Interesting fact: AJ Michalka, Catra's voice actress, was instructed by the executives to additionally record Catra breathing after she fell from the platform because she looked like she genuinely died in the version without it. So AJ recorded such devastating breaths that she made Catra seem like she was only seconds away from dying instead of actually looking dead.

Notice how She-Ra has the wings of Glimmer on her boots, Bow's heart on her chest and Catra's horned headpiece. Adora's attachments lead her to shape her own identity. Instead of letting go of them like Light Hope insisted, she embraced them and found her true power. No sword needed. She-Ra isn't a weapon anymore. P.S. And if you listen closely, you can hear Catra purring when she hugs Adora. That's the first time she purred since Episode 2 of Season 1 before her and Adora parted ways.

so fun fact! the "hello, adora" was a line in the trailer for s5 and a LOT of us lost our mind over it and the theories were flying everywhere.

Horde Prime cutting Catra's hair is a symbol of change to the viewers, but it is also probably the only thing he could have done that would make the chipping an even worse experience for Catra. Until she was given the title of Force Captain, Catra never had control of her life, and up until the end of season 4 she was gripping onto that 'control' because it was the only thing she had. Her hair was a huge part of this in season 4 because she cut a part of it off after Shadow Weaver's manipulation attempt, and from then on, when she was feeling out of control, she would smooth out her hair. Horde Prime took away the only thing that helped Catra feel a semblance of control and tarnished it in order to get what he wanted and achieve 'peace'.

Aimee's absolutely heartbreaking performance with the line "Catra? Catra, it's okay. I'm here".

" oh, Yes, your Catra" " you broke my heart " "but you have already hurt me" " You matter to me" After that episode we could say Catradora was cannon Also " your Catra, your Adora " Prime might be a genocidal but He is not a homophob 🤷🏻‍♀️

Adora 100% broke her legs jumping after Catra. Also, Catra was in fact dead by the time they made it back to the ship. Look at Bow and Glimmer's faces and how they looked at each other when Adora started trying to heal her. Very much a look of, "But she's dead. CAN She-Ra heal that?" Finally, this episode shines a new light on Hordak, actually. When he first arrived on Etheria, he was suddenly cut off from the hive mind too, just like Wrong Hordak was. Meaning Hordak was just as confused and afraid as he was. The difference is that Wrong Hordak fell in with people who would help and care for him, whereas Hordak was alone with nothing but Prime's indoctrination to fall back on. So he tried to BE like Prime to make himself feel safe.

The best episode, in my opinion. There are so many moments that either give me chills or draw tears. The updated She-Ra transformation, the absolute terror in Adora's face at chipped Catra, "You matter to me!," Catra's pleading look as she reaches out for help, their embrace at the end, it's such an assault on the heart.

What makes this episode so powerful is the fact that Adora and Catra's relationship has been building to this the entire show. Every moment, promise or action was a building block for an episode that was written and planned before the first season of the show even aired. The original screenplay for the episode wasn't exactly the same, but the story beats weren't changed a bit. Save the Cat is a result of meticulous planning and love that was put into the characters with some of the most powerful moments in the entire show.

It's crazy to think that even after Corridors and Save the Cat, the final season, somehow, only gets BETTER from here 😳

When talking about the new costume, people talk about how the wings on her boots represent Glimmer. Which is obvious and confirmed. But personally I like to think they don't just represent Glimmer alone, but also her mother, Angella. Who saved them all from annihilation by the faulty portal. And then there's her bracers. They look a lot more like those on Mara's She-Ra outfit. So I like to think those are a nod to her, and her sacrifice. Love, Strength, Willpower, Determination and Hope.

