharist: www.therealpresence.org/eucharst/father/a5.html Be "ONE WITH CHRIST" by accepting His ONE and ONLY BODY in the ONE HOLY CATHOLIC AND APOSTOLIC CHURCH. ,

@One for all , **GOD wants to be worshipped HIS WAY no longer in an old covenant Jewish way and definately not in 35,000 and growing Protestant "man made" Golden Calf ways.*** BIBLICAL “FOREVER” COMMANDS OF WORSHIP Does your Church meet the “forever” historical link all the way back to Judaism when Jesus Christ died on the cross, and from that point on until this very day celebrate the fulfillment of these “forever” liturgical worship commands of GOD in their “perfected” NEW COVENANT FORM? 1. Passover Feast (Exodus 12:14, 24) Jesus during the “Last Supper” transformed the “forever” GOD commanded Passover by replacing the lamb with Himself in all the Gospel accounts. (Jesus is described as the “Lamb of GOD” in John 1:29, 1 Peter 1:19, and in 1 Corinthians 5:7 “Christ, our Passover Lamb, has been sacrificed for us”) In the OT, everyone celebrating the Passover Feast was commanded by GOD to eat the meat of the lamb for death to “Passover”. Could a Hebrew or later practicing Jew only “symbolically” eat the lamb and obey GOD??? Jesus was being liturgically consistent with the original “forever” OT Passover commands to “eat the meat of the lamb” culminating in His “hard” teaching in John 6:53-54: “Truly, Truly, I say to you, UNLESS you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, YOU DO NOT HAVE LIFE IN YOU. Tabernacle Bread of the Presence (Leviticus 24:5-9, Exodus 25:30) Jesus Christ becomes the true fulfilled “Bread of the Presence” during the Mass consecration. (CCC #1378) 8. Leviticus Priesthood (Exodus 29:7-9, Exodus 40:15, 1 Chronicles 23:13, *Numbers 25:12-13, *Jeremiah 33:14-22, *Isaiah 66:21, Malachi 2:4-7, Malachi 3:3) Jesus fulfills the Levi Covenant promise by ordaining and reconciling the 12 apostles (tribes) for priesthood in the Upper Room to “do this in remembrance of me” (CCC #611, 1337). Proof? John 13:1-20 Jesus prior to His passion washes and “purifies” the Apostles to prepare them for priestly altar work (fulfilling Malachi 3:3 and the “forever” priest washing in Exodus 30:21). Like OT “Forever” Feasts, a Leviticus form of priesthood has to preside at the altar of sacrifice, be washed, and ultimately has to abstain or be celibate to even touch the “Bread of the Presence” (CCC # 1541-2) Jesus is the “pure offering” presented by the priesthood through “daily” Mass across the world fulfilling Malachi 1:11 prophesy. 9. Priest Washing (Exodus 30:21) CC Priests complete a washing before consecration (CCC #1337) 10. Priestly Share (Numbers 18:22-23) CC Priests are the first partakers of the Holy Eucharist, and receive offerings to the Church (CCC #2043) 11. Animal Sacrifice (Leviticus 7:36-38; Deuteronomy 12:26-28, Exodus 29:42) Jesus is the described fulfillment “Lamb of GOD” (John 1:29 and 1 Corinthians 5:7) (CCC #608, 613) 12. Grain Offering (Leviticus 6:9-11; 23:13-14) CC has bread and wine offering from parishioners brought up to the priests and the altar. (CCC #1334, 1350) 13. Incense Burning (Exodus 30:8) CC Mass celebrate with incense on various occasions. (CCC #1154) 14. Sabbath - Mark 2:28, Matthew 12:8, Luke 6:5 “For the Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath”. The day our Risen Lord showed us what to do in Luke 24:13-35 and “how He was made known to them in the breaking of the bread”. The risen Jesus obeys His Heavenly Father's "perpetual" celebration command being on "the day after Sabbath" per Leviticus 23:11-14, Pentecost 15-21, and verse 39 Tabernacle Feast being the “First day” and “Eighth Day” which is one in the same SUNDAY or “First Day of the Week”. CC follows our Risen Lord’s lead with “breaking of bread” or celebrating the “forever” NEW COVENANT PASSOVER on Sundays. CC even fulfills Jesus’s “Our Father” prayer “give us this day our daily bread” (Jesus compared Himself to OT manna in John 6:31-35) by providing the NEW COVENANT PASSOVER “daily”. The Hebrew word “olam” or English translations “forever, everlasting, or perpetual” was clearly understood by the Jewish people as they still are “forever” obeying GOD’s liturgical commands and celebrating a form of the original Passover, Unleavened Bread, Day of Atonement, and Tabernacle Feasts to this very day. JESUS CHRIST IS THE NEW ADAM (Romans 5:12-21) making us part of the NEW CREATION ( 2 CORINTHIANS 5:17, GALATIANS 6:15) to enter into the NEW HEAVEN AND NEW EARTH of worship (Isaiah 66:18-23).NEW ADAM + NEW CREATION + NEW HEAVEN AND NEW EARTH = NEW SABBATH (Pentecost is "forever" GOD commanded on what "day" in Leviticus 23:15 with a day of rest in verse 21??? Hebrews 4:7-9??? "HE AGAIN SETS A CERTAIN DAY ” AND “ GOD WOULD NOT SPEAK LATER OF ANOTHER DAY " ). So, if the Church was "born" on Pentecost through the "same day" the NEW ADAM was resurrected on, then what "day" would we get "reborn" (John 3:5) on to "LIVE in the "Spirit of the law" (Romans 8:2) being LOVE (John 13:34) of the NEW COVENANT???

