Sleep Ranch

Sleep Ranch

2 жыл бұрын

My name is Carson Sleep, I’m 23 years old and am a 6th generation rancher on the Sleep Ranch.
Our ranch is located in the Northern Black Hills on the South Dakota/ Wyoming border where my family settled and started ranching in 1883.
I work alongside my parents, Jeff and Jodi, our ranch hand, Jaques, and my wife, Damaris who also works as a nurse in town. We have friends and family who come along very frequently as well!
We run a cow/calf operation where we summer our cattle on the Black Hills National Forest and winter them in the foothills of the Black Hills. We also have a backgrounding feedlot, and grow alfalfa and grass hay.
To God be the Glory

Greetings from Wisconsin! Your comment while looking for nuggets in the creek reminded me that about 40 years ago we spent some time between the Badlands and Custer. At one of the tourist traps I was looking for gifts for family and I found hats that I blew my cheapo budget on but they were too good to miss for my beloved farmer-uncles back home. The hats were all imprinted "I won a couple million in the Lottery. We're gonna keep farming until I spend it all!" It was worth every penny to see the grins on those wonderful faces, especially when one uncle laughed, choked and swallowed a bit of his 'working' Copenhagen. I told him loved him to death but if he went down it was gonna cost him 2 sides of processed beef and the gorgeous old John Deere still on steel wheels for to even consider doing CPR on him. That's when he swallowed the rest of it. You guys are just too cool, every one of you. Stay safe.

Hey Carson, Looks like everything is going good for you I was really worried your dad was going to get bit by that barbwire crossing the Creek,glad he didn't. It's very pretty up there, it didn't look like the fences were to bad which is surprising with elk around, the deer were hard on my fences this past winter did a lot of fencing this spring.
@sleepranch

Great video as always. Great scenery Just a observation with poncho It looks to me that some one has hit him in the face at one time. That is why maybe he is a little head shy. Slow and easy moves around his head mostly in time get him out of this but head shy can be a slow process.

@@sleepranch I love the way the older cows take the way and lead the rest. How long does it take to get the younger ones to learn? Nice bunch of calfs. Jac does a nice job getting the wire off. Thank God it was not real bad. She walk it out. Jac turning out to be quite the rancher. An age of a horse doesn't mean anything . 28 years is just the starting into his prime. My dads horse, work horse cross, live well in to his 50s. He was toothless in the end. Still big and strong and only ridden by the grandchildren. He was the babysitter. We put Prince in the pen and throw the 3 kids up on his back. And walk away while we did chores. I thought your dad was going to come off at one point and Jac met have to get off to push. But all was well. Great seeing the green fields and wildlife. Have a good day and God Bless your whole family and Jac. Thank you.

Having grown up on a farm, I thought this would be interesting but the stupidest opening clip I have ever seen changed my mind about subscribing, to say nothing of watching. I learned about 5 years old to respect barbed wire, it is not a huggable material, especially on something that is moving and over rough terrain. Good God, 23 years old yet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
