"Solastalgia is a term coined by Australian philosopher Glenn Albrecht in 2003. It describes a form of emotional or existential distress that is experienced by individuals when they witness the negative environmental changes in their home or familiar surroundings. Unlike traditional forms of nostalgia, which involve a longing for a specific time or place from the past, solastalgia is about the distress caused by the degradation of one's environment in the present. Solastalgia is often associated with the impact of environmental changes, such as deforestation, climate change, or industrial development, on a person's sense of place and well-being. It can manifest as a feeling of powerlessness, grief, and a sense of loss as the landscape or environment that once provided comfort and familiarity is altered or destroyed. It's closely linked to the broader field of ecopsychology, which explores the relationship between human psychology and the natural environment. In essence, solastalgia highlights the psychological and emotional toll that environmental degradation and change can have on individuals, especially when these changes are occurring in the places they call home. It serves as a reminder of the intricate connection between the environment and human well-being."

@do_yohomework I mean your not wrong. It's good in its own right. I'm guess not really a grind core guy, more progressive and technical death and deathcore. There newer stuff is more polished and Travis Ryan's vocals are getting better. Easy to understand the lyrics considering how brutal his guttural and screeches are. Song structures are better as well.

Bands like Cattle Decapitation play a MASSIVE part in inspiring me to pursue this work as well as to push through all the despair and anger which essentially boil down to: solastalgia. Thank you for working to combat this. Cattle Decapitation has been a presence in my life for the last 20+ years, ( I'm 50 now) every album gets hard to listen to from a lyrical standpoint. I do everything I can on a personal level, and push in my workspace to contribute (with varying degrees of success. My girls are 15/12 and will inherit this space. The youngest is a big Cattle fan, and is sadly (?) aware of where we are.

Enjoy with lyrics! Lyrics: Feast your eyes on our only future Neglected, faded and falling apart Watching the world you know disintegrate Catch fire, situation already dire Consequences now fulfilled from two centuries past Worlds behind In the rearview reflects a clear view of tomorrow Veiled, draped in sorrow Jailed, unshaped and hollow Old world has vanished Expired To our minds we are banished Inside Forever This is our world now Trapped in the self with no way out What the fuck did we do? What the fuck did we think we could prove? Life is torture Life is torture Life is torture The slowest suffering We had our hopes We fashioned our ropes From which we now swing in the breeze They didn't work We went berserk Trying in vain just to be put at ease The winds of solastalgia Blowing the embers of past transgressions Burning our faces Leaving a charred world Devoid of hope The greatest depression And our dishonorable discharge Forever recorded In our DNA we left behind For we discarded That which reminds Nigh The end of hope The solastalgia Evil nostalgia of better times The end of hope Lament together Despair forever, lose our minds The end of hope The solastalgia Evil nostalgia of better times The end of hope Lament together Despair forever, lose our minds

Cattle Decap has been a core band in my musical travels ever since discovering metal over 20 years ago. I was introduced with 'Regret and The Grave' and was enamoured by their emotion and power in their music. Through Harvest Floor, Monolith, Anthropocene Extinction, Death Atlas and now Terrasite, along with many live shows, I always loved seeing their amazing development and effort they put into their music. Every single time I thought they made the perfect verse, song, album, they kill it with the next. I hope we get to enjoy Cattle Decap for many years to come, as it is one of the few bright spots in an ever spiraling world.

The last part is so touching and emotional, it makes me cry everytime I'm listening Travis sings with his "clean voice". He has this particular way to make us feel this emotion within ourselves. I just see how all the band (guitarists, bassist, drummer and Travis) just are joined to make this amazing touching sounds into the gutural way with a beautiful end. It's just incredible! And it's not only this song, there's a lot of songs of them like this one. Great band! It's simple, I just love them!

Cattle Decap is generally considered death metal but I feel these guys have evolved into their own genre. Any other bands and particularly other vocalists that sound like this are simply riding the coattails of these guys. This band created a sound that will certainly be influential for a long time. Cattle Decap are one of the most innovative bands to come out in a very long time.

I really would like to thank my cousin for putting me on with this Band. He showed me Death Atlas Album, Death Atlas being one of the first songs. At first I thought it wasn’t gonna stick with me cause I’m so used to like Alternative Rock, Heavy Metal 🤘🏼, R&B, (Breaking Benjamin, Metallica, Drake, John Legend) The build up and then the Hit of the Song Mid way through it was just an instant classic and hit. I checked out another few songs like Time’s Cruel Curtain, The Geocide, those just made me more hooked. When Terrasite Album released the first song was Scourge of the Offspring I honestly don’t know how many times we listened to it but lol it was around 12pm at night blasting it on the JBL SPEAKER. Man I tell you the bass, the guitar solo, I’d say the last min and thirty of the song was just brutal and so intense. Then the album released and my absolute top 3 favorite songs were Solastagia- 💥💥💥 A Photic Doom - 🔥 Scourge of the Offspring- 🔥💥 Solastagia is a song that is just incredible and intense. It has that powerful melody and just from start to finish it brings the meaning of Holy Shit. Loved the bass part like around 1:45 that part is just 😳😳😳 and then 2:36 is 🔥🔥😭😭 just elegant and brutal at the same time and it builds up to 3:55 💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥THE END OF HOPE, LAMENT TOGETHER, DESPAIR FOREVER, LOSE OUR MINDS! Thanks Again brother @sinisterspawn this really helps with my mental state and brings me to just in my own world and makes me feel intense. Sounds pretty corny but this type of music helps people that’s gone through some rough shit and I’d tell you it just connects.

62 years old and still love this music. This is one band that continues to impress and keep the music type interesting and cutting edge. So good live. Saw them in PDX and would have loved a longer set.... !

I’ve been a metal head most of my 42 years but avoided the more extreme end (for the most part) for a good chunk of that time. I’ve only been listening to extreme stuff for like 4 years. These guys definitely helped guide me into this world and I love them for it.

*To see how far Cattle has come it's truly impressive! You talk about being experimental in all the right departments, incorporating new styles, to your song writing all while sticking to your roots and turning them into something bigger. This is how you do it! Sometimes you gotta take the right risks and give something new a try, Cattle opened a new door by switching things up, and went on to create some beautiful masterpieces of modern metal!*
