Loved your discussion of the 'wet/dry' spectrum and the effect of the output impedance selector on the sound decay - thank you! This is an unsung hero in the headphone amplifier world. I absolutely love the HA-1A MK2! The look and sound are fantastic. The stock tubes are great, but I did upgrade the tubes inside to optimize the sound even more. But this sounds great across the frequency spectrum. It has TONS of power! Seriously, this thing packs a lot of power. I find myself enjoying most of my headphone listening from either my HA-1A MK2 or my Feliks Audio Espressivo Mk II. Both are fantastic amps! Great job - keep it up!

I saw this in person recently and really liked it's design, particularly the glossy cognac wood finish on the sides and the silver aluminium on the front and back.

Been looking at the HA-1AMK2 and it's a case of "come and go" from the market. Cayin probably has less margin on it than the HA-6A and the other speaker tube amps it produces. I go the feeling tube sound is not for me, but damn I'm still waiting to find a better-looking amp than this one. Also, no problem on the audio side, as far as I know, I also prefer a more quiet-sounding review (Andrew does this a lot), but I think you need a camera or light upgrade, there are some hues of red and blue that appear occasionally. Still, these are baby steps and so far I enjoy the content.

Thanks for the review. Does it anyone know if the HA-1A would be a better amp pairing with the HD800s, compared to the iHA-6?

I'm thinking but I have a bunch of amps that are SET and only HE6SEV2 is only one I need a tube amp or figure how to pre out my 300b and inject it into a ha6 ss amp. 2nd cheaper option. I like the look but I'm not into anything but low impedance headphones between 8 through 32 ohns.

Thanks for the review. I am considering this amp for my HD800S and HD660S. But I also have DCA Aeon 2 Noire closed. Any idea if this amp could drive these cans nicely? They seem to be very low impedance.

Your unit does not have RoHs and CE certifications at the back, some others I've seen they do, plus there are some QC issues reported. Any views on this?

"Chassis" is pronounced as "SHA-see." The "ch" is pronounced like "sh," and the final "s" is silent.

I had this amp for a few months, and I would say that it's pretty good for planars, but with sensitive dynamics (eg Focal Clear), the noise floor is too high. It sounded like transformer hum. It gets worse at the higher impedance settings.
