@@nt6697 Yeongjo is remembered as one of the greatest Kings in Joseon's history. He managed to control the political factions whose in-fighting had plagued the court for decades and disrupted the stability of the government. He discouraged waste and prohibited showings of extreme luxury, promoted agriculture, lowered taxes for the the commoners, improved printing tehniques etc. He discovered competent scholars who established Silhak which led to a revival in various fields (society, industry, art, culture and so on + today, the Silhak scholars are seen as the base of modern Korea). Such progress hadn't been seen since the time of Sejong the Great. Yeongjo paved the way for Jeongjo's renaissance and their reigns are known as the second golden era of Joseon. There's literally no proof that he killed Gyeongjong. Hui-bin's son was extremely sickly all his life and he wasn't even able to actually handle the nation for most of his reign. Yeongjo was the one who was in-charge during that time too and his brother was going to die soon anyways. The one who started the rumours that Yeongjo killed him is Gyeongjong's brother-in-law, a member of the Soron, which were Yeongjo's enemies. He WASN'T dumb. In fact, Yeongjo was a child prodigy and mastered Chinese classics during his early years. He was extremely smart and wrote numerous books. Again, no proof that he was actually violent with Yi San.
