Meyer Lansky. Perfect example of a person who can escape death more than once by merely being polite, respectful and choosing his words VERY carefully.

One of my favorites from the show -- a straight businessman who avoided violence whenever possible.

Anytime Jimmy feels stupid, he just has to spend some time around Mickey. Lucky & Meyer are the real winners of this game. Lucky died at 64, which is pretty good considering how many city miles he had on him, and Meyer lived to be 81 in Miami Beach after being acquitted in court after being extradited from Israel.
@shannonmcstormy50213 күн бұрын
Yes, but you can't just look at the last men standing. Nearly all members of organized crime eventually (usually sooner than later) meet an untimely end: either the grave or prison. A few get to live the high life for a while, a few years if they're lucky. The primary problem is that most people willing and/or fit to be criminals aren't very smart, talk too much, are not in control of their emotions, drink/drug too much, show their hands too readily, trust the wrong people, and in general, have terrible judgment. These caliber of criminals make up the bulk of any criminal organization, from top to bottom......

One of the most interesting hooks of the Boardwalk world was the Luciano/Lansky duo, and all the potential future storylines it promised. The timeskip was disappointing, and then they reduced the entire setting up of the Commission into one scene (and showed nothing of its actual operations or impact). What a missed opportunity.

Why wouldn’t it be? Simp is actually short for simpleton. A lack of cunning so one is easily deceived or taken advantage of. This evolved into mostly used as a slur against men who willingly let women take advantage of them. But simpleton has always been a derogatory term for dumb people. Personally I prefer when simp had a more general context and use for any kind of slow witted person like it’s used here. Hell naw I’m not falling for that I’m not a SIMPleton.