Well, first of all the Word of God isn’t just the Scriptures, so we wouldn’t necessarily need to find it in Scripture. You’re asking for explicitness in Scripture. Well, for one, Catholics believe in Scripture and Tradition, which the Jews also used, and the New Testament supports. We believe God transmits the Word through two ways, Tradition and Scripture, which the Jews also believed. Paul says to obey the traditions that the Apostles handed to us, and he says by word of mouth (tradition) or letter (Scripture). The early Christians didn’t have Bibles, or even a Bible Canon and relied on Church Tradition. The Bible was in fact, compiled by the Catholic Church, using Tradition, and actually the Mass. So without the Catholic Church, since the early Christians didn’t preserve a Bible Canon, and the Bible itself doesn’t have a Bible Canon, then we would need an Authority to tell us what is Scripture and what is not. Is Enoch inspired? How many Gospels are there? This is something the Catholic Church infallibly stated in Church Councils. Furthermore, the New Testament references traditions not found in the Old Testament such as when Jesus mentions a “seat of Moses”, which was in the Jewish Talmud, which was originally oral tradition. Something not found in the OT. The New Testament also quotes a prophecy about the Messiah being a Nazarene even though this is not found in the OT, and likely another tradition. The Scriptures again tell us to entrust the traditions handed to us to righteous people. And the earliest Christians we can find were all Catholic. In fact Catholicism is what we find throughout all the early Church. It wasn’t until the Enlightenment era and Martin Luther that sola scriptura (Scripure alone) and Protestant Christianity even came up. I can cite Saint Ignatius of Antioch, a direct disciple of Saint John the Apostle, as writing doctrines that are Catholic. Also, many of our doctrines and our understanding of basics like the Trinity come from the Catholic Church. Trinity isn’t found in Scripture, and yet is something practically all Christians use.

Denying Mary is the Mother of God really makes no sense. I’m quoting a website: The first Christians called Mary the “Mother of God” without hesitation. There was scriptural precedent, and it seemed logical. If Jesus was God, and Mary was his mother, then that made her the Mother of God. That sort of logic depends on a principle called the “Communication of Idioms.” According to that principle, whatever one says about either of Christ’s natures can be truly said of Christ himself. That’s because His two natures, the divine nature and the human nature, were united in Him. He is one divine person. In the fifth century, however, some people raised the same objections to the title that many non-Catholics raise today: They argued that the title “Mother of God” implied that Mary was the “originator of God.” Those objectors said that they could accept the title “Mother of Christ,” but not “Mother of God.” At the heart of those objections, however, was an objection to the unity of Christ’s two natures. Mary, they claimed, gave birth only to Christ’s human nature, not his divine nature. The Church, led by Pope Celestine I and St. Cyril of Alexandria, disagreed. As St. Cyril pointed out, a mother gives birth to a person, not a nature. Accordingly, Mary gave birth to Jesus Christ, who was and is a divine person. Although Mary did not “originate” or “generate” God, she did bear Him in her womb and give birth to Him. She was God’s mother.

@@kyrptonite1825 the problem here is that what the Jews were doing God gave them to show them how badly they needed a savior when Jesus came and died and rose again he fulfilled the law so all of those traditions went away. The way Catholics are doing all this today as if Christ never came and died on the cross and rose again. Also let's look at the first Christians they were the apostles and those that the became saved as a result of what the apostles we're teaching. Go read the book of acts and Romans. It's very very clear none of them taught anything like what the Roman Catholic church does and they were the foundation to spread want Jesus was already teaching. If we needed to rely also on traditions don't you think they would have said something ?? They absolutely would have. They relyed on scripture and Christ alone . They went into the synagogue only to be amongst the Jews they were trying to tell about Jesus. They quite often quoted written down scripture and then began to write letters to the believers that taught the truth to help them on their walk with God. Even a group called the Bereans studied the scriptures to make sure what message they received from Paul I believe was correct. We are told to hold everything against scripture that is what the Bible teaches. There are so many things that The Roman Catholic church is against however is plainly taught in scripture. How does that happen ? Unless they decided to make up their own man made religions with a Christian feel. That's exactly what we see I'm history many peoples like gnostics who took some info they liked from Christianity along with their pagan beliefs and created something new. Catholism was birthed out of a similar type of way. The reason it became so big was because of the authority they gave themselves this did not come from Jesus the rulers of the Roman empire did this and of course because of their might and covering on the earth they were able to make this happen. When you look at the church today all you see is authority in the name of Jesus. One day God tells us that people will say Lord Lord didnt we do this and that in your name and he will say part from me you evil doers. That should be alarming. There are so many holes in catholism. Thus, too, they preached of the advent of God in the flesh to the world, his advent by the spotless and God-bearing (theotokos) Mary in the way of birth and growth” (Discourse on the End of the World 1 [A.D. 217]). They came to the church of the most blessed Mother of God, and ever-virgin Mary, which, as we began to say, he had constructed in the western quarter, in a suburb, for a cemetery of the martyrs” (The Genuine Acts of Peter of Alexandria [A.D. 305]). “We acknowledge the resurrection of the dead, of which Jesus Christ our Lord became the firstling; he bore a body not in appearance but in truth derived from Mary the Mother of God” (Letter to All Non-Egyptian Bishops 12 [A.D. 324]). “While the old man [Simeon] was thus exultant, and rejoicing with exceeding great and holy joy, that which had before been spoken of in a figure by the prophet Isaiah, the holy Mother of God now manifestly fulfilled” (Oration on Simeon and Anna 7 [A.D. 305]). “The Virgin Mary, being obedient to his word, received from an angel the glad tidings that she would bear God” (Against Heresies, 5:19:1 [A.D. 189]). “The Father bears witness from heaven to his Son. The Holy Spirit bears witness, coming down bodily in the form of a dove. The archangel Gabriel bears witness, bringing the good tidings to Mary. I had a lot of Catholic instruction and almost none of it was about Mary. The Catholic Church accepts the fact that simple people will pray to Mary and its saints and that they will ask for things and "godly services". That's what simple people do. They are not priests, they are not theologians and there is no belief within the Church that god takes offense in simple people doing things that priests know better not to do. That is no different from Judaism. Every Rabbi can tell you that he performs a different routine from what most Jewish people will do. That's why he is a Rabbi and they are not.

