We go behind the scenes at Cedar Point as we are shown Valravn's maintenance garage, a train taken out of service on the transfer track and the ride operator's control panel. This behind the scenes tour was part of the fantastic Cedar Point VIP Sunrise Tour, all filming was done with the permission of the tour guides and park staff on the tour.

It's an ARB anti roll back. The chain dog carries you up the lift. Coaster mechanic here. The clicking you hear up a lift, is the ARB slapping on the roll back wrack.

so for the E-stop, if it cuts all power... that doesn't seem safe for station blocks, or am I misunderstanding? If there's no power how does it stop a train?

They are failsafe brakes. They actually require power to open instead of closing. In the case of the magnetic brakes they use permanent magnets.
@shawnspencer8766
@shawnspencer8766 3 жыл бұрын
E-stop actually doesn't "cut power" to rides. It's actually a 2 channel string e stop. If either channel opens, it impliments an E-stop condition in the controller. This releases a relay called the ESR (E - stop relay). This relay in turn shuts off 2 MCR's (Master control relays) These MCR's are required to be on to supply voltage to most outputs of the controller. This enables pilot lights and alarms to remain on, while critical outputs (such as brake valve solenoids, motor drives, 480v hot rails...) to be shut down immediately until the fault condition is removed and a system reset performed. I'm an attraction electrician so I'm just speaking from experience 👍🏻

Did You Know That YOUR Maintenance & Testing Is NO! Different Than That Of Ski Resort Ropeways. The Chairlifts Also Use Not Water Dummies But Do Use An Equilivant Of Water Dummies But Barrels Of Water On The Seats As A Load Test.. A lot Of Similarities Safety Switches, Proxy Switches, ECT Pretty Much The Same Stuff That Roller Coasters Safety Team Uses The Lift Operations Also Use.

Yeah, I don't think people really consider that when posting on the internet that parks should build rides every few years lol. The upkeep of a B&M is a very large sum of money every year.
@PlatinumEagleStudios
@PlatinumEagleStudios 3 жыл бұрын
Why the hell would B&M be so scared about anyone taking pictures of their blueprints? It's not like any of those people own a metal fabrication shop and CAD software to copy them. Also it's not like any of those people work for any coaster manufacturers, so what will they do with those pictures that so bad anyways? Post them to facebook? Yeah that REAAAALLY bad (sarcasm).
@yourexperienceguide
@yourexperienceguide 3 жыл бұрын
I guess you never know who's on a tour, could be a bunch of guys from Intamin or Vekoma as an example. Toverland did us a tour of their wing coaster and hide the blueprints when we did that tour.
@shawnspencer8766
@shawnspencer8766 3 жыл бұрын
The park I'm at, we look at the blueprints all the time for troubleshooting and repairs, but all the rides are extremely strict about who see's them. all the manufacturers just want to protect their intellectual property I'm guessing
