Went to McDonald’s yesterday. I haven’t been there in a long time. I had a coupon for a free soda and med fry with any large sandwich. What surprised me was the prices. All the meals were over $10. No prices were shown for individual sandwiches. They must be ashamed of prices. My 1/4 pounder with cheese was close to $7. Really, if I’m going to spend over 10 bucks it won’t be at a McDonald’s. That burger was not worth the money. There were more workers there than customers. Not posting prices was ridiculous and the workers barely spoke English. I won’t be back unless I’m on a road trip and nothing else is available.

No, that is incorrect. For example, Hobby Lobby , which is a right-wing family owned chain, does pay their full-time workers a living wage. In my area it's over $15 per hour. They are still able to compete with their competitors such as JoAnn and Michaels. Furthermore, Disney World and Amazon just raised wages to $15 per hour. Business is booming for both. Mcdonalds food hasn't tasted good since the 90's: Apple pies were crazy good. The big Mac was a great burger. The Fries were universally considered the best. The food even used to smell good. Now? The food stinks literally and figuratively. Sometimes I'll have a craving for mcds and I'll hit the drive thru but when I get about 5 bites in, I go ahead and accept that it's disgusting and that my "craving" was more nostalgic-- wanting what I remembered mcds tasting like in the 90's. On another note, does anybody remembr when Burger Kings breakfast croissant sandwiches used to actually be on a REAL croissant (buttery and flakey)? Those were hella good. Only fast food burger I trust now is IN and OUT (Please stay private IN and OUT, so u dont start cutting corners/quality to thicken profits).

Very touching story. The CEO and his wife sound like they are good people. However, the last few minutes of the video sealed the deal that it is just a PR stint for McDonald's. Due to a 4.1 percent decline in customer traffic in 2014, Thompson announced that he was stepping down from his CEO position effective March 1, 2015. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Don_Thompson_(executive)

The have innovated at all? They have only gotten worse over time. In the 1980s they had great food that actually tasted good. They have slowly worked the quality out of their food and even if they change now I doubt they can shake the image of being the lowest quality fast food you can get.

I worked at McDonalds back in early 2000 while I was in high school. I look back at it now and think wow what a great time. I was 17 making my own money and able to buy my own things. I worked in the grill on closing shifts. What I actually enjoyed the most was shifts where I had dish washing duties. It was great because I was in the back room doing my job and nobody to bother me. On pretty much every night we racked up about $30-40k in sales. On special days (2 for 1 deal, fish filet Friday, etc.) we would rack up about $100k of sales in 24 hours. My McDonalds was in a pretty decent spot and location matters.

That's 100% a myth. Fast food restaurants already run as economically as possible meaning they hire the minimum number of people needed and have them work the minimum number of hours they need. A higher wage doesn't effect the staffing requirements of the restaurant and wouldn't result in firings or in hours cut, it would simply result in higher costs for the company and eat into their enormous profits.

Interesting, MCD does offer a competitive package besides wages they offer: tuition reimbursement, health insurance and opportunities for advancement with increased pay opportunities that overshadow min wage subject. Not bad huh?
@juliangjackson2859 жыл бұрын
How does that overshadow getting paid below the poverty line?
@known36178 жыл бұрын
+Julian Jackson the Ceo of large companies don't regulate or even get the chance to look at what the grunts make an hour. all of that is determined by McDonald's board of directors and their legislatures, only they set that bar for what the people make not Don Thomson. and if your not into making 9$ an hour then maybe you be more interested in making 8 cents a day in Indonesia or Thailand.
