Purchased my first, roughly $40 pair of cedar shoe trees in Asia, and I thought they were pretty decent. But now I'm thankfully and regrettably seeing all the major differences that make them pale in comparison to the ones shown in the vid. Just shows that a higher price tag doesn't always equate to better quality. Will snatch a few of these shoe trees once I'm back home in the States.

Hi Kirby, I love your channel and I watch them over and over again. I can't believe that some men have to be told how to shine their shoes. I learned everything about men's clothing and grooming. My Father was a very well known tonsorial artist in my city of Providence Rhode Island. I learned how to shine shoes, shave, tie a necktie, fold a suit jacket and so on by watching him and my Grandfather. These things are so important and necessary. You are providing knowledge to men who have no clue what to do. I can't get enough of your videos and I find what you do is very noble. Thanks so much for everything. Sincerely, Steven Degli Angeli

Thanks for the video ! I thought that the the entire say...almost half of the front of the shoe needed to be fully filled in to help smoothen out the creasing because I notice in my shoe's there was some room near the creasing. I noticed you said it has to basically flatten and straighten it out rather then fill out, is this correct?

Lasted shoe trees really are the cream of the crop. I can't speak about shoe trees from bespoke makers, however I own a few pairs of St Crispin's MTM and for 1/3 of the cost of bespoke you can get a lasted shoe tree with many features of bespoke.

Hi Kirby! Thanks for the video - super helpful for beginner shoe nerds like myself. I wanted to ask your opinion on using regular shoe trees (like the $36 cedar one) for boots as well? Ankle boots and knee high boots. Do you think they should work just fine or is it crucial for boots to use boots-specific shoe trees? They’re much more expensive it seems (on your site at least). Thanks so much!

Damn! Nice shoes. I've always thought that wholecuts look a bit weird on account of the line where the laces go (I can't remember the correct term) just terminates in the middle of the leather. The brogueing hides this very nicely.

Hey Kirby, How would you go about removing a cream polish + wax. For example, I applied a darker brown cream to a mid brown shoe. I'm not entirely sure I like the end result. How would I go about safely recovering the initial finish (i.e. remove the polish)?

Hi Kirby. I don't have many expensive shoes, but I love taking care of them. They are used daily. I use nourishing cream followed by wax around the toe area. My question is "Do I always need to remove previously applied wax every time when I apply cream to the toe?" Thank you and good luck!

Hi Kirby, thank you for your recommendation of the Ultra Shoe trees. Finally got myself a pair, and will wind up getting another one after sending back a couple of other shoe tree varieties to Woodlore; those two didn't fit my shoes. What is your best recommendation for slip-on shoes or loafers? I assume that Ultra trees, which have a high vamp, wouldn't necessarily be ideal.

After watching the video, I knew that I just ended up with a larger pair of shoe trees for my shoes. These shoe trees still fit, though, just take more time to get in the shoes. But this pair of shoe trees is expensive and I cant return it, so my question is: will they cause huge damage to my shoes in the long run? Thanks.

That was great. Here in Prague, shoe trees are all of the same type - probably the same manufacturer. They retail for about 35 euro. They are all made in China. As the purpose is to keep the shape, and manage moisture, I'm surprised that some high end brands ( eg Crockett and Jones ) have their highest priced shoe trees lacquered ie not natural wood. The lacquer will form a waterproof barrier, and defeats the moisture management goal. Remember, the moisture on the inside of the shoe is sweat, ie it is salty. It's the salts that do the real damage as they will continue to dry out the leather after the shoes are touch dry.

I really enjoy your videos. Your soft, eloquent comments are real pleasure to listen. It is a fresh breath in today's world to have somebody like you available on You Tube. Great job. By the way I have a question for you which has nothing to do with the content of this video but I have seen on other video. I have been teched by my parents long time ago that it is inappropriate to shake other man hand with other hand in the pocket and in general keeping hands in the pocket being in the presence of others is not correct (lack of respect in some way). I have noticed that in USA this trend is very common at least based on what I see in TV. What is your opinion?

Hi Kirby, a very informative and great video. But I do have a question from personal experience. I own a few pairs of shoe trees. When I bought them, the salesmen said that I shouldn’t leave them in my shoes too long. My shoes would get flat he said. Is this true, or can you store the shoes you don’t often wear with shoe trees in them? Because I think the purpose of the shoe trees is to not let your shoes bend. Hope to hear from you.

Does it matter if the shoe tree I have is not wide enough in the midfoot? The length is perfect, but my shoes are 6e wide and I haven't been able to find any shoe trees that fill the width completely.

Is it bad if you use the trees if they are super tight as you mentioned? Ordered a 2 pack off of Amazon and they are quite tight

What about using shoe trees made for another pair of shoes and has been heavily used? In the case that it has belonged to someone else, is it wise to use it? could it be a source of viruses, fungus and bacteria?
