CDDA Tutorial - Tilesets

In this episode of my tutorial series for Cataclysm Dark Days Ahead, we talk about tilesets. I'll give you a very brief explanation of how to manually install tilesets and then I'll run over a lot of the available options. Some tilesets were pruned in recent versions, so some of those that I talk about in this episode are no longer available. I know that some people like seeing a tileset comparison, hopefully this is good enough. Anyway, installing and changing tilesets in CDDA is pretty straight forward and I don't expect you'll struggle with it much.

In this tutorial series for Cataclysm Dark Days Ahead I will be doing my best to teach you how to play the game. I'll cover tips and tricks for playing CDDA and hopefully equip you to survive the zombie apocalypse. Each episode will be as heavily edited as my meager ability will allow. Although Cataclysm: Dark Days Ahead is a difficult game about surviving in the apocalypse, if you stick it out you'll realize this is the best zombie sandbox type game ever created.

Cataclysm Dark Days Ahead is a zombie survival sandbox game in the style of a roguelike. There's a wide variety of zombies as well as non-zombie enemies, and the game overall is in my top 3 best games of all time. The freedom you're given in the game, the ability to mutate your survivor, install bionics, or build a vehicle from scratch, all make this one of my favorites that you should check out!

I always love how thorough you are within the confines of what you are trying to do. It's easy to just say, "I don't care. Good enough". On the other side, it's just as easy to go crazy trying to talk about everything and get every detail perfect. Hitting the sweet spot in the middle is super hard. As always, I'm enjoying it 😃

just wanted to leave a comment to try and boost the video, after getting a lot of the goodie out of zomboid my eyes have really been opened to a lot of games and CDDA is something i can't wait to dive into. these videos have already answered a lot of my questions and I'm looking forwards to getting through the rest of them!

I remember when we started getting tiles was pretty exciting. I've mostly stuck to Retro Days or Hitbuttons but been giving Ultica a shot lately, enjoying it so far.

I don't see an option to enable tilesets for the overmap. Is that only available in experimental?

I'm not sure, I think so. Either you're on a version that does not have it or you have a build that does not allow tiles.

Politely asking people not to post links, since I cannot easily moderate them, is not aggressive. I have videos where 100% I am rude or aggressive, this is not one of them.
