@@shaneharrisnj3484 As I recall, Magnum's character *was* shot and killed in the 1986-87 season finale. The producers at that time were anticipating that CBS was not going to pick up the show for an eighth season. There was viewer outcry over the seventh season finale, so in response, CBS ended up renewing for an eighth and final season so that the story development could be rectified--and Magnum was brought back to life. That walking into the clouds scene was from the season seven finale.

With the exception of Magnum (which was nearing its end), Newhart (80s), and Murphy, all the others were long gone by this time.

They tried appealing to younger demos (charles in charge, charlie and company, airwolf) but it didn't work. They were also quick to cancel duds unlike NBC in the early 80s when they were dead last and could afford to keep 'duds' like cheers and hill street blues.

Now an independent station NBC with channel 60 wbts.

Simon & Simon wasn't on the CBS Fall 1987 schedule. It returned mid-season.

They were the gold standard of daytime programming.

My Sister Sam has moved to USA Network in early May 1988 after the departure of Rebecca Schaeffer and Melora Hardin finally steps in the role as "Patti" which made her famous. A precision she will continued on this revival edition of the show with Pam Dawber, David Naughton, Jenny O'Hara and Joel Brooks until the spring of 2005.
