The Body Control Module (BCM) monitors and controls electronics located in the body of the vehicle. This includes windows, mirrors, immobilizer system, central locking, lights, horn, wipers, and more.
Possible Causes of a U0140 Code:
Battery or Alternator issues
Blown Fuse
BCM Ground Wire
Damaged Wiring Harness
Damaged BCM Module (Check for Brunt Smell)

Thanks for your great description of the dtc I got 2014 my e350 when turn to de left the light on the dash come on and the a/c goes off after straight the wheels every thing is normal

Hello , from a couple of days i have the error mesage on my dashboard (children safety anomaly revision necesary) this errors comes and goes but now is constant so i had the posibility to hook it to my forscan and im getting the codes u0140 and u0155, what could be the problem? I already ordered a new battery im hopping its that , but can the problem come from the cluster maybe a bad conection or a desoldered pin? I fargot to mention that when the errors ocure i do not have indicators on my cluster dasboard only the mesage mention above.

Mine 07 2500hd 6L was running in the driveway, i put the windows down and some music on and shut the car off and popped the hood. My brother lifted the hood and noticed my negative wire was barely holding on the battery, he popped it off for 5 seconds and put it right back on. No _ under PRNDL so no crank no start.. i have that same code and my bcm was taken apart and looks okay.

Have a 2014 impala ltz limited and I have this code but no ses lights are even on. What's more fishy is that I haven't noticed anything wrong with the bcm everything works. .

So I've cut a wire right and it says the bcm has lost communication, but I'm sure I cut the ambient lighting wire, if I join the two wires together will the problem fix ?

Great video ,I have a 2016 jeep grand Cherokee Limited, and my lights will not turn off, i’ve replaced the headlight control switch knob, and still same problem. The only time the lights turn off is when the car is off I cannot access. my fog lamps or turn the lights off. They just stay on.. do you think there’s a problem with my body control module?

It is hard to say, but when a BCM goes bad usually there are more issues, so while it is possible, I would lean more towards a wiring issue or possibly an option in the vehicle settings.

I have a 2010 toyota corolla le. I'm having trouble locating where the BCM actually is. I know it's under the dash near the steering column. But I'm not 100% sure what it looks like. I want to remove one from a junk car and have the dealership flash it.

Look on eBay for a 2010 Toyota Corolla body control module. They usually have used options with images that show what it looks like.
