South-Africa’s case at the International Court of Justice teaches us humanity amidst times where we need it the most. And more African countries, these days, followed teaching us what humanity is.
Together with the majority of the world, they concluded that we are witnessing one of the greatest atrocities of this century. And they’re right.
This war has tormented generations, children, futures, families, and a whole people.
This war brings out the worst forms of sexual and gender-based violence, including the Hamas attack on the 7th of October. These war crimes cannot go uninvestigated and unpunished.
This war forces women in Gaza to give birth under the most inhumane conditions and has caused the most civilian casualties in such a brief period.
The world is looking at us. How many more debates are still needed until we realise that we must demand a cease…fire… now!
Bring an end to this nightmare. Think of the children in Gaza. As nothing justifies the 10,000 killed children.
I ask the Commission to maintain the credibility of the European Union as human rights champion.
If we fail to advocate for a ceasefire, we cannot lecture anyone on human rights. Human rights apply to everyone, also for the people of Gaza.
