This is another basic and informative video about 'How to do the binding trim' to give a finish to the edges of several of our upholstery projects. It does not seem so important... on the contrary, it is a very useful trim and an upholsterer should master the how to, the same way as doing piping or french seams.
There are 'special binder attachments' that help to do a nicer binding. Some sewing-machines come with this accesory, otherwise you should have to adapt it to your machine.
To do this demonstration, I have used a practical way.
I hope you enjoy the video!
César

Awesome video thank you so much for making this! After sewing binding today on the bottom of a 60 toot vinyl skirt with a binder on a Consew 206 and finishing it just a few feet by hand without a binder after it didn't work out. I really appreciate this video with you doing this without a binder by hand. Your work is so professional and so nice.

+Frank Deruyck, Thanks for your suggestion! In fact, that's the idea of compiling different upholstery techniques...but, it will take some time to get to this stage. It is very interesting what are you going to do with the 'old cars', restoring them original as how they came from factory.

Hi Lynn, I used for this demonstration polyester thread 138 two strands. It is supposed these carpets are going to be used in a car interior. Bonded threads would work out much better and last longer. More information:www.thethreadexchange.com/miva/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=polyester-thread-138 In my point of view nylons would be more resistant to moisture:www.thethreadexchange.com/miva/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=nylon-thread-138 The best of the best thread for outdoors is Tenara thread: www.gore.com/products/sewing-thread-for-outdoor-applications