We're waited for this for so long. Adora finally saved her cat gf and bring She-ra back because of her. That's the kind of gf I want in my life. Grab tissues for tomorrow, my friends. It's gonna be heartbreaking "I'm going to take you home" "Promise?" "I promise" Kill's me everytime 😭 Also Happy Pride month everyone 🏳️‍🌈

Fully seriously, that shot in the thumbnail was my gay awakening. I loved Hercules as a kid, and Meg in particular integrated herself into my soul in much the same way that Catra ended up doing... so to see a shot so directly reminiscent of Herc carrying Meg's spirit out of the river of death, only with two women this time? Hit me like a freight train. Two years later, I'm out and finally starting to live the life I didn't think I could have. Save the Cat is everything to me, and I will never stop talking about it. "Adora...you should have stayed away. Why did you come back? We both know I don't matter... " One of the most painful lines in the entire series. From her earliest upbringing this is what Shadowweaver instilled in her. And all this time she had desperately tried to escape these emotions. Sure helping glimmer escape and "doing the one good thing in her life" was a turning point for her, but I think this line is the one where she is finally honest with herself and gets to the bottom of her issues. "You matter to me!". So good...

Realize how Adora's headpiece is the same as Catra's, her outfit has an heart like Bow's, her shoes have wings like Glimmer's? The outfit is made of things that symbolize the people she cares most about

"What's the plan?" - Montana This is Adora and the BFS we're talking about, they're winging it, always.

There's so much visual storytelling in this episode, but I want to draw specific attention to Adora and Catra's hair. Obviously Catra's haircut is a huge signifier of Horde Prime's control, but you can see Adora's hair start to come loose as the fight goes on and she grows more frightened and desperate. But the same thing happens to Catra, with completely opposite connotations! Her slicked-back hairdo is synonymous with the control Horde Prime has over her, and as she fights off the control you can see locks of her hair coming loose. This show is good

What a fun episode about Adora and her roommate being gal-pals.

*Raw magic tears open the universe, Adora standing in its centre, eyes aglow with power* Clone at the back: I can't see what's happening, are we boned? Clone at the front: Yeah, we're boned. And I know I've said this far too many times already but how in the name of rainbow space magic did this show not win a slew of voice acting awards? Pretty much every word between Catra and Adora here has layers of meaning attached to it and AJ's death rattles for Catra (which, yeah, they stop right about the time Adora starts glowing so that's a dead kitty she's carrying until healing magic saves the day) are just heart breaking.

YOU MISCALCULATED!!!! God this episode is so good from start to finish. Breakneck action and drama and love and friendship and despair and death, and absolution. The entire show was building up to this.

Adora just murdered every single prime clone she encountered after he killed Catra and you cannot convince me otherwise

when kenny said "she needs to be shocked" when discussing ways to free catra of prime's control... oh man LOL I was like "yeah, shocked to death in a few minutes most likely"

There is a half a minute footage that was cut from the episode due to time. It is Glimmer having a panic attack at Prime's corridors, due to a flashback from Prime. She runs and hyperventilates until Bow calls her and she calms down. I'll post the link to the video in the reply.

Adora has been trough a lot , but she has never looked as terrified as in this episode

My second favorite episode after "promise"!! Them two are emotional as hell. In the first one Catra decides to destroy any remnants of her friendship with Adora and in the second one they restore it. Adora and Catra reaching their hands to each other is one of my favorite moments in the entire show. Even though both of this episodes break your heart in different ways "Save the cat" ends with pleasure and satisfies viewers' feelings with Catra and Adora being back together. Been waiting for this reaction since you started the show!!

It's terrifying that catra died there. Like, that was her last life as a cat, Adora bring her back to life and that renewed her 7 life's back. But also because is such a painful way too, she probably broke all her bones on the fall. The desperation in Adora's eyes... This episode is a masterpiece

This episode is so good from start to finish, the fight scene is so cool and the bits of dialoge in between when Catra isn't controlled are so emotional.

There's a eliminated scenes where hord prime would her into catra's mind and mess with her, maiking fake scenerios to make her belive that Adora came for her, and stuff like that, he could also see catra's memories from her past and get information about adora. I love how Entrapta looks at a quiet clone and deduces it's Hordak, I love this scene, if it wasn't for Entrapta I don't think they would even bother trying to rescue him, probably thinking he was dead after what Prime did with him, idk. And this ending of the real Hordak finding the crystal and remembering Entrapta's name is sooooo beautiful, I love these two so much

Catra was actually supposed to be dead on the ship; She-Ra can resurrect people.