Perhaps many people in lower positions in the Catholic church do not believe these dogmas and thus do not teach them to the regular people, simply because they've recognized they're not true. @@lepidoptera9337 Well that sure makes sense for a church in which the enemy is simply content with harmful enough deception. Doctrine wise they promote false teaching on Jesus and salvation! But then they don't care too much what you believe. Oh but they do care about you being an official member, so they do like to keep you close. And when they do, what they give you is teaching such as false teaching on salvation, only being allowed to parttake in the Lord's supper (if that is the phrase in English?) as an official member, sin confession and your priest speaking a blessing of forgiveness over you???? And that also only being available for official members of the Catholic church... that's just insane, but it makes a lot of sense viewed through the lense of an enemy who is simply content to deceive enough to have people lose their souls. 1-3) All Christians subject themselves to one of four authority traditions under the Son of the Living God: Catholic/Eastern Orthodox, High Protestantism (Anglican/Lutheran, etc.,) American Christianity (Reformed, Non-Denominational, Evangelical), or their own private Opinion. Of all these "churches," only the Catholic Church has the spiritual and historical commission back to the Apostles and Jesus Christ. Private Opinion is condemned in 2nd Peter, and thus as an Athiest would say, you are a product of your religious environment. 2) The Bible and Infallible Judgement. It is a historical fact the official closed canon of Scripture came in the second half of the 4th Century (Councils of Hippo, Carthage, Rome.) If you grant Scripture is "the infallible" word of God, you must give the Church Bishops "infallible judgment" by the Holy Spirit that picked the specific books of the canon. You cannot have one without the other. If you reject the 73 book closed canon based upon the argument of Martin Luther, then you are rejecting a closed canon of nearly 1100 years. If you accept any non-Catholic translation such as the King James Version, you still must grand the men who compiled that translation infallible judgment, which directly refutes the Protestant Position. Secondly, what Bible translation do you use, and is it a good translation? An excellent argument for an English translation is the King James Version (but not 1611); however, the Douay Rheims is a better version translated over 41-42 years. Thus what version do you give authority to, and why, and do you grant "infallible" judgment to the translators. If you don't, then your translation is not safe. 3) The 60-second Position of the Church for Salvation is a confession of belief and baptism, then love the Lord Jesus and keep his commandments: (Acts 8: "Then Philip, opening his mouth, and beginning at this Scripture, preached unto him, Jesus. [36] And as they went on their way, they came to a certain water; and the eunuch said: See, here is water: what doth hinder me from being baptized? [37] And Philip said: If thou believest with all thy heart, thou mayest. And he answering, said: I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. [38] And he commanded the chariot to stand still; and they went down into the water, both Philip and the eunuch: and he baptized him. [39] And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord took away Philip; and the eunuch saw him no more." "If you love me, keep my commandments."

The major problem I have with the concept of the perpetual virginity of Mary is that if that was true, then she did not fulfill her duty as wife to Joseph. First, I am NOT Roman Catholic, but rather a seeker and follower of the truth. I don't want to jump into anyone's bandwagon, whether Protestant or Catholic, just because they might have a few valid points point are ignoring the major issues. That's the same as winning a few battles, but losing the war. With that said: 2 Thess 2:15, "so then, brethren, stand firm and hold to the traditions which you were taught, whether by word of mouth or by letter from us." 2 Thess. 3:6, "Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you keep aloof from every brother who leads an unruly life and not according to the tradition which you received from us." Two among others that clearly show the early Church had 'letters' (epistles) AND TRADITIONS which they used. Some of these 'traditions' were written down and discussed by the early Church Fathers in their letters. These presented a clearer picture of what the early Church was like, and it was nothing like the Protestant Church we see today. Mary was discussed in these early 'traditions' and by the Early Church Fathers. And what they believed, taught and passed down was accepted by the earliest Protestant, Martin Luther. He believed in some of the doctrines about Mary that you attempt to mock here. In fact, were Luther alive today, he would be considered a heretic by the majority of Protestant, especially Evangelical, Churches. He would be asked to kindly find another Church to attend. Because there was a lot that Paul DIDN'T write about. We know some of these by the same traditions that are mentioned in 2 Thessalonians, among other verses, in the Bible. They were well known and taught in the early Church and circulated by tradition. Today we have them, amazingly enough, in both the Roman Catholic AND Orthodox Churches, as well as other Churches started by the apostles and early evangelizers that were followers of Jesus. The further we get away from the Reformation, the further we get away from the teachings of the early Church. How do we explain that? It's explained by the fact that the Protestant Church threw away with its arrogance and Sola Scriptura teaching the traditions that the early Church had always held to be true. That's why today it has fractured into over 22,000 divided churches (each claiming to have the truth) and has been the host of cults such as Mormonism, Jehovah's Witnesses, Seventh Day Adventists, and more.

