Great video Cat. I was playing around with Powerpoint (on the Mac) and I was able to do something similar to the draw effect on the circle. The effect is called "Wheel". I wasn't able to figure out how to start the "Wheel" effect on an angle though. It always starts at the top no matter if I rotate it.

Aloha, Cat. Thanks for the wonderful ideas and information! I've really been enjoying going through your videos. You're ~really~ good at juggling all the components of rich presentations while live on camera and that's not easy. A suggestion from an old audio guy, here: if you have room for it try moving your mic a bit off center - say about even with your shoulder - and angling it back towards your mouth. It sounds great but in this video it is placed right where in catches the plosives: the sharp air movements that are caused by T's and P's, laughs, etc. The foam windscreen helps a little but doesn't completely cut them out. Moving the mic off center gets it out of the path your breath and as long is its about the same distance from your mouth it should sound the same.

Thank you for this tip! I was rewatching the video to grab timestamps and the plosives were bothering me, so I will definitely try this out.

Hi Randy. You can save the files just like any other files on your computer (I have a folder called Live Streaming Assets). Then you add the files to your streaming software (OBS or Ecamm). I recommend not moving the files to another folder after you've added them to your streaming software since they will disappear from your scene.

Great video! I thought you would use a more advanced software to create the animation (like Davinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, etc.), but Keynote is a good idea and it's very simple to use. You're very creative to think about using Keynote to do that! 👍 Also, this week your volume was much better than the past two weeks. 🙌 As for Microsoft Teams, I use it daily and what you mentioned is right. You never know for sure what will be the ratio and the size, as Teams dynamically adjust everything based on number of attendees who turn on their camera. When you right-click on your camera and select "Spotlight", your video will be full screen for all participants. It's a way to force them to look at you. In that context, using a virtual camera with a timer would work, but if you don't use Spotlight in Teams, it will most probably not work as expected because you don't control anything. Also, participants can choose "Together Mode" in Teams. You don't control that feature, and it will remove everything except your face. If you use overlays with a virtual cam, they will disappear. Teams for Mac doesn't support virtual cameras, so every time you update the software, you have to remove the signature, so that virtual cameras will be available in Teams. It takes 30 seconds, but you have to do it after every software update. You can search for "OBS Studio to MS Teams Virtual CAM Fix" (from TheToroTek) on KZfaq if you want to learn how to do it. But my recommendation would be to not use the virtual camera with Teams, as the image quality is garbage. A better way to do it is to share your screen, and to have the best image quality, share your whole desktop. If you use OBS, right-click the main image and select Fullscreen Projector (Preview). In Teams, do a screen sharing and select the monitor where the OBS preview is displayed. That way, you will have the best image quality (for participants), and you are sure that what people will see is your video (full screen), instead of being in a small box (random size) among all other participants. A few notes: ---------------------- - If you only have one monitor, in OBS you can choose Windowed Projector (Preview) but the image quality will not be as good as if you select Fullscreen Projector (Preview). - Don't think that what you see in Teams is what other people see. If it looks good on your side, it could looks like crap for participants. If you want to test your setup, you can start a Teams meeting with yourself, and record the session. Then, watch the recording. You will have a better idea about the overall quality that participants will see. - In Microsoft Teams, there is also a "Pin" feature. It's different than "Spotlight". Spotlight will force everyone to look at you (full screen). Pin is when you want to see someone specifically, and it doesn't impact anyone else (it's just for you).

If you want to show a countdown timer while someone is speaking, you can show the countdown on your video (still hiding yourself), and spotlight both your video and the speaker. If I'm misunderstanding your question, please let me know.

Thank you for the video, it seems to work, unfortunately, if you don't have Canva Pro the video background will not be transparent. Plus the timer will only sow in OBS when you rein studio mode.

The effect to make the circle appear as if it is being painted is called "Wheel", and is is just the same than in keynote. It is listed under animations, you use the entrance annimation "wheel" to draw the line, and then an exit animation "wheel". The only thing you can not make is for it to start at an specific angle of the circle, it starts always at the top of it. ;-)

Hi Cat - regarding your problem with MS Teams, the solution is that you have to ask the meeting participants to right-click on your video feed (or click on the elipses "..." on your video feed) and they should click on "Fit to Frame". This means that the aspect ratio doesn't change and cut out parts of your feed such as overlays.

Can the timers move over to the breakout rooms? In our event, participants move to breakout rooms and that is where we want the timers to show. Also we want to be able to adjust that time - it appears how you show it that we could edit that in real time no problem?
@CatMulvihill
@CatMulvihill 2 жыл бұрын
The countdown timer is connected to a person's virtual camera, so the only way to have it in a breakout room using this approach is to have someone with a virtual camera in each breakout room running a timer. Instead I recommend using Zoom's breakout room timer that's built in and everyone can see exactly how much time is left. I show a demo in this video: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/aLZheLedxtPHnGg.html

I have not tried that option, and it might be difficult since you are more limited on the mobile Zoom. Instead I would consider having a countdown video on your phone that you bring into Zoom on your computer.
