Mate, nice project. Not something I would do but interesting to see what other woodworkers come up with for their project builds. The jig, for me, is the amazing part. The time and effort that goes into building jigs is of another order. Well done and be safe out there.✌

Maybe a flat tooth rip blade would make a smoother surface. Or maybe those longitudinal grooves are from the corner of the saw teeth because the turned piece isn't centered perfectly?

I think the flat tooth blade is the answer but I don’t have one and I’m not planning on getting one just for this since sanding worked well enough and didn’t mess up the consistency.

What type & size of bearing did you use?

They were a pair of sealed ball bearings, 1/2” inner diameter, and I don’t remember the outer. Similar to a skateboard bearing. It didn’t really matter as long as the inner diameter matched my threaded rod.

Izzy Swann made a jig similar to this 16 years ago however his was not to make cylinders like you have made! This is a Pretty neat solution to turning the cylinders I feel this is a more precise way than using a lathe. 😁🛫