I was in the Catholic Church ( I’ve read where I still am. That, supposedly, no one ever really “leaves” the Catholic Church without a fairly involved letter writing effort to various authorities, etc. ) for about ten years, and one of the things that set off my inner “uh-oh” was when they ( not all, but some such as Scott Hahn ) presented Mary as both Christ’s mother and wife. After hearing that a number of times, it became interesting to watch/listen to the theological dodging and weaving they inevitably had to engage in to try and justify that view. The really sad thing, for me, was to see how many people were simply taking it all in, unquestioningly. From my perspective, it wasn’t so much their simply accepting that belief, but it was the effects it had on so many by believing it. Their attention, their focus, it became very clear over time, was directed to Mary and away from the Lord. I found that really ironic, in that many of those promoting Mariology would try to justify it by saying Mary’s role was to point believers to the Lord and not herself. That wasn’t, and isn’t, the reality; rather, just the opposite is true regarding where the folks' attention and focus became given, and sad as well as spiritually tragic.

@@Peekaboo-Kitty Not entirely. You are looking at it from a European's and modernistic perspective, and not in the culture of Mediterranean and Middle East. Queen Mothers are like Royal Mothers, and that's what Mary is. Please carefully read the New Testament, especially Kings and Jeremiah. Also think about this. Mary bore Jesus, and that only happen with God giving her the child. Not that they had sexual relations or anything, God doesn't need to do that and nor he would do it. Because of this, Mary and God the Father are in partnership to bore Jesus. Wouldn't you call that a relationship in other terms? And far fetching it, but Mary is the Mother, and God is the Father... and Jesus is the Son. If Jesus is a King, what would it make Mary as? Queen Mother. The queen mother in Israel had a powerful influence in the kingdom. This power and authority flows from her status as Gebirah (queen mother) and not from her as a person. In Israel the queen mother preceded her son in existence, sometimes she would rule in his stead (Cf. 2 Kings 10:13: "We are kinsmen of Ahaziah," they replied. "We are going down to visit the princes and the family of the queen mother" and at times also abuse her authority. (Cf. 2 Jeremiah 13:18: "Say to the king and to the queen mother: come down from your throne.") Gebirah doesn't have the same exact meaning as Queen in a European or English sense. As Queen Mother Mary never rules in Christ's stead; she does not , command her Son, yet He is inclined to fulfill her wishes. Her authority in the kingdom is authentic but always dependent on the King. (Cf. John 2:5. 'Do whatever He tells you.') A queen mother played a significant role in the establishment of her son upon the throne. "This does not simply mean that she conveyed 'royal blood' as a result of her marriage to the king, his father. There were usually many possible heirs to the throne and it often happened that the least likely candidate (from a legal point of view it was the first-born who should have succeeded to the throne) became king." Because the king had many wives, he entrusted the education of his children to their mothers. She chose the heir to the throne and hence she was responsible for his reign and closely linked with the exercise of his kingship. Applied to Mary, we can observe that she too is closely related to Christ's kingship and her whole being is involved in the spread of His kingdom. In contrast to many of the queen mothers, Mary did not seek the throne for her Son because of any personal ambition. Her ministry was one of service, to the point of sacrificing her motherly rights for our sake. The queen mother of Israel interceded in behalf of the subjects of the kingdom. She was their most powerful, and therefore preferred, advocate. Her specific place of honor and intercession is dramatically illustrated in the following passage from 1 Kings 2: 13-21: "Adonijah, son of Haggith, went to Bathsheba. the mother of Solomon. "Do you come as a friend?" she asked. "Yes," he answered and added. "I have something to ask to you." She replied, "Say it." So he said, "There is one favor I would ask of you. Do not refuse me." And she said, "Speak on." He said, "Please ask King Solomon, who will not refuse you, to give me Abishag the Shunamite for my wife." "Very well," replied Bathsheba, "I will speak to the king for you." Then Bathsheba went to King Solomon to speak to him for Adonijah, and the king stood up to meet her and paid her homage. Then he sat down upon his throne, and a throne was provided for the king's mother, who sat at his right. "There is one small favor l would ask of you," she said. "Do not refuse me." "Ask It, my mother," the king said to her, "for I will not refuse you. So she said, "Let Abishag the Shunamite be given to your brother Adonijah for his wife." Mary's queenly function consists in interceding on our behalf. It is anchored in her early role as Mother of the Redeemer and Mother of the redeemed. John 2:5 "Do whatever He tells you" Why before this verse, Jesus asked her "O woman, what have you to do with me?" Asking as if she had the authority or the nerve, but in the end, Jesus did what Mary asked her. Isn't that quite amusing? Why would the Lord, our Savior, follow someone who is just a mere creature... unless He has special relations with that one. In this case, Mary wasn't just a mother who took care of Jesus while He was still an infant and kid, but it continued on till his adulthood. Mary was still a motherly figure to Jesus, and as such can be compared as a Queen Mother to a King. That is why Catholics (and not just Catholics, but Orthodox, Anglican, Lutheran, Coptic, and other older churches) know, believe and view Mary as the Mother of God and Queen of Heaven.

