I wish I had kept my 91 Accord back in 2014 it was reliable, but there were also issues with it that could have been fix. Back then I was just dumb for scraping it when I could've replace all the worn out parts.

I LOVE these cars. I picked up a '91 auto a couple years back and basically rebuilt the whole thing. It wasn't perfect when I was done, but the '92 5-speed I'm finishing now is going to be even better. The '91 had 399k miles on it when I sold it earlier this month, and my 5-speed has over 420k! It's bones are so good, I think I'm going to paint it after I get it registered and inspected in the next couple weeks. I think the CB7s were the last car Soichiro signed off on before he passed, R.I.P.

I had a 92 CB7 from 2015 to 12/20. I never changed the timing belt. I knew it needed to be done but I didn't have the money to pay a mechanic or a place where I can do it myself. Once I finally found such a place, I got sidetracked with other car issues during which time the timing belt blew out, and took my engine with it. I didn't feel that it was worth paying to rebuild the engine on a car that had a bunch of rust and who's AC refrigerant couldn't be replaced. The AC cooling wasn't working as it was. I bought that car for $400 as a backup to my Subaru. It got me though a lot of repairs with the Subaru and and the Subaru in turn allowed me to fix my CB7. I came to appreciate how easy it was to work on the Honda. RIP my CB7.

I love cb7s. It was my first car at 132k miles which was a past down from my bro and I never did any maintenance drove it until timing belt broke at 231k. After 13 years(2020) I bought me a new to me cb7 66k miles. And I love it. This time I did the timing belt right when I got it. Back then I was just a dumb teen and broke..... nice video about the cb7 most underrated honda ever. Keep them cb7 videos coming.

Bought a 91 cb7 when my z31 300zx died and I have to say I love it. I've driven mine at a sustained 100mph on the highway with no issues. It just plants itself and rides like a cadillac. I've gotten it up to about 115 with no issues there. I had a manual 98 civic and I deeply regretted selling it so im gonna make sure I hang on to this accord.

My 92 had the main relay solder joints go cold. The water pump started leaking so got the timing belt done at the same time. The rad developed a pin hole near the filling neck. The rotors I changed but it was quite an arduous task. A couple of batteries, drive shafts and exhaust systems. Lastly the shifter cable down at the transmission had to be unseized then greased to restore shifting. Other than that it's been quite exceptional in every way. Not bad for a car that's seen over 30 Canadian winters.

You forget to add the "Main Relay" & Idling up and down on cold They tend to overheat overtime, especially in hot areas. It gets to a point where you no longer can start the or UNLESS you run a cord back to the Green/Yellow wire that comes from the fuel pump indicator over to the front of the car to the main relay socket, in other words "HOT-WIRING" the car so it can start. Idling up and Down during a cold start is due to the IAC sensor, overtime it gets super dirty and for some people tend to bother them and they have to take half of the throttle to get to it. But for me, I've had 4 of these and they all did it, and believe it or not, they did not bother me a bit. Every time mine did it, I used to caress the steering wheel and be like "its alright baby, take a deep breath" LOL. But Yeah, that's about it for these, I currently own a 1993 Accord SE Coupe that is under construction due to a bent valve. I bought it "as is" so since the body is super straight and it has very but very minor rust I had to save it. :) Nice video!

Im from DR, my dad had a white 1990 LX cb7 since 94 all the way to 2015. I grew up riding it, long story short that car opened up my taste to be involved into cars, and then love them all. I moved to the US in 2009, and I wanted my first car to be a cb7 even though it never happened. We had to sell ours back in DR in 2015 due to having too many issues. Fast forward to last christmas, I bought a 500$ 1991 LX , seattle silver metallic with wine maroon interior, rust in the trunk floor and thats it. Needs some love but once I restore it...it will be my beauty queen.

I had a 1993 Accord EX sedan that I bought used in 1996. God, what a glorious car. Foolishly, I traded in for a different vehicle in 2000. I still regret that decision. That Accord rode and handled so well. I now have a 2002 Accord sedan I bought in 2005 and I'm still driving it. Hopefully, I'll drive it another 17 years. The transmission is flaky, but it keeps going. A Honda mechanic said the transmissions are known to be problematic in this generation.

The body's a little faded but no rust and the interior is mint . Burgundy color so I'm not sure how to define myself yet 😅. But think it's worth having maybe a repaint to make it perfect. Thanks for the info and thankfully 🙏 it came with all the services records and it's drives like new crazy 😜.

I got a 92 Ex with 173k and just did the TBelt, Water pump, all the seals in there too, the distributor, plug wires, oil change, cleaned out most of the intake too. Runs like brand spanking new. Pulls you when you floor it, not like a hellcat but way more than before. Not even a miss, even when I turn on the A/C switch. Yes I can here the ac compressor engage. I took it apart and put it back together several times because I kept missing steps. 🤣🤣🤣 Now I know it inside out. Only thing I have is even though every thing is tight and on, motor mounts too, is there is a vibration that I can feel in the seat and floor board when rpms go up. Like the engine is sitting on the frame but it’s not. I double checked everything. On my first test runs I didn’t have the timing cover on but now I do but I don’t think that would be the source. 🤔🤔🤔🤔

Vibration may be coming from REAR ENGINE MOUNT/ SUPPORT. These wear differently since they are reliant on engine vacuum via small hose...the most complex engine mount I've ever seen, and a beast to replace. There are videos showing methods of replacing the rear engine mount, it may be much easier with a full lift, or just pay somebody reputable to do the work. Easy-to-use check if the rear mount is going bad, just set up a camera looking down and across the engine from fender to fender, then start the car and see if the engine tilts back and forth more than a few fractions of an inch. Or have an assistant help you. This could be the source of your mystery vibration I know this is an old thread, (writing this in Oct '22) so I hope you have resolved the problem by now. Hondas Rule!

While I agree the captive rotor is not a good design, in actual fact changing a rotor is something you are unlikely to do in the ownership. I have owned my CB for over 12 years and the rotors are smooth as the day I bought her. The parts are just quality metal that does not wear with the pads (unlike new cars designed to wear out). In the video it sounds like a routine job that you will do when in fact it is a NON routine job. Provided you change the pads before it scratches the rotor only the pads need changing (designed to be softer than the rotor, just do not buy the hardest pads). Also, should the rotors be scratched they can be machined and machined ON the car
@averyalexander2303
@averyalexander2303 Жыл бұрын
I agree 100%, but I'm extremely easy on my brakes. I barely get any brake dust and when I get where I'm going my rotors are pretty much always either cool or barely warm, never hot. That design would really suck for the people who are always hard on their brakes though! Then again, that's more of a flaw with their driving style than the vehicle IMO.