I have been waiting for this reaction since the day you announced that you were going to watch this show. Can't wait.

This episode is so RAW. All of the armor that Catra and Adora have put on, all those barriers theyve set up between each other across the show, it all melts away. Catra can no longer pretend to hate Adora, and Adora stops getting distracted by the greater good, driven by the need to protect Catra. Horde's reconditioning brings to mind religious violation and conversion therapy. "You broke my heart, but he has made it whole again" - This is an INCREDIBLY creepy line. Prime's chips is such a good final boss for the cast, because everyone has been so driven by individuality for the entire show, and now you have a common enemy - the erasure of the self. You've already seen Taking Control and Perils of Peekablue so you have an idea of how far this will go. My favourite part of the episode is Adora JUMPING OFF A CLIFF to save Catra. She shattered her goddamn legs!!! But wherever Catra goes, Adora goes - Me and you at the end of the world!!! Adora's new shera form looks SOOOOO good. God, it is leagues ahead of the previous design. I loved the introduction to Wrong Hordak, and how Bow and Entrapta sort of adopted him??? He's their son now. They kidnapped him though LMAO. Shout out to Entrapta in general this ep for being hilarious and having that sad moment with the crystal but also for her voice actor's insane excited noise immediately before she whistled for Darla. "Hahhahah GREAT!!!" - She sounded like she was going to die from happiness. Also I bet Prime was pretty embarrassed when the crappy little ship smashed through his entire mothership AND everybody got out xD I love Save the Cat as a sort of Saving Private Ryan style mission where the squad runs into Hell to save Catra, even after everything she did to them.

The first ones made She-ra a weapon of might to serve their conquest, a tool for tyrants Adora made She-ra a force of protection, to protect her friends and others, the bane of Tyrants Every time from now on that she transforms or taps into her powers, it’s always to protect others. It’s also the start of numerous headaches for Horde Prime.

It's a really small thing but... Catra, standing right by Horde Prime with his hand literally on her control chip *still* manages to fight back if only for a moment. As soon as that chip is damaged she starts coming through more and more to the point you could argue one of the reasons Prime fries her is this is a battle he's going to *lose* and we know what his view on anything showing him to be fallible is...

"He's Back!" "Yeah!" At the start of the show, did you think you'd ever be saying that for the guy who was being set up as the main villain? It's easy to miss in the rest of this absolutely AWESOME episode, but the fact we're not just cheering for She-Ra and Catra's return but the suggestion of Hordak's return as well? THAT sort of thing is one of the reasons I love this show so much.

It's very brief, but this episode we also see that Prime wears high heels so that he's slightly taller than all his clones

Also we all know about the engagement but !!!!! Congratulations!!!! I love you guys!! Your reactions and analysis bring me so much peace and you guys seem so genuine as individuals and in the relationship. So glad I found you guys when you reacted to the She-ra pilot!!

20:30 this is one brilliant moment, when Hordak still lost himself, but he's found a very important key for his future. He and Entrapta have very strong connection. And this helped change the future.

Dude it was from this episode onward that I was an emotional wreck the first time I watched Season 5. It was like 3 in the morning of the premiere and I was binging the hell out of this season because I literally was vibrating I was so excited and thus could not sleep. And this episode destroyed me. I had been waiting so long for this moment, and the way the entire throne room sequence was done? Masterful. Favorite episode. Easy. I know we praise AJ a lot on this show but Aimee also killed it this episode. They both were phenomenal. People gave the crew such a hard time for She-Ra’s first design, so I can only imagine how hard it was for them to keep quiet about the new and definitely improved design. She-Ra looks so good now, holy crap. Like, I hate that she was controlled but the way Catra’s hair looked…. Loved it.
