A documentry on making Goekel Traps (or Contat-Gockel’s valves).
All footage is my own and made simply for fun and not for professional use. I hope you find it interesting!
Made in my workplace workshop based in York, UK.

Nice to see you working glass again on video, as always the video was very informative, especially appreciate the inclusion of what can go wrong and methods of correcting the unplanned. Looking at all your other videos it is apparent that you are quite the diamond, so many facets, thank you for sharing them :)

This is amazing. I can't keep watching your glass blowing videos. Can anyone get into something like this? What sort of background is required, if any? I'm still looking for something to do with my life and this has long fascinated and intrigued me. Thanks!

What is the annealing temperature for borosilicate? I am a scientific glassblower but work with Quartz. Our annealing temperature is 1155 c for 30 minutes

A very educational video, thank you very much By the way, I just searched Goekel Trap and I couldn't find anything, is this for gases or liquids? Do you know in which kind of chemistry is this thing used?

Pretty much - the fresh tubing guarantees a uniform inside diameter for whatever they might be connecting up to it.

And she is hot literally . Why do u blow only certain times to burst open a hole. I know this ur breath must have to work in conjunction with heat to shape it then if it's spinning nothing gets out of shape? I think that this job cannot ever be done robotic right. Are u up around Vineland. Keep on making more and descriptions. Finally why do u not see standard taper distillation equipment in quartz like in the borosilicate. And isn't boro, quartz different in mainly one is the pure silicon oxide. Thermally shock can break quartz? Sorry I love glassware
