Oscar-winning filmmaker Quentin Tarantino has fulfilled a new dream, by publishing his first novel - an adaptation of his acclaimed period epic, "Once Upon a Time … in Hollywood." Correspondent Tracy Smith talks with Tarantino about the pleasures of becoming a novelist and a father, and his plans for his 10th (and final) film.

Tarantino did an interview with Tom Snyder in the 90’s when his career was really getting started about his absent father from childhood, and getting to hear him conclude his filmmaking career with his son is so sweet

@@AKGeesman Yes there is, both spellings are correct and they mean the same thing; in the direction of. "Toward" is the preferred spelling in the US and Canada, but "towards" is the preferred spelling in countries such as UK and Australia. And given that the person above could very well be from either UK or Australia, there is nothing wrong with the spelling he or she chose. You are incorrect.

i've always thought at heart he was such a good man, the irony is with all the violence in his movies, any true fan will tell you the stories are always rooted in love, family, and friendship....a feeling of belonging. what a happy ending for his film career and i can't wait to read his books & see his last film. He always does incredible interviews imo. Directors rarely want to share so much of their sight and substance or influences and journeys. Quentin is a artist who is proud of his work. Glad he has made fatherhood such a priority.

Just finished the book. I enjoyed it a lot. It was a surprise how different it was from the film… It was way more sentimental, did not expect that. Highly recommend it.

What a great segment! I loved seeing him walk into The Beverly Theatre. I drive by it often knowing he owns it and can't wait to watch something there. Tickets go SO FAST!

I’m not a father but my brother was much younger than I was. He was a baby when I was in High School. Now We enjoy watching a lot of movies I grew up on and sharing that experience and passing it down is very fulfilling. I can only imagine what it’s like as a parent. Especially if you connect and enjoy the material and experience

Except now he has a kid that i'm sure he will want to spend all his time with. Being away from home for months filming a movie when he wants to be around his kid growing up is all it takes to make actors and directors retire. I have seen it many times.

He won’t win one with the way Oscars have worked in the last decade or so. They seem to favor depressing woke trash that nobody wants to watch. At least when it was arthouse movies winning it was just “well I guess this must be deep on some level I don’t see”. But now it’s so shallow it’s predictable. You can call the winner a mile away just based on all the victim categories the main character checks.

His final film should intertwine some of the works he’s already built. A huge prequel with the Vega brothers, reservoir dog characters, even Cliff booth and Leo set in the 80’s where they can all exist. And are still alive lol

His last movie should be an amalgam of all his characters and stories in some capacity. Work them all into the story somehow.Whether watching them on a film within the film. Or however. From Django to Aldo to Honey Bunny to Booth. Tim Roth and Amanda plumber should start the film, still robbing diners.

Very exciting NEWS. The movie was so very spot-on, with a refreshing ending. Thankfully. I literally lived Once Upon A Time. In fact, my book CRO 1967, should be back from my editor soon. In a perfect world , dang, just BSing with Quentin would transcend KARMA. Great post! I will travel to a bookstore soon to grab this gem. The movie, to me, one of the best, ever. The book has to be the proverbial cherry on the top of the sundae of super cinema . 👍👋🎯😷💉🍀🇺🇸👍