@@Peekaboo-Kitty If you studied Judaism and read the Bible, then clearly you should know there are other mothers who are mentioned in the Bible, even one taking on their position as Queen Mother even to her grandson. Just because you studied something for a very long time doesn't mean you know everything, or scholarly attributed to that subject. Persian culture is different compared to Jewish culture. In addition, you didn't even mention other empires like that of Assyrian, Egypt and other African and Middle Eastern cultures. Yes, queen dowager and all, but they still had a position, and was able to direct their sons or advise them. That's why Queen Mothers are important, especially for those kings who have many wives. Why David's mother isn't mentioned? because God didn't chose her to help lead Israel, only David. Mary on the other hand is a different case. God directly talked to her through an angel. Naamah Micaiah Azubah Athaliah Jezebel among others Those are mothers of kings, who historically are called Queen Mothers, *Gebirah* . Yes, indeed marriages end after death, because we are all married to God in Heaven, but who says that family ties in terms of love won't exist between people? Actually, the even broader question is that, who says people in heaven do not take care of their loved ones who they left on Earth? Why do you think that your loved ones who have died won't pray for you, or watch over you? Isn't our Christian Church one whole big family? Who said Mary has authority over other Christians? Why is your mindset like that? Where does it say that Christians in Heaven, or souls in Heaven, cannot intercede for us, especially Mary? Actually, I wonder, do you only view Mary as some sort of vessel to carry Jesus in her womb? I thought God is all about love. Isn't love first primarily found in families? Aren't families usually and generally an example of an act of love? Why would God discard that aspect, when we are suppose to love one another? Would you just discard your own parents, especially someone who bore you? When we Catholics view her as Queen, it's because she is the mother of God, Jesus. Queen Mother. Just like a motherly figure, she took care and loved her Son, and because of that, she also loves us, as we are God's creatures. She isn't some dictator, who gives orders every time. She is a loving mother who loves everyone and takes care of everyone, just like how other souls in Heaven are doing. Her status as being Jesus's mother enhances her position. That is why Jesus gave her to us in such aspect. "Behold your mother" Who told you because she is "Queen" we are suppose to bow down and kiss her every time? Catholics don't do that and see her in that view. It's all about honor and respect. Your view of her as "Queen" doesn't coincide with what Catholics say she is as our Queen. Indeed God is our ultimate Lord and our only God, Mary is just a creature, but a revered and holy one, and we don't worship her. Only God is worshipped. Without her help, we wouldn't be able to attain salvation at all, especially we wouldn't be able to receive Jesus. Jesus's ministry started because of her at the Wedding of Cana. Jesus' life started because of her because she gave birth to Him in Bethlehem. Our salvation wouldn't be able to attained if it weren't for her saying *yes* to God to bore our Savior. Like I said, Mary is like a loving mother. Have you seen her stop Jesus from His ministry? No. In fact, she helped started His ministry, and followed Him through His life, even after death and resurrection. Like I said, this view of Mary being a holy and revered creature is exemplified and exists in old apostolic Christian groups, not just the Catholic Church. Early Christians view her as such too. If you believe in Bible alone, yet you explore history, you'll be contradicting yourself. God Bless.

@guyslogic777 Not everything true that is associated with salvation is specifically in the Bible. To take the Fundamentalist view that the Bible is the complete Word is theologically wrong, misleading, confuses people, and false doctrine. In fact, Jesus Himself said and did many things that were not recorded....the Gospels themselves say that. And the truths of Mary's Assumption, Immaculate Conception, and perpetual virginity are not in the Bible, but are yet spiritual and theological truths. In fact, the Apostle John was given a vision IN the Bible (Rev: 12:1) showing Mary''s glory in Heaven.

