Mindy Morrison here. The description between these two partners about how much they care for each other in a job setting like that. I had one once. Victor Vargas 9/11 NYPD died August 23rd 2022 from cancer from 9/11. When in this job you develop a love for your partner in the job. Love and miss mine desperately. Miss you Victor my favorite guy and partner I ever had. Love you my brother

I remember how bad my anguish was when my mother died in her hospital bed so I can't imagine how horrible it must have been knowing that your family member is under a crumbled building and that they may not even be able to identify them. . .

This was such a human tragedy. But it was also a construction tragedy. This building should not have been occupied. And so many missed that point long before this occurred. No one should be buried alive in such a building collapse. If we can build structures that are earthquake resistant, we can certainly build 12 story buildings that don't kill people. So sad. So very very sad. Those poor families. They couldn't pull themselves away from being close to their loved ones. They were helpless, just like the victims. This is exactly why so much needs to be done with regards to building integrity and safety. Slab on column construction should be outlawed. There should be spandrel beams across decks and between each column. The notion that you could pour a thin concrete slab and rest it on thin columns with no extra joinery is absurd. All such buildings should be condemned. Life is just too important to do less.

I think her sister went to get the cat. I remember watching the video when her sister went and saw that it was indeed her cat. More tears. But happy ones. Just wish they had been able to save all the humans and animals.

True obviously we primarily focus on the family is when these tragedies happen and our hearts lay with them but the first responders are right up there for sure in my estimation as far as - I really don’t even have a word for it. And I’m not saying they were all volunteer or anything but they’re still in that field by choice. Although, I don’t think this is quite what they thought they would be doing and thank God isn’t most days. I wish I could say I hope everyone is OK but I know not everybody is. But this is one tragedy that I won’t forget. And the magnitude. Too many tragedies. 😢

I didn’t know anybody there but I remember they would say something on the news and I would be like oh my Gd- it’s been a month already? At first, the coverage is frequent daily on all the news channels. Then it slows down. So many of us could have something else on our minds, and not be thinking of it 24 seven after a few days. Even voracious viewers of news. But not the family or friends of those they were still praying for a miracle. 😢 It’s good to remind us and very brave of the families who share some of the details we didn’t necessarily see at the time.

I remember waking every morning, rushing to the news, EXPECTING to hear of an overnight miracle of someone found alive. Morning after morning, nothing until everyone was accounted for. Just broke my heart. Then there was the day they decided the building had to come down and no one could return to their homes. The talk of animals left behind. So much pain and loss for every resident of that building. Thank you for reminding us again of both the living and the dead. Bless you ALL.

Very well done! To all of the families and loved ones , I'm a Canadian living in England and when I heard of this terrible tragedy it devastated me. I checked the news every day hoping that someone would be found alive. Then as reality hit I went to hoping that everyone just had their loved ones back to have a proper funeral for them. This tragedy should NEVER have happened ! I hope you have all found some sort of closure in your own way. My heart goes out to every one of you. To all of the teams that worked so hard to rescue people's loved ones and then the recoveries , you are heros! Thank God there are people like you who can and will do this work, as you have to be a special kind of human being . To risk your own lives with all of that danger and also risk your own mental health to do this important work is beyond BRAVE! I hope you all had your own sense of closure to this tragedy . Thank you !

Alan Kilsheimer is a structural engineer that was hired by the town to investigate the cause and a YEAR later, he still has no clue!?? Here's what really happened.....there's at least two guys on YT that have dug into this in great detail. Looking at their data it's very clear what brought it down. To put it simply, the building was under built, with fairly small columns and no pads for the floors to rest on causing high sheer stress. Key columns had long term water intrusion into the concrete from the pool deck causing sprawling of the concrete due to the rebar corroding. Additionally, immense weight was added to the building over time from heavy tile and stone remodels to condos that originally had lighter materials installed. Also balconies had almost all been tiled as well. Finally they also added planters on the pool deck with trees inside. Very heavy. All of this over time, was enough to cause a failure of a column near the pool deck. As the deck went down it put lateral stresses on the remaining columns, pulling them down too. From there it was over.

