My dad was a huge Sabbath fan. When i was around 20 me and my friends saw them live at a festival, it was so damn loud but I picked up the phone , called my dad and held up the phone and I knew he wouldnt hear me talking in that crowd but before hanging up all I heard him yelling back thru the phone was just ”I love you, I love you (my name)”. Funny thing is yesterday marked 3 years since he passed, and the memory of that phonecall and concert is one of the best ones I have of him. Stay safe out there everyone and all the love ✌🏼❤️

Oh yeah I need someone to show me the things in life that I can't find I can't see the things that make true happiness, I must be blind Make a joke and I will sigh and you will laugh and I will cry Happiness I cannot feel and love to me is so unreal And so as you hear these words telling you now of my state I tell you to enjoy life I wish I could but it's too late” Source: LyricFind Songwriters: Michael Butler / Ozzy Osbourne / Tony Iommi / William Ward

The guitarist Tony Iommi actually lost the tips of his fingers in an accident at a metal factory, he made himself some prosthetic fingertips (like a thimble) to help he play with his disability. He still shreds doe 😎

@@Comrade.Question Yep. He also used a very light-weight string set, and dropped the tuning down to C or D, so there would be less pressure and tension on his fingertips, but this in turn had a significant effect on the overall guitar tone, creating what was at the time a very unique sound.

"Every cool riff has already been written by Black Sabbath. Anything everyone else does is just basically ripping it off. Either you're playing it slightly different or fast or slow, but... they did everything already." That's what Rob Zombie said in an interview with Sam Dunn for the 2005 rockumentary 'Metal: A Headbanger's Journey'. Meaw article went on to say: “Sure, Zombie employed some poetic flair to get his point across but the crux of his message essentially shows how widely influential Black Sabbath has been (and still is) in the landscape of metal music. In fact, if one were to trace the history of metal music and try to pinpoint a single act which served as a tipping point where rock branched off into the strange and dark era of metal, Black Sabbath would be as close as it gets. Of course, no art is born in a void and transitioning styles and genres are more shades of grey than black and white, but you'll hardly find anyone in the music industry who would think twice before endorsing Sabbath as the godfathers of metal.” -Meaw (I didn’t write this but I do remember Rob Zombie saying this about Black Sabbath & I only copy & pasted the rest of this Meaw article where they quoted Zombie saying this in an interview just in case anyone else found it interesting too)

I laughed my ass off at this video. I was there in 1972, in Miami, when Sabbath was live. I was 12 yrs old and never been to a live concert. There was an old wizard there, I'll call Gandalf, that had a "paper bag of wonders". Out of that bag he brought small sticks that those there lit with fire on one end and inhaled on the other. There was much smoke and all there coughed and laughed. I left there with a feeling I'd experienced something fantastic and that I'd never forget.

On the day he was to leave his job as a welder to pursue music full-time, guitarist Tony Iommi was called upon to use an industrial press used for cutting metal and - in a turn of events that makes it seem like they were living in a horror movie already - got the tips of two fingers sliced off. He subsequently re-learned how to play, using plastic caps over his missing finger-ends to fret the guitar strings - in doing so, and having to detune his guitar to relieve the string pressure, he accidentally created the modern sound of heavy metal guitar. It certainly was heavy metal. It nearly had his hand off.

As a former student at Marshall University in the early eighties, I was glad this song was included in the movie "We Are Marshall" with Mathew McConaughey (great movie by the way). The anniversary of the plane crash that took the lives of the football team, coaches, prominent boosters, and air crew is this month (Nov). Prayers for those who perished, their families, and loved ones. My parents, older brother, and myself all went to Marshall University...as does my daughter now. One of my earliest memories that I can remember is of my parents crying as the news of the crash came on the TV screen. A VERY sad time in our lives. Small school, small town, and a small state. It hurt...still does. I was a student there when they had their first winning season since the tragedy happened. I would ask that people might give a moment of reverence this month for those that perished, their families, and loved ones. Anyway, I'm diggin the “drug rug” you got on...I got a couple of em myself. Made by hand in Nepal out of “Yeti” hide or somethin (so the tag says). Great for this time of year...real thick and damn near indestructible. Gotta drive a truck over em a few times to break em in lol. My appreciation to those that have made it this far reading...I'll keep a good thought for ya.

It was indeed written by the bass player; but his name is Geezer Butler. Bill Ward is the drummer. You're right though it was last minute. Ozzy out there still Rocking 50 Years later. When you review those 70’s and 80’s bands out there check to see how many are still playing. Give some of them old timers props. AC/DC always a good one. Rocking til they literally started dropping. Saw them in 1984 multiple times after and agin around 2016 and Angus as much energy at 60 as 16! Great work on the reviews. Don’t get stale like some of the others keep evolving don’t be content ever.

I would suggest Black Sabbaths "Changes" THEN you have to listen to Charles Bradley's epic cover of it and totally made it his own, right before passing away. He spent most of his career as a James Brown tribute act, struggling to look after himself and his mama. You need to listen to Changes by Charles Bradley at least once in your life!!

"I need more Black Sabbath" Lmao... Well, my friend, I will personally vouch for ANY song from their 1st album, Black Sabbath (1970) thru their 11th album Born Again (1983). Print out all the song names, close your eyes and throw a damn dart. You can't go wrong! Heavy blues influence on the early stuff. Pure golden eargasms.

Lived in squatter houses when I was young with a bunch of people older than me.. This would blast throughout the hallways in our house almost daily as well.. I know I felt so at awe hearing some of this music then when I was 14/15/16 years old.. YEAH! And it is still gripping! Had not heared some of these songs for years some maybe couple decades even! So I am gratefull you've got these reaction channels going on now a days where you and the people in the comment-sections remind me of these greats! I must have heard this 100 times and really never knew the title hehe.. Like so many other songs, some I can sing word for word but don't even know the band name- let alone the song. That's what happens when you're drunk and stoned all day and older people put on their music and you just sit there zoned out till you crash hahah

They are the originators of "Heavy Metal" without them no Metallica, Pantera, Guns and Roses and many others. Tommy Iommi the guitar player cut the tips off his fingers just before they made their first album and had to tune the guitar down (loosen the strings) because his fingers were tender, thus the sound of the heavy metal guitar was born, and Ozzy's vocals, legends.