What is the difference between Catholicism and Protestantism ? Protestantism is a religious philosophy - a hearer and not doer of the Word thus deceiving themselves - James 1:22. While there is belief in Christ to be sure, there is no substance, no forms of worship and thanksgiving to our God Jesus for His - WORKS - of creation and redemption. There is no Confession as per the formula that Jesus gave on the very day of His Resurrection from the dead , when He - empowered - His Apostles to forgive sins - or - retain them- John 20:22-23. There is no participation in Holy Communion which Jesus declared was - Real Food and Drink - for ETERNAL LIFE - John 6:53-58. Even their churches have no kneelers to kneel and bow down before our God and Maker. And there is no difference between Protestant marriage and - easy - divorce and non-Christian ones. Protestants believe Jesus is a " magical God-Father " who is only there to forgive them all sins and to usher them into Heaven without any action on their part. They ignore that Jesus " executed " the couple Ananias and Sapphira from the 1st Christian - Faith - community for just dishonesty and lying - Acts 5. And this was shortly after He ascended into Heaven. And that Jesus threatened to vomit out the Laodicean church just for being lukewarm - Revelation 3. That this is the same God that dealt so angrily with the OT people for their sins, even sending them to a 70 year Babylonian exile. That this is the same God who declared that - MORE - is expected of Christians to whom much has been entrusted - Luke 12:48 - because we have the perfect example - Jesus. Fact is that there are 2 versions of Jesus = the Protestant version - and - the Catholic Biblical version. God is able to do all things. Jesus could have remained in Heaven and forgiven our sins, opened Heaven's gates to all, and did not have to come down to earth and live as one of us and die a cruel death. However, God goes to = extremes = to prove His love for us. But God has - expectations - and requires - More - from Christians because we have the perfect example of Jesus - Luke 12:48 From God's Expectations, Commandments and Testing come our guarantee of - eternal - salvation and Heavenly rewards. Jesus defined a Christian - Must take up your Cross daily, deny yourself and follow Me - Matthew 16:24. Jesus fasted - superhumanly - 40 days/nights. He dismissed Satan who mocked Him for fasting when He could have all the bread to eat - Matt. 4. Jesus dismissed Satan because Christianity is the way of the Cross Later, Jesus rebuked Peter as Satan when Peter tried to dissuade Jesus from His path of sufferings and death.- Matthew 16:23. And Jesus did not take the sour wine offered to Him whilst on the Cross to deaden the pain. Moreover, Jesus did a World of Works - John 21:25. Even Paul, like a faithful Christian= boasted =of the Cross -Galatians 6:14 Christian Rule of Thumb is that if anything is hard/difficult, it is from God. On the other hand, if it is -easy - it is not from God The fact is that there are Catholics who leave the Faith because they say it has too many rules and regulations. Of course, they don't realize it is that rules and regulations are like Commandments which were God-issued so that these create a - safe - boundary beyond which the devil, like a roaring lion, is prowling about seeking to devour. Yet, Protestantism has no rules and regulations, no requirements and only promotes - Easy - Christianity and cheap Grace. List of - Hard - Facts == Commandments = Love God and Neighbour, including Enemies = God's Testing = Strive to enter Heavenly narrow gates for Few will enter - Mat. 7:14 & Luke 13:23-24 = Confess to another - John 20:22-23 = Eat My Flesh, drink My Blood - Real Food and Drink- for Eternal Life - John 6:53-58 + Partake of Holy Communion, worthily - 1 Cor. 11:26-27 =Jesus' Parables requiring the multiplication of Talents, becoming more fruitful "soil," wise "virgins" carrying oil, etc.= Vengeance is Mine, I will repay; = Fasting, Prayer and Almsgiving - Rewarded by the Father who sees in secret - Matthew 6. = Jesus urged the necessity of praying always - Luke 18:1. Thus Catholics have adopted the responsibility of praying for others, just as Jesus urged Peter to pray and thereby strengthen the others - Luke 22:32. List of - Easy - Facts == With Faith alone, one is saved by Grace and name is written in the Lamb's Book of Life, never to be erased = God's Commandments and Testing have been overtaken by Jesus' sacrifice and covered with His Precious Blood. Moreover all sin debt - past, present and future - has been paid in full. Thus the Guarantee - Absent in the Flesh, present with the Lord, forever = The 4 Gospels were meant for the - lost - people of Israel. Now there is a new covenant in the Blood of the Lamb which means - Once Saved, Forever Saved = Works are unnecessary for Salvation and are boastful = And Christian Marriages that end in - easy - divorce and remarriages. (( End of Part 1. Note that Part 2 is continued below ))
@loboman8029
@loboman8029 Жыл бұрын
Part 2 What is the Gospel Message ?? The 4 books of the Bible, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John are titled - The Gospel - according to Matthew / Mark / Luke / John. This was the same Gospel message revealed to Paul by Jesus - Galatians 1:12 - which reflected the Teachings and Doings of Jesus and which Paul proclaimed - verbally - on his missionary journeys. Later on, after Paul had received reports from faithful and trustworthy members, he sent out letters to the churches he had established to commend them or to correct them and even provide more insight and clarification. The Bible titles these letters as - Epistles - to the various churches of Corinth, Philippi, etc. Thus, these Epistles were Paul's means of keeping in touch with, as well as providing a Review/Report of the status of the churches he wrote to and to whom he had previously preached - verbally - the Gospel. Besides, 2 of Paul's letters have gone missing - see 1 Cor. 5:9 and Col. 4:16 Common sense would therefore dictate that we place our doctrines and belief systems first and foremost on these Gospels, and keep everything else secondary. This is because our Salvation is the most important question we will ever face. It is thus obvious that these Epistles are way-down secondary to the 4 Gospels which Jesus brought from the Heavenly Father's = Authority, Mind and Heart = for our Salvation. Sadly, Protestants have based their - Doctrines - and belief systems on these commentaries and Epistles - instead - of the 4 Gospels. They have created doctrines that require no Confession as per Jesus' formula, denial of the - Real Presence - of Jesus in Holy Communion, and also deny the need for Good Works despite that the Great Judgement is based on Works - Matthew 25. By declaring that only Faith is necessary for Salvation, they have effectively cancelled the Cross - the very symbol of Christianity. Yet even Paul, like a faithful Christian, boasted of the Cross -Galatians 6:14, Question = Will Protestants be raptured ? Will they be saved.?

I think you might be misunderstanding what typology is. A type is not merely a picture or analogy. Types are events, rituals, or people from the OT that anticipate Christ and his work in some way (the sacrificial Passover lamb whose blood covers us and causes judgement to pass us by, for example, is a type of Christ). A three-legged stool is not a type of the Trinity because it doesn't appear in Scripture at all. It's just an analogy meant to help you understand the Trinity (though not a particularly good one).

Mike seems like a nice guy, but here he really illustrates only a surface understanding of the Catholic teachings on Mary. His consistent implication that the beliefs in Mary as Ark of the New Covenant, or the New Eve were somewhat recently developed or expounded upon are easily demonstrated to be false. These beliefs were already firmly established in the early church and can be found in writings from around the year 100. He also has done a lot of straw-manning, not presenting the arguments in their best forms. Taking bits of quotes out of Hahn's talk doesn't mean that he is capturing the context.

