What role does OM play in water penetration? Isn’t OM beneficial on the 40 CEC soul?

How do you account for different root depths? An annual crop has to utilize less of the soil than a perennial crop. If I’m growing a crop within the first 4 inches of soil on one side of my property and another with deeper 12 in roots, how do I take that into account? If I need to add 150 lbs of nitrogen to an acre over a plants lifespan, what total soil volume does that actually represent?

Do you subtract the organic nitrogen value from your total CEC value to get what you can apply ?

Thanks very much. After I sent my question, I realized what is about. You are speaking about holding capacity and it makes sense. I am working in Europa and in China. In China, the main problem we have is the huge amount of fertilizer they use. I am trying to implement Neal Kinsey's system and explaining what is necessary to look in the soil. They have huge amounts of N in the soil due to the big amount they use. thx very much and I keep watching your videos

Thank you for you precise quick answer.. as you know we all are in modern variable rate applications of every (fertilizer, seeds), so my question was more related if you know for some tool that could do the job on a fly similar to VERIS MSP3 - so that we could cover more acres in less time But if lab test is only way of doing it, then so will be - trough entire soil profile (up to 30 inch), that is our subsoiling depth

If i'm using minimum tillage...no plough ...i need to put more nitrogen in soil becouse of the rest of the crop...is that rest of the crop going to restituite nitrogen later?...like this i'm growing my CEC? THANK YOU

Talking about environment and dollars yet he wants that farmer to apply N 4 times more to the soil. That means more gas, more money, and more time. This ain't a perfect world so just let the dude put down the 250 lb of N and partially catch the run off on artificial reservoirs.