My daughter is a P.E. Something she has relayed to me often is not only wanting to be absolutely sure her calculations are correct, it’s the emotional devastation she would carry with her for life if she was wrong, leading to casualties. From what I understand, anyone the famiies can imagine suing, are being sued, including the construction contractors building next to the towers, who had nothing to do with the collapse. With Kilsheimer, no doubt, he wants to be thorough, and to cover his ass. All around, it’s a tragic situation for everyone involved. I pray the families eventually are able to find solace with other one another. God Bless.

Right it is impossible not to have a clue on what happened after a year long investigation. They even victim blame the families saying the lawsuits prevented him from doing research. How dare they? I have never seen a tragedy like this where they don't have at least a very likely theory of what went wrong. That engineer was hired and told NOT to find the problems, that's the thing.
@denisek292
@denisek292 Жыл бұрын
@@Sophya7 But it’s the truth they have sued anyone and everyone they can think of. The HOA, elected by the entire complex, didn’t make the necessary repairs the structural engineer hired by said HOA warned were of utmost importance. So, yes, I do blame the residents for not doing the right thing. They didn’t want to spend the money. My daughter is an engineer, and has studied all the facts, so I’m not shooting from the hip. Why blame the engineer hired by the city? He’s taking a huge risk, and putting his livelihood and license on the line. The families have proven they’re out for money by suing entities that had nothing to do with the structural integrity of their building. Look at it this way: If you found termites in your home, had a termite inspector say the structural integrity was at risk, wouldn’t you spend the money to repair your home? Would you blame the termite company if you failed to make the repairs and the house collapsed?

I remember watching a program about a shopping mall that collapsed; I think it was in India. The recoverers found a woman, alive, more than a week after the collapse, because she had been fortunate to be trapped in a void that had enough oxygen to keep her alive. It was a miracle. The authorities were praying for a similar miracle for those Champlain Towers victims. Such sadness that there was no such luck.

I believe, that it was the rain puddleing on the roof leaking through the ceilings of the apartments causing them to deteriorate There was a picture of a bucket that was catching water and a high powered fan blowing the carpet to dry the carpet, on one of the levels in a hallway. How concerning, didn't they care about where the water was coming from. Should have been an investigation as to where that water was coming from.

I was awake watching KZfaq when the towers collapsed saw a video of it and started to follow the story. Financially successful people were going through a tragedy in their life. I didn’t know how their lives were, watching the year later videos I saw that a lot of them had very happy lives up to this point. I realized we all experience tragedy and pain in life. In my life my first 40 years were like hell. I experienced a lot of emotional and physical pain. I have found healing from all my trauma and pain, and the rest of my life I will live in joy and not misery. These people had it the other way around, good happy start and then tragedy, and even though the healing process won’t bring back their loved ones, they can become different people. Not that they were bad people before, but they can find new growth which only happens through pain and suffering, and they have an opportunity to meet God face to face and experience His unconditional love. Again, I know this won’t bring back their loved ones, but will help them find peace and love amidst tragedy and give them hope that they will see their loved ones after this life ends, in the eternity. One may ask how do I get there? The first step is the desire, and the second one is being honest with God how you feel. Tell him about your anger sadness, loneliness, whatever you may be feeling. Open that conversation and ask Him to help you heal and experience His healing love. You will be mazes how God will start working in your life. It may be sudden, may take time, regardless once you open that door, He will reveal His love and healing to you and give you hope. Life without hope is nearly impossible, with hope it’s possible to find joy again. May God give you comfort in your difficult time! Bible says the Holy Spirit - Ruach HaKodesh is given to us to comfort us. May He comfort you all my dearly beloved!
