Size 18 Plume Tip tied with CDC and natural stripped peacock quill! Also called a quill body emerger, it is a must have dry fly for any river angler.
Materials:
Hook: #18
Thread: Black 8/0
Body: Natural stripped peacock quill
Thorax: Natural Hares Ear
Wing: 2 x Natural CDC Feathers

CDC plume tip has been successful on a few tricky fish in the last few weeks. One rainbow was very interested in the elkhair caddis and parachute adams that I tried first but it wouldn't take them, just inspecting them closely and then turning away. Cast the plume tip out and it swam confidently over and took it immediately. Cheers!

Your flies are ideal-simple and effective. :-) There is way too much nonsense around fly patterns and their uses. :-)

Depends on the size of the fish you're chasing. That's on a Tiemco 103BL

That’s always been my number one dry fly here in Ireland on the rivers but I tie it as per Jeremy Lucas’ original with a grey heron herl body & a thorax of dubbed CDC fibres from the trimmed butts, it’s a wonderfully effective fly
