I was switched at the hospital with a baby who had A LOT of black hair and I had a little bit of strawberry blond. The nurses would not listen to my mom. She saw me down the hall with the other family who seemed perfectly content to take me home. My Grandmother who worked for the government laid down the law and the nurses fixed it but it was close.

Wow,what a story.I was adopted and did the DNA test about 3 yrs ago and it came back that I am 53% Ashkenazi Jew.I was floored,not that it was a bad thing I just never expected or even had the thought that I might be part Jewish.Forward three years ;my middle baby girl found my bio family.I just turned 60, never did I dream that I could find my family this late in life.But my Mom is still alive,I have 4half siblings on my Moms side and 3half siblings on my Dads side.My Bio Dad is still alive but his kids think he is to frail to be told,other then that it has been more then I could have ever dreamed of.If they hadn’t have come out with DNA kits, I never would have found out.It was a little rocky in the beginning but we’re all good now.😊

When I started the Ancestry with my husbands cousin we learned a lot of information and learned how to dig up hard to find information. I took care of the DNA tests and attaching them to the tree and getting them all into GED match. My cousin worked on the records portion of the trees. When her mother and her family did their DNS tests they came to my email. I opened my cousins mother first and entered her information. As I went further into her matches I realized she was showing as a half sibling to her brother and two sisters. I opened their tests and every matched parentage except my Aunt, her father was not the same. I closed my laptop and asked my cousin a bit more about her grandparents and when and where her grandfather was in WWII. She pulled up his record and gave the dates of when he was over seas, I said ok now when was your mother born? She told me her birthdate but it didn’t register with her what that meant. I told her it takes nine months to carry a baby 10 if you get very technical, your grandfather was overseas when your mother was conceived. She laughed and said no that’s not right. We pulled out all the letters he mailed her while he was overseas and indeed he was not in the US when her grandmother got pregnant. I showed her the DNA results and she was astounded. Her grandfather had to know that it wasn’t his baby but stayed and raised her as his own. He wrote her love letters and notes until the day she died many many years later. I left her with all the information and told her she needed to go see her mom. Well all of her siblings except one were astounded but ok with the news, their parents loved each other deeply and were long since passed. One sister however was very angry that we had found out this information, that it would put a stain on their family. It was 2018 no one thinks like that anymore 😳🙄, we respected her privacy and only the immediate family knows this. My Aunt now has spoken and met a few of her bio dads family. There have been a few other surprises along the way, two half siblings, one for myself and one Aunt on my dad’s side. It’s fascinating!

I knew of a similar case of an "Irish" clog dancing friend who did her DNA only to find.....Ashkenazi Jewish, Italian, and some Irish. Turns out the Jewish ancestors were in show biz in the early 20th century and changed their surname to get work. Luckily older relatives knew about the history but it wouldn't have come out if not for DNA. P.S. I had always just assumed my friend was Jewish as she reminded me of other Jews I know.

They severely botched the evidence retrieval. DNA was just starting to be used but a lot of people didn't think it was an accurate tool yet. They went in presuming her parents did it, so it would've biased their investigation.
@JACKDAWFISH
@JACKDAWFISH 3 жыл бұрын
@@darcygeorge8411 I disagree. DNA analysis may not have been what it is today, but the bothched evidence was done on purpose. I had for years thought I might be part Native American since I am descended from Conquistadors who came to Florida 1565 and took Native American women as wives (slaves). So I predicted I was about 0.5% Native American and my test said 0.6% Native American. I also predicted 49% Irish, 49% English 1% Spanish and 0.5% other European. I turned out to be 46% Irish, 52% English, 1% Spanish, 0.3% other European and trace amounts of northeast Asian (Mongolia) and trace amounts of Arab. That surprised me until I realized that the Mongols invaded Europe and intermarried and there were Arabs in southern Spain for a few centuries prior to my Spanish ancestors going to America. While not a perfect prediction I found out I'm a pretty good genealogist.

Yes, I agree that their are a lot of stories coming out o baby being switched at birth. I often wonder if this is done intentionally, and if not why has it happened so much more than we know? And, are these considered experimental case studies that people are unaware of? Just like the studies that they discovered on twins being separated. A continuous human experiment. This shouldn't be happening in any hospital, someone ought to be held accountable for the switch..

SaltieCat interesting... I wonder how close you have to be to show as a DNA match? Like, biologists say, we’re all related at some point if you go back far enough... (I’m not going to insult you by asking if it was an uncle by marriage). What’s also disturbing is you wonder how many people get married who are closely related and don’t know it.
@SaltieCat
@SaltieCat 3 жыл бұрын
@@grimtt 23andme shows anything from parent/child to distant relatives as matches, and everything else falls in with my extensive genealogical research. I LOLed at "uncle by marriage' ;-) The uncle who doesn't show as a match is my dad's brother. My mother's brother shows as a match, and I can connect the majority of second cousins who match. The only other weird thing is my first cousin's daughter doesn't show up as a match. But after seeing screen shots of her results (sent to me by my cousin), I think she has a different father -- not my cousin.

In orthodox Judaism the father has to be Jewish. In the Zionist version new interpretation of Judaism, they attribute religion to the mother. They did this as Jewish men would marry local women in the European areas while adopting new surnames to appear to be of those local population. Due to wanting to fit in and as a claims for legitimacy for being seen as citizens of the country. Because they were few in numbers they also claimed the children of the Jewish mothers and non Jewish father's as their own to increase the numbers of Jews.
