Interesting story, a What-If scenario where most people would want the huge piles of money, but it always comes at a price! Fun story, great acting, and always some twists at the end!

Nice story. I like when most of the characters live "happily ever after." And those commercials are great. English Leather one kills me!!!

Used to listen to this on KNX 1070 here in the greater Los Angeles area. Caught it whenever I was near a radio (usually in the car) and there was no one around to whine about those "Old, boring radio programs". Little did they know that the programs were five years old, or less. Then, one night, it happened. The news anchor who was on duty that evening made the announcement that the CBS Radio Network was no longer providing the feed for The CBS Radio Mystery Theater. At that point, they played a full hour of the Classic Radio Shows which had only been half of the KNX Radio Hour. Soon, because of a management change, the entire hour was only a memory. Really a shame. I'm glad I can now listen here. The presentations, with the original ads left intact really give it a mood that takes me back. Thank you ChillySunshine. My fedora is off to you.

I'm 75+ and ever since my mid-20s I've felt that my possessions own me, even though I've always lived modestly. This episode reminded me it could be worse.

This isn't really an honest proof. His point was that his lifestyle+more money would be better. Of course if money is given in such a way it ruins his life style, that would be bad, but that doesn't prove him wrong. It's like someone saying they'd be happier with a dog, so you give him one that's a terror and say "see, a dog won't make you happier." I have no doubt if he'd quietly received a $50k settlement, he would have married her and had his own mechanic place, and live happily ever after.

Or someone saying that they'd be happier if they were married, then they become married and their spouse because the spouse from hell. Then you say to them "see, what's so great about being married?".

I enjoyed this but not sure how believable this could be in real life. Of course, we've all heard the "Howard Hughes" story and could quite easily make loose comparisons. Anyhow it was still great radio. Thanks.

The author really had to put their thumb on the scale to prove that 'money won't bring you happiness'. lol

No but money brings something more important than happiness, it brings security, piece of mind. I have never ,ever in my life heard anyone say that they want to win the Mega Millions or the Powerball when the jackpot is several hundreds of millions of dollars because they want to be happy, they want to win it because then they can walk into their job and tell their boss to kiss their ass and take their job and shove it. People want security, piece of mind, knowing that they can lay down at night and know that no one can hold a job over their head to maintain control over them, guess what? marriage doesn't make anyone happy, but that doesn't stop people from getting married. So why should it stop people from wanting to be rich?

We need that today, with rich politicians clueless about the impacts of 40 year high inflation, growing shortages of staples, record high gas prices and it will get worse. Idiots in charge are ideologues, out of touch with working stiffs!

A story somewhat inspired by the 6-month old demise of Howard Hughes, and how a "Nobody" inadvertently became a part of Hughes' inheritors, although in real life it was a fraud. This story has a nicer outcome.

This lawyer or whatever This guy thinks he is there would be a 48inch 2x4. And give him a little bit of a love tap to get the hell out of that locked environment he's in Then go find his ex-boss that's involved with this lawyer that has him locked up. Just because he's a billionaire,,,,, Then get both of those crooked bastards locked up,,,,,, And that would be the end of them..... Out of his life.. because I had a kind of go through the kind of the same thing................ But I am not. No millionaire or billionaire..... .

What do you mean everything? I'm married and have a 4yr old and a 10yr old son. I'm guessing that 'everything' means, everything else but, time alone!! With these two wild boys, it's a no brainer why we're still stuck with just them two!
