Electric motors are very simple and very reliable. There are more moving parts in one piston engine then all those electric motors combined. I am not sure, but I suspect a single propeller failure would still allow vertical landing. If the wing panels don't open, it can land on a conventional runway.

My thoughts exactly, all those moving surfaces and covers, the electric propellers might be reliable, but a jam to one of those "transforming" surfaces while in flight would be the end of it. Nice looking and interesting, but another pass.

@@stratometal Do you mean it if jams in some halfway position where it doesn't work either for vertical or normal landing? Is it a mechanism more complicated than flaps?

@@luciustarquiniuspriscus1408 It is more complicated than flaps yes. The motion for flaps is far less complicated, less points of failure, a wing can operate without the flaps if they get torn, the covers are part of the wing itself, loose one and its like putting a hole in the wing. A big one.

Looks cool to see this happening here. Looks like a gyroplane (safe and versatile) and a canard (fast and sleek) combined while adding electric capabilities. Is the front wing a canard? Looking at your videos it looks like you have the elevators on both the canard and tail? Are the wings swept forward and back to help with CG? 2500kg max load with 14 lifting fans minus advertised 20% for failure makes those lifting fans produce ~491lbs thrust each. That feels impressive. Can the fans go in reverse? I'm thinking the ones by the winglets if a serious wind gust occurs during take-off/landing to help keep things level? I would think opening up the fan doors to the rear would add a lot of complications (ailerons, flaps, extra moving components, etc...). I wonder what led to the 2 door system instead of just one sliding forward? 800km distance is pretty far with batteries (I know...hybrid), but having the range of going from the Kawartha's to Toronto/Ottawa would be sweet. Are there any plans for de-icing? By doing the hybrid system you get the fail safe of the engine failing. The craft can glide as well as run off batteries for an extended distance safe landing. I wonder what engine and generator will be used that is strong enough to fly 2500kg. This is the newest information I can find, hope you keep putting out updates on your progress.

Now that the FAA has issued final airworthiness criteria for eVTOL, are you going to ramp up the speed of designing and producing the prototype of the new x7

Btw, Im a new investor in Horizon. I have done a lot of research and can see through all of the smoke and mirrors in the industry, and have come to understand that your hybrid model has a far higher chance of success than other companies eVTOLs given current battery technology. My biggest concern is whether you all have been overambitious with the x7, as the passenger capacity and load tolerance necessary for a 7 passenger plane requires immense battery capability which im not fully convinced is possible. Id love to be proven wrong, but im worried that despite my extensive research, I have still dipped my toes into a company selling a dream rather than a reality.
