Is it Possible to Reach the “Perfect” Lowest Score in New Super Luigi U?

Күн бұрынIn New Super Luigi U there are certain events outside of the players control that always add points to the score counter. The 50 timer points we have to pay at end of each stage, 8000 points for each normal super mario boss fight on the route, and 20000 points for defeating bowser during the final battle. This means that the “perfect” lowest possible score in New Super Luigi U is 52900 points. Those are all the score points that are not under our control. But is it actually possible to beat the game with this few points? In this video we are going to investigate if it is possible to reach the perfect lowest score in New Super Luigi U!

It's the Gamechamp3000 technique. I wouldn't mind it so much if either of them mixed it up just a little with an actual failure, but the bait-and-switch doesn't work if you've overused the bait.

Quick explanation why different coins have different hit boxes. When designing sprites for a game it is good practice to put the sprite near the edge of the hit box. In this case Nintendo put it to the right side so when someone comes from the right the coin has an ever so slightly smaller chance of picking it up.

my personal headcannon is that while making his way to bowsers castle the point total is actually the total amount of damages he has to pay to the locals, and ceave is trying to lessen the amount of things he kills/steals so he has to pay less

This came out over 2 years ago now... This is one of very few videos that got me into Mario, and it has changed my life so much. Thank you so much, Ceave. Edit: Almost 4 years? Where has the time gone? So much has happened since then, both good and bad. When I first saw this video, I had no idea what would happen. I feel so bad for me in the alternate timeline that never discovered this video.

Remember in your coinless playthrough on Luigi U you used the mini mushroom to avoid those 3 coins? That’s likely possible to use by getting a mini mushroom via toad house in world 5 then using on the tower. Maybe subtracts 300 points from the 5000 only. Edit: I realized timer points

Btw there’s a speed running category called “low%” where the goal is to complete a game with the lowest completion percentage possible. If your completion percentage is lower than anyone else’s your run is better than theirs even if you were slower. Therefore, this is technically a segmented speed run.

To get rid of the coin in the level on 10:40 you can bubble toad, then wait until he's farther away from one of the coin arches, pop him, and escape one of the arches of coins.

For anyone wondering, if we assume that the single frame glitch is possible and the game can be beat with 0 timer points, I did the math and this is what that would amount to The video shows 18 stages worth of 50 timer points each, so multiplying 18 by 50, we get 900 So in theory, the lowest possible score in reality is 5200 - 900 = 4300

*Please like so Ceave Gaming sees this* An idea for skipping the 1 of the 3 coins in stonecrush tower would be to take advantage of the bubble hit box being larger than the player's hitbox. Have 2 blue toads and luigi on screen. Pop yellow and blue toad, bubble luigi, get blue and yellow toad to the first coin, bubble yellow toad, have blue toad pop yellow toad when yellow toad is holding down. Bubble blue toad and complete the rest as yellow toad. This may not be RTA possible, but it may be possible. Edit: Wow thanks for all the support!!!

I recreated the glitch of 0 sec only one time in 1-2.Its frame perfect but with a mod that let me see frame by frame I could try to do it in other levels, the glitch was not patched in super luigi U, just in an update of that game. Hope you see it and that is helpfull

So I know this is an old video, and this has probably already pointed out, but one way that you could get your score lower is to do this: Instead of collecting an acorn suit in 1-1, beat the tower and use the boost mode star to defeat the tower one boss. then, the acorn mushroom will apear on the map for free, saving at most 750 points, assuming that you can beat the tower without any points with no acorn suit. the reason for 750 saved points rather than 950 is because with no acorn, you have to collect the flagpole points at 100 points per level.

There is one way to make the run EASIER (not lower the point value). If you wait for the card symbols to go away from the magic blocks, they don't spit coins everywhere If you want to see this in action, look at the green block at 18:04.

To reiterate, boost star mode, the think that allows for pointless boss battles, only activates when you land on 10 card platforms in a row before their symbols disappear.

Giin you only need that mechanic for when you need to use boost star mode, like for killing a boss. There are parts of other levels where he is using the platforms solely to move around the level and to avoid things.

So this is the shortest path through the game, all the timer points have been proven to be required with our current knowledge of the game, and the bowser switch is necessary to progress further into the game. So what this means is that the only points that are "obstacles" rather than "progress triggers" are the 300 points in stone crush tower. 3 coins stand between us and true perfection. Put a bounty on it.

With the last 300 points from the coins, you MIGHT be able to do some crazy bubble manipulation between toad and Luigi/Nabbit where they pop each other in spots where there aren't any coins. Not sure really how you would do it and how hard it would be, but you also have to watch out for the floor and ceiling crushing you. Seems like this could be something tested with TAS before trying for hours on end to try to get it yourself.

The coins rise up in two spots where you can stand underneath, if you could pop toads bubble there, put luigi/Nabbit in a bubble, and maybe somehow get under the next spot where the coins rise up

There are some tas tools, there's at least one that lets you frame advance on the console which would be what you'd need for this type of thing. Great vid! Earlier, I had tried to beat NSLU pointless, and was messing around with timer points, and landed on the pole at 0 seconds. Although it stopped stopped at 0, it doesn’t count down from 0. It starts counting down from 999, then fades to black after about 5 seconds. Pointless (XD) mechanic, but it is possible to hit the pole with 0 seconds left
