I don't know what europe and russia say but wolves or dogs are no much for a bear { and especially a grizzly } one to one or even if the bear is out numbered : It has to be so fucking many of them to exhaust the bear for example a big dog or a wolf pack to make it :

I also think that when people say a dog breed hunts bear....they really mean the dog hunts bear with HUMANS. The dog has the bravery to hunt the bear and engage it in some fashion to distract it while the human kills the bear. No dog by itself would survive an attack from ANY adult grizzly.

My dog was a Husky Lab mix and bread with Timber. They had nine spectacular dogs. Two sets of alpha twins. Two HUGE Labs who both had 2 blue eyes. Two fully wolf marked twins, each with one blue eye each and massive. The remaining 5 where all females with husky traits and size. I kept the one female with two blue eyes and the most wolf like traits. Her name was timber and she was born knowing. She was never trained to protect, she just did. When I took her fishing she instinctively knew to eat the head and skin the rest, leaving the rest for bait. When people came in my house she would stare them down and sit by my feet. She was the greatest dog I ever owned. Born to be my submissive and love her family more then herself. My children could poke and prode at her and she never showed any agression. Damn I miss her.

An Alpha Male Grey-Wolf,if required to Defend it's Kill or Defend it's Territory Would Murder the ovcharka in a fair fight . ovcharkas are Physically capable but they don't as much Fighting Experience as Grey-Wolves in the Wild and they are fast but That pace can easily be Matched up by a Grey Wolf+They don't have the stamina to Sustain that Pace in a high intensity fight unlike the wolf . The Ovcharka would put up a Great fight but Eventually,the Intelligent wolf will find and take it's Opening and Kill the Ovcharka .

Kangals and Presa Canarios are a close second but Ovcharka's I have seen beat kangals more than 5 times and it was a different Kangal every time and 3 diff Ovcharka's. But Kangals are bad as fuck. It's a simple equasion that the Ovcharka's use the let the kangal bite their chests and necks which are thick fur which doesn't amount to a whole lot then it uses it's weight to push down the kangal about half way and then just completely destroy's the kangals snout, head, and legs. They are fucking MONSTERS!

These wolves are not like wolves from most of the world, so most people don't know much about them. European wolves are extremely small in comparison. My Alaskan Malamutes are 140 lbs.....but they aren't killers.

I would also love to say that you must keep in mind that a lot of people are very biased when they speak of the dogs that they think so highly of such as myself I have an American Bulldog a half Johnson half Scott was very impressive and when he was a puppy 70 pounds he took apart a 40 pound Pitbull and Lord knows there's at least a half of a boxer and the. I just have to say this: That is one of the weakest arguments I have ever heard. Bite force is "irrelevant" just "because"? How could any reasonable person determine THAT? Bite force is a huge determining factor in a confrontation between animals that BITE! Dominate mental traits are another huge determination. Once again people...... This dog was not bred to fight a North American Grey Wolf. It was bred to protect and ward off predators, yes, with humans around that have weapons. This dog would not survive most one on one attacks with a North American Grey Wolf. The fang size, the bite force, the killer instinct, stamina of the Grey Wolf would be extremely difficult to match. The wolf's jaw strength is powerful enough to snap bones in half and it's teeth are designed to shred flesh.....slashing wounds on its prey.

No dog will fight a wolf straight on. Look at videos when dogs are confronted they cower, they are not stupid and know where they stand. The instinct, and the fact they fight to live every day, are just a few factors that makes no domestic dog a proper match for a adult timberwolf