@@ghostapostle7225 You and Scott Hahn should go and study the early Church Fathers before making such RCC propagandist statements. The Church Fathers already differed from the Bishop of Rome in the +- 180 AD. Problems started early in Rome when some of them (Bishops) wanted to become Papa/ Pope - and especially the main culprit being after succeeding St. Eleutherius in 189 AD in Rome, (St) Victor 1 tried to assert Roman (that is the Roman bishop's) authority in the early Christian church. Most notably, he tried to sanction the Roman date for Easter over that celebrated by the Quartodeciman of Asia Minor, who kept the holiday on 14 Nisan rather than on the following Sunday. His attempts were rejected by the other bishops. Still, Victor’s threat was reputedly the first papal act to influence the ecclesiastical affairs of the Eastern patriarchs.Thereupon Victor, who presided over the church at Rome, immediately attempted to cut off from the common unity the parishes of all Asia(?!), with the churches that agreed with them, as heterodox; and he wrote letters and declared all the brethren there wholly excommunicate” (Life of Constantine, ch. XXIV). But the practice continued with the Asiatic churches, and in the year 325ad at the Council of Nicea, those who were faithful to the Quartodeciman Passover were declared anathema for holding on to the customs handed down by the Apostles themselves to Polycarp?! Here we see how the first EVIL roots of Papal positional power-hunger resulted in calling the faithful under st Polycarp, Bishop of Smyrna, heretics! So you are saying based on the atrocities and bad theology of bishop (Pope) Victor 1 that the Roman branch of the Catholic Christian faith is the (only) true church? What st Cyprian bishop of Carthage, said in 250 AD: "a great many bishops from the provinces of Africa, Numidia, and Mauritania, had met together at Carthage, together with the presbyters and deacons, and a considerable part of the congregation who were also present ... For neither does any of us set himself up as a bishop of bishops, nor by tyrannical terror does any compel his colleague to the necessity of obedience; since every bishop, according to the allowance of his liberty and power, has his own proper right of judgment, and can no more be judged by another than he himself can judge another. (The Seventh Council of Carthage Under Cyprian, The Judgment of Eighty-Seven Bishops on the Baptism of Heretics, 250 AD). So we see this Papacy positioning was still a custom not acceptable in the early church by this COUNCIL. PLEASE indicate which early "Church Fathers" are you speaking of? Clearly history indicates that the RCC propaganda is not supported... or do you have some mystic knowledge??

But I wonder if we hadn't been brought up in a sharply divided home, would we ever have sought out the truth? It's hard not to see it as a blessing when looking at it from this vantage point, but the fighting and the terrible times we endured back then were so traumatizing. I never saw the reason why we needed to go to confession and tell a priest our sins so he could go to the Lord on our behalf. That never made sense to me. And I think I always sensed something was wrong with praying to Mary and various saints. I believe God revealed those bits of truth to me to drive a wedge and get me out of Catholicism. None of us were going the way of my father, but those seeds of doubt about Catholicism were necessary. I'm just grateful to be able to see the wrongness in both of those religions, as well as to see it also in Mormonism, etc, etc. There are so very many ways to be lead down the wrong path. Catholics do believe that Christ's dying on the Cross as the Lamb of God has saved all mankind. However, Christ did not come as a man and head straight to Calvary; He came through Mary as prophesied in Matt. 1: 22-23. He lived among us, was held/touched/kissed/mocked/beaten/betrayed/crown with thorns/and finally crucified. Catholics believe that the entire life of Christ, from the visitation of the angel Gabriel to the Cross is vital to us......each event/each parable/each teaching/each miracle/each encounter with Christ can help us to reach heaven. So, we take His Words, ' Follow Me ' seriously........each step with Him leading to heaven.

@@miketeixeira7853 what you say is very true and traditional Catholicism is beautiful. However, there is no denying the doctrines of Rome, surrounding Mary, are not Biblical. For me, personally, that was the show stopper. What I absolutely love about Catholicism is that worship, mindfulness about and veneration of the Triune Godhead, is a way of life. But inserting Mary between us and Christ, or asking the earthly-deceased saints to pray for us, is where there is a straying from the direct teachings of Christ. I understand that the church says that these things have always been taught, but even Church scholars like Fr. Pacwa acknowledge that doctrines developed over time. So yes, we can apply different rules, because there is no basis for Mary typology in the scriptures. No apostles give any indication that we should start using typology on Mary. Anna Pennrose Did you watch the video? He specifically addresses all of that in great detail and debunks it. The comment section is for FURTHER discussion. Not to rehash what the video already said. It’s a jumbled and misrepresented parallel. ALSO, even if it was a perfect parallel, (which it isn’t because the timeline of Samuel is being moved around to suit your needs), it doesn’t justify creating non explicit theology. A type never created new theology, it simply is a picture. That’s all. A biblical metaphor. You are using metaphors to prove theology that isn’t in the Bible. I have no issue even if you were right about that parallel. My issue comes when these metaphors are being used to say Mary was sinless (neversaid in scripture), that she was permanently a virgin (never stated in scripture), that she never died (never stated in scripture). It’s just assumptions made on strung together types. We don’t string metaphors together for Jesus. We use the ones provided to us by the NT writers and Jesus himself. So yes. It’s a coincidence. The Bible is massive. I can draw parallels between a lot of things. The ones we SHOULD USE are the ones the NT writers point out.

Well, as a confessional Lutheran I want to put it out there that Luther and Calvin (just to name two prominent reformers) held to Marry's perpetual virginity. I am very wary of casting out the baby with the bath water when it comes to church teaching up till the reformation (but I am also aware that Luther called this a pious opinion and not a dogma). Jesus gave Mary into the care of the beloved disciple because he had no biological siblings as far as I can tell. It would have been against Jewish law for him to do so if he did have siblings. That's just the most compelling argument to me. We also have writings from ancient Christians such as St. Jerome that fiercely defend the perpetual virginity. I mean these are OLD documents. I'm not about to entertain conspiracy theories about the council of Nicaea either- just wanted to share my thoughts. God has preserved such beautiful truths in His church despite millennia of persecution.

