If anyone says that Dhul qarnayn (the king who built the wall) is alexander the great, don't believe it. Alexander the great was a pagan, it's recorded in history that he used to worship greek gods. The reason why people refer to Dhul qarnayn as alexander the great is because: 1- he used to build big walls 2- he had a big kingdom 3- he had a big army 4- he had two feathers on his helmet which they say is the two horns. Dhul qarnayn also had these things (except for the feathers, and he did not have a big kingdom, he was the king of every place where civilization had reached, which is a bigger kingdom than alexander's) __ But as i said alexander was a pagan, and there were other emperors and kings at his time. About the wall, if we hear more explanations about it, it is really mind blown. What the technology that had been used to build that wall at that time? Because if you think and think again, how much material you need to complete the wall? It is a combination of iron and (i couldn't remember the other material) to form metal if I'm not mistaken. You need iron that will fit in between the two mountains until their tops and you have to melt them. Blow the fire until them melt. Then pour another solid material than have been melt into them. If you think deeply, what technology that had been used? To fill in between the mountains and to melt them. Its burning and hot ofcourse and then pour another burning material. Allah swt is describing the VIEW Thul Qarnayn had at this moment. It gives the reader a picture of the landscape Thul Qarnayn was seeing. It's like you when you see the sun setting in the sea when you're sitting at the shore. The sun is not actually setting in the sea, you just see it this way. This is why the verse says: "He SAW it setting in a river/lake of cloudy water.". Second: Pay attention to the part where Muhammad (peace be upon him) said that 999 out of 1000 people will enter hellfire. He wanted to state that gog and magog (who will enter hellfire) are a 1000 times more in count than we people on the earth. It does NOT mean that 999 out of a 1000 people of US will enter hellfire in shaa Allah. :)
