Well... they both literally live in those countries. You only lose the accent if you've lived somewhere else for years... or maybe decades. Some people never lose their accent, even after living elsewhere for ages. An accent isn't just "not knowing how to pronounce the words" but rather it's the muscles and nerves in your mouth and throat having that pre-set. Doing regular streaming in another language might help with pronounciation, but that alone can't get rid of an accent. You can lose a dialect a lot faster though... like how English people very quickly adjust to using American words instead of the words they would use in England. But they'll still pronounce things in an English accent. For example the comedian John Oliver has worked in America for decades now I think and even has the citizenship... but he still has a fairly strong English accent after all that time.

@@LongVu-sk1pu Yes, because she's learning and "chat" is a much more common thing for a person streaming online to hear the correct pronunciation for rather than "charcoal". She has the one down because it's second nature, but will naturally default to her native pronunciation on something she uses less often

It doesn't help that English has the same pronunciation in some words. Character, chasm, chemical, chord and chimera Vs Chat, cheer, chose, chink and chunk

Ships and boats are basically the same thing, though. I mean, not to anyone who actually owns a ship, but the general public uses those terms interchangeably.

Shes only been working on it for 4 years and not immersively so shes actually quite fluent. It's just her pronunciation suffers from lack of real models which shouldn't be a problem going forward since, Lord knows, EN loves to talk.