@Beanie Bear Let me address the later of your objections. There is a Greek grammatical argument that is well-documented concerning the "until" language. Just because the text says something hadn't happened "until" does not mean in that language setting that it happened afterward. It's a bit foreign to English-speakers of today. It's saying "up to that point" this was true of her. It's not saying it wasn't true after that point at all. I don't suppose Mary was expecting to be the God-bearer, so her plans to be married and all that entailed (if she had any say in the matter in the first place given marriage practices at the time) were changed at the annunciation. And she of course gave her consent: "Let everything you have said about me come true." I don't claim to know enough about the Adelphos argument to adequately address or articulate it. I will say that it wasn't unheard of to use that word to describe multiple different familial relations such as cousin. www.pseudepigraph.us/2016/08/09/translated-francis-piepers-footnotes-on-the-perpetual-virginity-of-mary/ this short article is pretty decent, if you're interested. I believe it is according to historical rabbinic thought that the Torah commands children to take care of their parents- especially as they age; day-by-day, meal-by-meal. I don't think the role of caretaker is ever prescribed to someone who is not family. I don't know whether or not a first-born could do whatever he wanted in that respect, "probably not" would be my assertion. I hope this answers your questions all right. The "queen" mentioned in Jeremiah does not apply to Mary, because that was a false, pagan one. Mary is the queen of the Davidic kingdom of heaven, simply because her son is the king. (Jeremiah used a Hebrew word for 'queen' that was never applied to the queen of Israel.)That's how it worked in the Biblical kingdom of God (aka kingdom of Israel, kingdom of the LORD, kingdom of heaven, see Samuels, Kings, Chronicles, Psalms, Gospels). If you want to hear the full talk from Scott Hahn that Mike Winger played, the video on KZfaq is called "Dr Scott Hahn The Virgin Mary Revealed Through Scripture". You can type that in the search box, and it will take you to the video. I posted a link, but my comment wouldn't show to the public I posted it earlier. I only listened to the first 25 minutes of the talk, and I already some problems. I point out two main ones. 1) Mike Winger started off playing the video at John 2 to point to the New Eve. Scott Hahn said a lot more before he went into John 2. He pointed the early Christians (called the early Church Fathers in the Catholic and Orthodox Church) that explains how Mary is the New Eve using Genesis. Mike may not see the reference in John 2, but exegesis of Genesis comparing Eve and Mary was mentioned before Scott Hahn talked about John 2 and the Marriage in Caana. I believe Hahn quoted either Justyn Martyr or Irenaus of Lyon (both who lived within the first two centuries of Christianity) 2) Mike Winger said in 19:40 he doesn't see an Adam theme in the passage. This is my first hearing this elaboration, so I can say anything about it. What I can say that just because he doesn't see it doesn't mean it is not there. The best way to know what understand what Scott Hahn is saying is to listen further what he is saying after where Mike Winger stopped at (he did not play the parts after he stopped where Scott Hahn gave further explanation and connected that verse to Jesus passion) and look at other videos of Scott Hahn explanation. I can't speak for Scott Hahn. Update: I listened to 3 more minutes. I saw where Mike Winger did mentioned Genesis, but I really didn't hear is issue with that passage where the early Christians used that same passage to give their elaboration. Also, Mike said the New Testament doesn't say who foreshadowed Eve. Just because the New Testament doesn't explicitly say it, it doesn't mean there is not a New Eve. Acts 15 had a dispute about circumcision. The Old Testament never said anything about circumcision being abolish once the Messiah came. In the Council of Jerusalem, the Church leaders used Peter's testimony from Acts 10 to help come to the decision. Since the Old Testament doesn't say anything about abolishing circumcision, were the Church leaders wrong for saying gentiles don't need to be circumcised?

He (foolishly) accuses Scott of doing that himself, ignoring that the inconsistency has been around in non-Catholic translations for hundreds of years. Under Mike's translation, of course, he would have to conclude that Eve crushes the serpent, although that's silly to even consider given that Eve just gave into the serpent right before God said that.

It only convinces people who did not listen to Hahn's footage and have no background at all on the arguments behind it, but is inadequate proof for a learned Christian. Skipping references to early Christian witness to the argument is, i should say, a low blow. If Mike really thinks this is a made-up argument, then he should address the Early Fathers (primary source of this insight of Scripture) by citing a likewise early Christian writer sharing his opinion. You really cannot debunk an argument with merely an opinion of the passage (and skipping the solid references so that it only becomes "your personal interpretation vs. my personal interpretation") - it has to be properly backed up by a sound context provided by the early Church. 2 Peter 1:20.

That's the correct translation and it's the one that Fathers that Mike considers trustworthy in his videos on the Biblical canon (Justin Martyr and Irenaeus) used when they decided that Mary was the new Eve. You can consider, then, two options, one of which being that Mike is using a faulty translation that came out over a thousand years after Christ, or that Mike just relied on two idolatrous pagans to create the Bible. The former is easily more true. This is because Eve can't be the one to crush the serpent because she just gave into the serpent. People in original sin are children of wrath (Ephesians 2:3) and under the devil (1 John 3:8). Therefore, Eve can't defeat Satan. The only woman who can defeat Satan, then, has to be without any stain of sin, which is Mary.

@@cslewis1404 St. Irenaeus didn't actually call her "second Eve" from what I can see. He just compares her to Eve. I don't know how much we can take from that, other than it being an analogy. The relevant passage (Against Heresies Book 3 Ch 22) is very short and seems to just say that by God's design the fall came through the disobedience of a virgin (Eve) and our salvation came through the obedience of a different virgin (Mary). Although Eve being a virgin at the time of the fall is an assumption (i.e. one has to question why her punishment is "multiplying pains" in childbirth if she didn't have a previous experience of childbirth?) St. Athanasius did not call her the Queen of Heaven in any text I can find other than the Homily of the Papyrus of Turin, which seems to be falsely attributed to Athanasius, or at least none of the other early Greek or Latin fathers seems to have known about it or referenced it.
