A London Borough has been terrorised by string of break-ins and car jackings. The police have caught them on camera, but need more proof before they can make an arrest....

I can't believe that the bf at the end didn't get charged with assault on that driver. The woman, too, should have been charged with reckless endangerment and billed for the damages to the car. I feel bad she got hit, but that's what you get for running into traffic like an idiot. The driver should have parked the car and waited though, but I might have let too, if that guy was throwing punches at me. Fear for my safety. Jesus. . I don't understand UK law where that's concerned.

Meru, I'm in the U.S., and I saw the same video as you did. I think the British police showed restraint, compared with here. I've had contact with UK cops and airport security (whatever it's called) for 20+ years, and it's invariably friendly, positive, and most times funny. What it comes down to crappy airport locales, is "Hey, Babe, I recoginize you" Compared to the US troops, the UK types have it all over them for pure friendliness.

If you wanna keep what you stole you don't take pic/videos and then flash yourself all over town. I assume you mean the US, but even here there is no right to not be observed by others when you are in a public place. I applaud cameras for helping in prevent wrongful convictions, people lying and saying the victim punched them first, etc.

A shorter term, and a focus on rehabilitation is much more successful than the US prison system which is a money making business and the recidivism rates are atrocious. Though I do think the UK terms should be longer.

36 mins odd: "8 men were jailed for a total of 32 years" - after 15 robberies and theft of property totaling 500,000 pounds (that the police know about, so x by 2 probably)... meaning that they will actually serve less than 2 years each (estimated)... BFD some deterrent.
