This is more than a show , it's a testament to the lives of the people of Newfoundland that's been running for over 50 years .

I'd wonder if this way of life still exists up in Newfoundland or if this is now just a historical memory.

It’s a largely a historical memory now. The old way of life is gone.

Why do so many of these fishermen in these interviews wear Canadian Auto Workers (CAW) Union hats ?

They used to give out hats like that. Sometimes in your mail or if you bought a newspaper, that sorta thing, as a type of advertisement. Fisherman need to cover their faces and heads or they’d be sunburnt within 3-4 trips out. (Edit: This is according to my grandfather. I’m only 30, I don’t remember)
