Rock Collecting, has got me out hiking, traveling, after a decade long illness and brings me a lot of joy. I can't stress enough how lovely the Smart Mine is.....Endless fun!

Hi,,,,,Some of the amazonite has gold lines reflecting within it. Just like sunstone feldspar, at the correct angle in the sunlight..We were looking for you after checking for zircon at the end of the day.We had that titanite pile for you but you and Jeff were gone.Tom was going to ask for a trade ,,,looking for blue apatite...The roadcut Tom mentioned to you is scapolite , some crystals make pigeon feather refection with a star,, cateye effect... light pink sort of . It was Really nice meeting you and jeff.

I finished posting them on Rachelles channel.We dug 2 cupfulls of beryl.and lots of amazonite,,, moonstone,perserlite?jeff subscribe to my channel .

This site really offers so much in term of collecting. I found that the amazonite is even harder to get-out than the beryl at the beryl pit nearby. I've seen the amazonite within the quartz in crystal shapes the size of a fist but they would require saws to get-out properly intact....if you were lucky;) This site has some incredible large biotite mica for those who are interested. Thanks Mick!

+Matthew Courville hi We agree .Fun spot , We were there yesterday and met two rock hounds . They had a microblaster .We watched and after two different blasts .. it finally worked.,,,,,,, Hard rock that amazonite.. .We watched some nice blue flying 30 feet in the air into the forest,,. They gave us 4 very big chunks of amazonite,.nice,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, .It maybe fractured again and may yeild some nice blue stones,,they only blasted one small area ..We left after they gave us some not sure what they left..They gave us some nice black quartz chunks and we found a few black quartz hex crystal around .fun day.

Yay! I visited a hole before you posted a video on it! I May have actually been the next guy in line because there was a tremendous exposure of the stuff. I must have gotten 50 pounds of marginal to awesome material from the trench. I even got a piece with a magnatite octahedron in it.
@Caver4619 жыл бұрын
+TheIdeanator I'd love to see a picture of the octahedron if you could share a picture.
@TheIdeanator9 жыл бұрын
All of these came from the amazonite trench. ifuckingloveminerals.tumblr.com/private/129127739356/tumblr_nupcz1q41Y1sh1wnz As I was walking around I noticed other spots that looked like there are other lumps of amazonite. Mr. Miller mentioned that someone had taken saws up there though I saw no evidence though I did see microblaster holes. The amazonite there is absolutely as blue as stuff from Colorado if not more.

+TheIdeanator Hi nice find ,,When we first seen the amazonite site .The amazonite was almost impossible to dig or smash out even with a heavy ax and there were chucks lying on the ground.later we went and checked the site and we were able to extract some from the rock. We did find a red plastic cylinder about the size of a short 12 gauge shell on the road before the gravel work was done......... There where saws up there cutting out most of the large titanite from the rock . and a large drill. there is amazonite just before the site .Its as hard as a rock,,,,, L ...and small quarts points,,,Maybe there are more larger quarts around Somewhere while we are all looking around .. When you hit that amazonite and quarts with a chisel the whole area rings ,

cover the lens so it is black, then show the crystal. cam should then autofocus correctly, you need to fill the screen for longer than 1 second with your hand or anything. then the camera will adjust to the crystal being that close. should be good for what your doing. let me know if that helps with the close focus, if not get a diopter, like a screw on magnifying glass basically. love the vids, i see your frustration with close focus. you got great talks and crystal showings, got me into it. i am in fredericton. even a bifocal lens taped to the front of your camera would be cool. like a split view, for crystal inspection.

To rick gordon, from Montreal you drive to Lac St-Jean in a small village called St-Ludger de Milot. From there there is a large forest road leading to Passes Dangereuses power dam. Yo drive to kilometre 32 and ask anybody in the 50 chalets there (they all have electricity) and they should lead you there at 3 kilometres from the chalets. Even though everybody can go there, beware there is a closed mine right beside that is due to reopen soon. Have a nice harvest...

I love amazonite crystal, would be cool to go here! However, wondering if the lead in the crystal is potentially hazardous if exposed to or touched for too long??
@mariamar90227 жыл бұрын
you said the colour of crystal is from lead! Thanks!!
@Caver4617 жыл бұрын
I don't think so, it bound up in the crystal lattice, not free to transfer onto you or your skin.

Nice amazonite. I wonder why this place is not commercially mined. Would be worth it with so much good quality amazonite...
@Caver4619 жыл бұрын
+korpakukac not sure how much sits beneath the quartz, but there are several such exposures in the area. Might not be enough to set up a mine here.

Go see my Facebook and you'll see a field of amazonite, you can pick them up cause they cover the ground everywhere. The site is the size of a football field and is in a remote part of Québec but you can reach it with a good 4X4 truck. I drove a crystal collector there last month and she was in heaven and will come back...

There are a fair number of places in Northern Ontario where you can find this stuff. Feldspar mines are good places.

+black Pines Prospecting 11 kilometers west from Eganville on highway 512 you will see 3 mailboxes on your left side across from a truck repair place. One of the mail boxes is orange with the word miller faintly written on it. Just leave $10 in the mailbox for each person going to the site and you're good to go.
