Definitely, the making of molds to get a perfect headrest cover is of great importance.
Some headrests are bulky and rounded difficult to mold as if they were flat surfaces.
As we can see, I first have gotten the mold directly from the headrest foam base using cardstock paper. I only used a half side considering the othe half is the same. Then this distorted mold is transferred to a new cardstock paper to get a 'flat mold' that would be replicated on materials such as vinyl or leather.
This academic technique is taught in our basic courses and can be applied to different upholstery projects.
'Flat felled seams or oversewing' is an ornamental stitch on top view close to junction sewing lines. It helps to flatten the seams and make the fitting process of the cover onto the foam base much easier.
Oversewing on car headrests should be done on post or cylinder sewing machines. It can also be done with flat bed sewing machines with some difficulty though.
Spring loaded guide presser feet make our 'oversewing' much better.
Regularly, to ease the sewing process, pieces with straight edges should be on top of pieces with rounded edges. The small round piece should remain flat on the sewing machine table. The other piece with straight edge is manipulated and sewn down all around the rounded piece edge.
I hope you find this video useful!

It is the method we use in most of our videos to learn upholstery. An interested viewer would discover by oneself how it is done. I also leave some 'voids' to let the interested ones solve and ask if necessary. Thanks for watching!

Every time I have a struggle with tight work I watch some of your videos and it reminds me that upholstery is not easy. Head rests and small bags are just difficult. Patience and persistence are the keys to great work. Thank you.

Making the pattern, figuring out the closing and doing it can take me a whole day to cover a headrest. Cesar makes it look so easy. If you want it almost perfect you know it’s not easy (if you’ve done it)

the best channel to learn. I really enjoyed sewing, my VW is already looking forward to it 😉. but what do you take to remove the "silver mine"? is the washing petrol? I also don't have the right pen for fabric, which disappears completely. With magic pens, I have the problem that it disappears too quickly, for example with a lot of diemantstich on fabric or Alcantara, because I can't work with silver mine. Greetings Mark (I used the translator)

To erase marks of the silver leather marking pen or waxed pencil I use 'benzine' which is used to clean clothes at the laundry (dry cleaner). It is also used to clean wrist watches. White spirits (white gas) is also useful.

And what do you typically use to clean the (pen refill colored silver?) markings after you stitch everything up? Thank you Sir, for your time! Ron

Hello Ron, Glad to hear from you. I used to mark with sharpened waxed pencils and still do. Shoemakers here in Mexico use a lot of silver leather marking pen refills. I find it useful on dark materials like vinyl or leather. To erase it I use the soft mineral spirits (white gasoline)

Dear Jeff, These feet are called: 'spring loaded right/left guide top stitch presser feet' and can be found for sale on Amazon, Ebay, AliExpress, etc. I have tried to specifically find a foot for your Adler 167 machine with no success. Perhaps, this design: www.aliexpress.com/i/33033736291.html Otherwise, it would be necessary to do an adaptation to your machine.

Your videos might be worth buying if you actually spoke in them rather than subtitles kind of difficult trying to watch what you are doing and reading. Also you need to cut the price by 70 percent. I don’t see a lot of people who are going to be willing to fork out 50-150 bucks for a video when you advertise on a platform that people can find the same information for free.

Fortunately, my educational mute videos have helped too many interested people in learning this craft. They are actually very grateful. I have several testimonials. One of them is Edgar 'The Canadian Guy' who learnt from my videos starting out from zero. I am very proud of my student because he wanted to become a car trimmer and soundly studied my videos and found lots of inspiration to pursue what he dreamed of. Now he is owner and operator of a nice upholstery shop in Moscow. He shows some of his excellent work on this page: facebook.com/eldoradotrims/ Thanks for your commentary and suggestions.
