The Point Fire in northern Sonoma County near Lake Sonoma burned over 1,000 acres and remained at 15% containment late Sunday. Kevin Ko reports.

I would love it if these newspeople would include maps to show where they are talking about. First, an overall view of where in the state the fire is. Second, a more local map that includes highways and local features.

I live not far from this fire.. it’s in in Sonoma county and it’s just south of Lake Sonoma just out of Healdsburg which is a small community… I live in Santa Rosa.. hope this helps.. we’ve had several fires here since the tubbs fire in 2017.. that was two blocks from me..

For 27 years, we rarely had a large fire. 1991 - 2018. In the last 6 years since I retured, off the charts. It makes ZERO SENSE. UNLESS. ..

why are there so many fricking fires ? someone is setting them off, this one being near the road. Damn fire insurance all ready high as hell.

it's very hot too. that doesn't help. lots of things can trigger fires to spread. Even people parking cars in dry tall grass in hot weather can start up a fire!!!

It was hot, dry, and windy with winds blowing southward -meaning the fire just "happened" to start in the ideal place at just the right time to become a wildfire. There's a pattern to these things. (And I agree, these are NOT just accidental.)

@@bedvyryou sure are right.. I live here in Sonoma county and I’ve reported two people that set fires couple of years ago.. I’m constantly paying attention to my surroundings ..

Lots of money in it . I live in the Klamath National Forest and we get big fires every year thanks to the Forest circus mismanaging our forests

@@teri03 I agree, I said this to my therapist today. Now all those horses and all those animals had to suffer. No one should get to own homes, animals, or have children if they run from a small fire.

Omg. ! I’m really really sorry.. I live two blocks from the edge of where the tubbs fire was here in Santa Rosa … was such a horrible thing.. I had spent the night on my roof watering everywhere I could.. there was so much burning debris coming down… I was gonna go to a friends n had some things in the car including my cats … but I ended up staying n going up on the roof… I hope you’re doing ok… I have many friends who too lost their home in that fire …

I live about twenty miles from this fire we had one come closer then this.gotta keep the go bag ready and animal crates.kind of early this fire season usually it starts around august.

The town of sonoma was surrounded by three fires and the residents swear that the vast spread of vineyards saved their homes. Personally? My throat burns near sunset every night near the ones by me…. Toxic spray ? Yeah, they are nasty on the environment too

@@lesliepropheter5040you kno thru all the fires here these past 7 years now.. I’ve noticed no vineyards were lost !! There are little vineyards up on spring mtn road n we had that glass fire a few years ago n so much of the trees burned up on spring mtn !!! It was so depressing !! Many homes up there were lost as well.. a lot of felled trees too.. I go over that road to work n there were helicopters hauling those felled trees for months n months n there’s still a lot up there !!

It has been really bad since Sunday am.. I got up around 7 am n went outside n I thought oh ! It’s alreAdy warm out n there was ‘a breeze’ n I thought this is a beautiful am but something doesn’t feel right right now .. bingo !
